To Be Free
(Therian Short Story)
Nothing could beat nature. It was too amazing, too perfect; so comfortable, relaxing, energizing, full of life. The sights, sounds, and smells never failed to feel amazing. The soft blades of grass under your paws, the blowing breeze through your fur. Birds singing, squirrels chittering. A beautiful forest that’s bursting and bustling with life. Running under the trees, hopping over fallen branches and small trickling streams, letting your powerful legs carry you as the natural environment energizes you. This is the life that makes you feel whole and complete. It’s the simpler things. Hunting and catching food, creature watching (you never truly know how entertaining it is to watch birds and squirrels). Everything boils down to just your instincts and your nature.
Until everything dulls. The colours are less vibrant, sounds become muffled and distant, smells became faint. You can no longer feel the breeze blowing through your fur or the soft blades of grass under your paws. Experiencing the same things but they aren’t the same, because you aren’t the same. You don’t have paws, or claws, You don’t have fur, and you aren’t on four legs. Your mind and soul don’t match your body. Something else stuck in the body of a human, forced to live a human life, experiencing this world as a human.
But how nice it would be to be free…
