As much as I want to support ethical farming practices I will be buying the cheapest bag of frozen chicken thighs as much as the next frugal/poor person which is why animal welfare needs to be legislated, not left up to the invisible hand of the free market or some bullshit. Invisible hand of the free market finds itself around a lot of throats.
the butterfly doesnt even have to be saved next question
This is so funny. Iâd kill all billionaires if it meant losing something precious to me
you have to be kinder to people with memory issues.
you have to be kinder to people who are slow processors.
you have to be kinder to people who don't understand your jokes.
you have to be kinder to people who forget important dates.
you have to be kinder to people with cognitive decline.
you have to be kinder to people who were always this way, too.
you have to be kind. you have to be kind.
lol i hate todayâs era of absolutely zero nuance takes. a friend didnât behave exactly as youâd wanted them to? cut them off. a guy didnât text you back instantly bc he has his own life? heâs just giving you breadcrumbs. doing something makes you uncomfortable? donât do it anymore. someone isnât instantly available for you? disinterest. just absolutist statements that often donât apply to the multilayer situations of everyday life. like. stop. literally just stop it
It's incredible how much pop psychology and therapyspeak boils down to treating individualism as the phenomenological norm for human beings and any form of human communication or relationship based on negotiation, compromise, self-sacrifice and trust as an act of violence against the individual
sorry if this is a stupid and/or weird question but your response to that anon talking about people experiencing orgasms during childbirth made me wonder if there's a certain point in development after which it'd be weird for pregnant people to have sex or masturbate, since after a certain point the fetus(?) can hear? like, should people do it quietly or does it just not really matter? sorry again but i am genuinely clueless
should. should pregnant people have sex quietly so their baby doesn't hear?
okay even assuming your unborn child can hear you fucking. it's like having sex in front of your stuffed animals or your dog, dude. they have absolutely no understand of what is going on. they don't give a shit. at no point is any person who has ever or will ever be born going to go "oooooh man I think hearing my parents fuck while I was in utero really fucked me up actually" that's not how anything works. they're too busy going "mmm yummy amniotic fluid" they do not know or care that sex is happening
I swear this is a consequence of the "life begins at conception" propaganda. Combined with the recurrent moral panic about "protecting children" (from knowledge).
Absolutely rancid combination of Christian morality with Christian morality.
I'm sad to say that the rise of fascism has been visible in my inbox for years as people become increasingly distrustful of their own bodies and pleasure. you see it in people's paranoia around becoming "porn addicts," their need for reassurance that a 24 year old isn't a predator for dating a 22 year old, their fears that they may have unwittingly committed assault by looking at another child's naked body when they were young, their insistence that consensual sex is impossible for anyone who has had a single drink or smoked a whiff of weed. people, especially young people, are doing a tremendous amount of work for fascism in terms of rigorously policing their own bodies and sexual expression, and they often don't even realize it.
It's definitely the purity and Sex Is Bad bullshit, not pro-life bullshit, speaking as someone who has spent time in the pro-life community (admittedly only US Christian-oriented ones).
As long as your OB/midwife hasn't said you should avoid sex, you can have it throughout pregnancy. In the latter half of pregnancy, the rocking movement the baby experiences can actually put them to sleep!
(For anyone unaware, not only is the cervix between the vagina and the uterus (meaning a penis/dildo cannot reach the uterus), but there's also a natural mucus plug in the cervix during pregnancy that keeps anything from the outside world (including in the vagina) from getting into the uterus, so no semen or lubricant can get in either.
On top of even that, the baby is inside of amniotic sac â a translucent membrane fully encasing it from embryo to right around the time of birth, filled with fluid to keep it cushioned and well-protected, as well as to help the lungs, gastrointestinal (stomach/intestines/rectum) tract, and urinary system develop)
While there are sound memories from within the womb â babies show recognition of voices they heard often in the womb (especially the person who carried them), songs that were sung, and music listened to â that's a recognition and comfort thing. Not a "oh yes this song Daddy sang every night!" or "Papa was talking about going for takeout every Friday" or whatever. Fetal brains aren't developed enough for that sort of thing, only recognizing familiarity from patterns. The sounds of their parent(s) having sex before being born aren't going to be remembered or even registered.
