OLD MAN FIRELORD!OZAI WHO LOST EVERYTHING
Old man!Ozai x young fem!reader
Old Man Ozai who lost everything in a great scandal between him and his wife. The court found him guilty, his company and organization stripped away from him like an emperor's robe. The once great lord that monopolized over the city was no more. His family name was gone and so were his riches. And not only that, but his wife and his children have completely abandoned him due to his abuse and neglect. Poor Icarus flying far too close to the sun.
Old Man Ozai who finds himself having to start his life all over again. Now he's in some crummy apartment in the city working a maintenance job where he fixes boilers, something his company used to do. He works day in and day out, picking something that people would consider change, but it's enough to buy him ramen, cigarettes, and keep his rent paid.
Old Man Ozai who no longer has the beauty of a king. His once well-kept long hair is disheveled unlike his office days, bags under his eyes from sleepless nights, and his skin turning ghostly pale from the lack of sun he's been getting lately. People have already forgotten his name and who he once was. He's a shell of the man he used to be. Now he's just a useless maintenance man with dead fish eyes.
Old Man Ozai who notices boxes standing next to the apartment complex beside him that's been empty for a while. Turns out he'll be getting a new neighbor. The other people in this complex are excited for a newcomer. All he can do is grumble and smoke his cigarette. He used to smoke fancy cigars, but that's out of the picture for him now.
Old man Ozai who never bothered to attend the housewarming party his neighbors threw for him. It was some half-baked tradition he couldn’t care less about. It had happened once before, years ago, and he’d quickly scared off the rest of his neighbors before they even had the chance to hand him a gift. He refused to get close to another soul, refused to stand near another person. He downright hated human interaction—or so it seemed.
Old man Ozai who hears a soft knock at his door late at night when everybody had left that stupid housewarming party. He sees youbhis pretty little neighbor who surprisingly has to stand up on her tiptoes just to even slightly meet his face. "I'm sorry to bother you, but the people in the complex got me a lot of foodnway too much for me to eat." You hand him the bag. "I was hoping to give some of it to you, if that wasn't too much." His heart bumps in his chest. He hadn't felt that feeling since Ursa, but he doesn't answer. He just snatches the food out of your hand
You smiled anyway, a gentle curve of your lips that lingered even as you turned to leave. And for the first time in years, Ozai didn’t close the door right away.
Old man Ozai who is starting to grow a little bit fond of you after those late-night work shifts. He’d spot you feeding the stray cats near your apartment building. “If you keep feeding them, they’ll just come back with the rest of the flock,” he’d try to scold you for feeding strays, but he just couldn’t stop thinking about how cute you looked when you petted the little kitties’ fur and treated them like some kind of baby. “I know, I know, but come on how do you hate these faces?” you said, holding the cat up near your face. Ozai couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
Old man Ozai’s who's favorite part of starting the morning is watching you feed your little plant babies while he gets ready for the morning smoke. “You know those are bad for you, right?” you say, words forming into a pout as you see the gray smoke wafting in the air. “Is your mom said breathing was bad for you to stop?” he replies. You pout even more. “Keep smoking like that and I won’t say good morning to you,” you warn. The man stopped smoking that same day.
Old man Ozai who doesn’t even understand why you love spending time with him or talking to him. He’s an overworked, underpaid bum who’s lost everything. He doesn’t know why you want to talk to him from early morning to late at night. He swears he’s not that interesting. But then again, it feels so nice for a young flower like you to find him so fascinating—it makes him feel young again.
Old man Ozai whocdoesn’t know that he looks like one of your fictional crushes, which is the main reason you keep coming back.
