very pleasantly surprised by the Netherlands actually boycotting instead of just complaining
We all knew it was going to end this way. Two years of genocide and contest rule breaking, and the EBU never even slapped them on the wrist. Of COURSE they choose Israel over Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland and Slovenia, some of whom have been in the contest since the very beginning.
They have jumped through every hoop imaginable to keep Israel (and Moroccan Oil, the Israeli sponsors) in the contest.
Up to, and including, making the vote to exclude Israel contingent on disagreeing for voting reform, instead of allowing separate votes. So manipulative.

I know it's a hot topic but would you ever think about using AI to finish a fic you're finding hard to write?
Honestly? I'd rather put out an open campfire with my clit than use AI for anything creative.

Where's that post about how anticapitalist satire will always get one-upped by like, someone describing their job.
this was missing the incredibly important next picture where she got mad at the camera like its their fault she bit the soap
AND!!! the follow-up where her humans framed the whole photo sequence and put it on the wall
Oh help
i must not get takeout. takeout is the wallet-killer. takeout is the little-death that brings total obliteration. i will face the kitchen, fridge, and pantry. i will make choices about what to cook and then execute them. when hunger is gone there will be nothing. only i will remain.
It's very rare when I say lol that something actually makes me laugh out loud you know… But this Fucking video actually had me cackling

#genuinely: this is what further research into the famous 'marshmallow test' showed#it wasn't that kids who were able to delay gratification were more likely to be successful later on#due to intrinsic qualities#it was that kids who had a stable upbringing were more likely to be successful#and ALSO: those kids had trust that their caregivers would keep promises#which is WHY they were willing to give up one marshmallow now for the promise of two marshmallows later#kids who did NOT have trustworthy caregivers#or who were in a fundamentally unstable situation#DID NOT have that trust so they wanted their one marshmallow NOW#same deal here i think#it's not that Gen Z is bratty#it's that they have no trust in the system and no faith that promises will be fulfilled#and frankly i do not blame them -@cicerfics
Not Gen Z but young Millennial here but... Yeah.
This just reminded me of a conversation I had with my father a couple of months ago, when I was telling him how badly I wanted to quit my job. We were moving to three days a week in office, my health already isn't great. I am burned out and exhausted and not getting properly paid for my work. And his attitude was that, if I just stuck it out, things would get better, and I would be rewarded with better pay.
And like... I told him that MAYBE that's how things worked when he was 30 and working with the company he's been with since he was in his early 20s (he's in his sixties now)... but not here. Sticking around doesn't mean things getting better. It doesn't mean reward. It means doing more work for no additional pay, being drained of my time and energy by a company that doesn't care to actually treat me right. it means staying RIGHT where I am for no potential for growth and no guarantee that I will ever see any kind of reward for the work I do. Hell, it means I could be let go without any notice whatsoever, whenever they feel like it, and frankly, I think that's a lot more likely than me getting some kind of reward or raise or benefit for sticking around.
It's why I decided to quit, now, with no back-up plan other than spending a full month working on my certification course full time, like college classes, and move somewhere cheaper. There is no delayed reward. There is only what we are going to scrape up for ourselves right now.
