(tmnt au) Hey, would a mimic fight another mimic to protect its host's friends/family if the new mimic is after them and is stopped before it can do anything? Like for example if mimic raph sees a mimic going after leo. would not raph try to stop the other mimic sense it would be something the original raph would do? Or just business as usual?
Would a mimic even recognize a another mimic?
They would act exactly like the person they're imitating.
If the entire turtle familyāLeo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikeyāwere already Mimics, or even if only some of them were, and they encountered an enemy like Shredder, Rocksteady, Baxter Stockman, or any other villain from any TMNT version (Rise, 2003, 2012, etc.), who happened to be a Mimic as well, they would still fight them normally.
Mimics don't usually interfere with other Mimics pursuing their targets. That's simply not part of their nature. However, the situation changes once a Mimic has taken on an identity. At some point, it stops seeing itself as a Mimic and starts seeing itself as the person it has become.
Once a Mimic acquires its new "skin," it no longer thinks of itself as a creature copying someone else. In its mind, it is that person. It is Leonardo. It is Michelangelo. It is Raphael. It is Donatello. It possesses that person's memories, relationships, responsibilities, and behaviors, and it begins acting accordingly.
Because of this, if a Mimic Leonardo saw someone threatening his family, he would react the same way Leonardo would. If a Mimic Raphael found himself in a situation that required him to fight, capture, or eliminate a threat, he would do exactly what Raphael would do.
Mimics can recognize other Mimics, but their actions depend entirely on the context.
For example, if a Mimic Raphael encountered a skinless Mimic wandering around, he probably wouldn't care. He would recognize what the creature is and simply let it continue on its way. However, if he were on a mission where capturing or eliminating such beings was necessary, he wouldn't hesitate to act. Not because he hates Mimics, but because, at that moment, he is fulfilling the role of Raphaelāand Raphael would do whatever is necessary to complete the mission and protect the people he cares about.
In other words, Mimics recognize one another, but they do not automatically feel loyalty toward each other. Once they have assumed an identity, their decisions are guided far more by the person they have become than by the creature they originally were.