A fair amount of people who have given birth say that sex during pregnancy is the best sex they've ever had. If you're pregnant and are up for it, you should have sex!
(You should still practice safer sex if you're not in a closed relationship where you know nobody involved has STIs/STDs)
The scene where Tianlang-Jun catches Zhuzhi-Lang "in bed" with Shen Qingqiu is so much funnier with the added context from the extras. Once you have Zhuzhi-Lang's account of what happened, it means that things went down more like this:
Tianlang-Jun: let's check on my beloved nephew and Master Shen to see how they're doing. I want Zhuzhi-Lang to have someone to take care of him when I'm gone, so maybe that pesky "ties that bind" curse will bring him and Master Shen closer together ~ â¤ď¸
*Tianlang-Jun walks in on Shen Qingqiu and Zhuzhi-Lang in bed together*
Shen Qingqiu, internally: oh shit, Binghe's dad is going to think I'm having sex with his nephew!! How embarrassing!! But since Zhuzhi-Lang isn't saying anything, that must mean he's tacitly taking our side and doing us a solid by not blowing our cover!
Zhuzhi-Lang, internally: Immortal Master Shen is trying to escape!! This is bad!! And Luo BInghe is here, trying to aid him!! But my uncle explicitly asked me to seduce Peak Lord Shen, and he would be very disappointed if he realized we were not, in fact, having sex right now, so I shall...not correct my lord's assumptions on the matter.
Luo Binghe, hidden under the covers, shaking in a jealous rage, squeezing that poor snake like a looneytoon:
Zhuzhi-Lang, wheezing, not even trying to speak:
Tianlang-Jun, now the proudest uncle in the three realms: my, my, don't stop on my accountâ
If you want to write in the classic high fantasy mould, you don't have to be hung up on food specifically, but there must be some very mundane thing you're prepared to cultivate a sincere interest in and describe in excruciating detail every single time it comes up. Clothing. Furniture. Architecture. It doesn't work without it.
(The trick is, it needs to be something you can touch or hold. If you're infodumping about trade routes, you've crossed the line into the venerable "worldbuilding bible with a fantasy story stapled to the side of it" genre, which often overlaps with classic high fantasy but is not identical with it!)

A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Letâs fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
5. If the words are Google's, this solidifies the position of universities who demand that all answers from AI are fully cited. If all the in-line citations now have to be (Google, 2026), that's going to make it obvious when someone's trying to use Google as a source. There's still the difficulty with people who are academically dishonest by trying to pass off the AI writing as their own. 6. 91% accuracy is officially too low to use as a source of references, which means the AI can't be used as a source of references either. This makes it less legitimate for such purposes than Wikipedia of all places (Wikipedia might need date/time proof of when it was accessed for the reference to be valid, but at least it is possible to prove the link existed at a particular date and time). 7. This will help encourage the rollout of courses on how to avoid AI search for students who need academic accuracy, because it's statistically not good enough to use. 8. This strengthens the case intellectual property authors have against Google in the EU, as this is proof that an intellectual property transfer took place.

Look, we all know this is true. But there isn't a SOURCE for this, and the graph itself is basically illegible beyond "ooh colors". If we want to be good stewards of our informational resources, we need to cite our sources.
From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:
All clearly show a sharp rise in temperature beginning around approximately the 1980s, which corresponds with the graph in OP's post. But now we know where this data came from, and we can verify its validity accordingly.
hate how they forced bugs bunny into anti-weed propaganda in the 90s, as if bugs bunny wouldnât love smoking weedÂ
To be perfectly fair, bugs bunny would also love taking money for starring in anti-weed propaganda and then using said money to buy weed
