Andrew: One thing I absolutely love about this movie is that everything is only obvious in retrospect and everything that is foreshadowing doesn’t feel like foreshadowing. Like Grant telling that kid how raptors attack in a pincer movement seems like a scene about Grant hating kids but really it’s foreshadowing how the raptors will attack Muldoon later and set dressings like the T-Rex paddock having the no feeding or yelling signs come into play later.

Diana: Also the seatbelt thing.

Andrew: What was the seat belt thing?

Diana: When they’re in the helicopter and Grant can’t get his seatbelt done it’s because he has two female ends of a seatbelt, like how there are only female dinosaurs in the park, but he ties the ends together and he makes it a functioning seatbelt, because life finds a way.

Craig: This is the sound of my head exploding.

Diana: That’s why that scene is there.

Craig: Oh my god that is so brilliant, because it seems like just another scene to establish that Grant is bad at technology but yes, when you look at it it’s totally foreshadowing that life finds a way.

We’re watching the Return of the King right now, and got to the part where Denethor is introduced.  My husband asks me for the context of why Denethor is Like That, since I just finished reading the book.  So I explained how Denethor has been using a Palantir for years to get information, and how Sauron has been manipulating him by only letting him see events that give him a worst possible impression of reality.

So my husband replies “Oh!  So Denethor is basically just like your grandpa after he starts getting all his news from Fox.”   And honestly, yeah pretty much.
