I don't think Tolkien is a good fantasy writer because he scored the highest at some objective Best Fantasy Book Test that every fantasy writer has to take, I think he's a good fantasy writer because he created a world based on things that he was interested in. I feel like a lot of fantasy writers think that they need to create a whole language for their world because Tolkien did and obviously his books are the best so they have to emulate him, but Tolkien did that because he was a linguistics nerd. I think the lesson to be learned from him is not that you have to include elves and deep history and new languages, but that you have to write endlessly about the things you are a huge nerd about and use those things to create your fantasy world

I was born in the correct generation because I loved those photos so much, I decided to look up the ballet so I could watch it and there it was ! I have added other full length performances as well and for most of the pieces I have added different ballet companies (if I could find) just because different ballet companies means different choreography ( not always but certain companies are reowned for their distinct style)

prev wait, and I was thinking of commenting on how they somehow have you the perfect amount of time to read the message without it feeling too long or too short or otherwise breaking the rhythm of the bit, and it's! largely thanks to the music! the little melody that plays when the message is unfurled and sitting there statically so the audience can read it both serves to punctuate Marvin's emotional response to it, and to "fill in" the gap in visual action so that not absolutely nothing is happening while the note is read!!! I didn't even register it the first few times I watched the clip! That's now natural it feels! Absolutely masterful comedy. (also, realizing how Daffy/Duck Dodgers tilts his head slightly at Marvin's bullet, because he, like the audience, is fully expecting a message and is curious to see what it says! Notice how his expression is angry when he shoots his pistol, but innocent when Marvin shoots his; he, like the audience, fully believes Marvin is engaging with him peacefully and is simply responding to his note! Ugh, such a simple little bit but it's clearly sooo well thought-out)

He also solidified the idea of rabbits loving carrots when carrots actually carry very little nutritional value for rabbits. The funniest part of that is that the original joke was a reference to a Clark Gable film where Gable munches on a carrot, it was never meant to imply that rabbits love carrots. The Clark Gable reference would’ve been obvious to audiences in the 40s but it has been pretty much lost to time.

Cab Calloway and the amazing Nicholas Brothers, Fayard and Harold, in the 1943 20th Century Fox motion picture Stormy Weather. The dance routine was not part of the original script, but was added after the brothers presented it to the director, Andrew Stone. Even still, it was almost cut from the film because, at that time, studio executives were reluctant to feature African Americans in leading roles, and they thought it was too long. Stone fought to keep the routine in the film, and the performance became one of the defining moments of the brothers' career.
