previous ones centered around school and franks friendship with garcia
frank is incredibly smart, more smart than people think. he graduated high school 2 years early as the valedictorian. this again ties into his family trauma because his sister in the hc i have when frank is the middle child also got valedictorian when she graduated, however his parents never cared enough about him when he did basically the same thing except 2 years early. instead they straight up ignored him and kicked him out after he graduated because they believed if he was so smart he could learn to live on his own.
back to frank being smart, i have come to the idea that he was one of the people everyone went to if they had a difficult diagnosis. even tho he is not a diagnostician, frank has gone on many insomnia-induced rabbit holes about diseases he didn’t know perfectly. also because frank is a perfectionist (another hc) he wanted to make sure he knew almost every sign there was for every common and uncommon disease, yes there is some he does not fully know and others that mask symptoms so he is not always 100% sure, but the first time robby noticed that frank automatically knew what the diagnosis was and he was right, he (robby) always sent the med students to frank if they had problems, that was before frank went to rehab and all that. this also explains why frank was robby’s best resident beyond what the show told us, i might dive deeper about this one if anyone is confused
now onto garcia my favorite sarcastic queen. i strongly believe her and frank met in med school. i think frank did undergrad at yale (am i using the college pball went to for his masters, yes, yes i am) because he wanted to get away from his family, but also because they have have good program and well frank wanted to go to an ivy league idk. this might make no sense but its the only way i can get frank in pittsburgh, so he (and garcia) went to/still are at UPenn for med school and residency (i did research and it kinda makes sense because Upenn is also a really good school and it makes sense to do both programs there especially thinking about rotations and which hospital you want to get a residency at)
this might also seem strange but i kinda fell down a rabbit hole of frank originally wanting to be a surgeon with garcia. it fits his personality, especially when he does the procedures in season one and argues with garcia about it and even more in season two when he did the procedure that could have paralyzed the patient. this hc really depends on the storyline and other factors but i think it’s fun. however his sci made it extremely difficult for him to be able to proceed in surgery because of the strain that would have on his back and entire lower body from standing for extremely long periods of time without breaks and sitting down (this again is a stretch i am not a doctor yet, currently in school to become one so im praying my research didn’t lie to me). sooooo during his rotations frank found out that he loved emergency medicine as much as the idea of surgery.
now it's time for tanner and penny plus some of abby
frank and abby met in undergrad as freshman, abby is two years older. I do like the hc where garcia introduces them, however for all of mine to actually flow this is how it is. Abby is originally from Pennsylvania but decided to go to Yale because, well, it's yale, idk. I have seen so many fics about what abby does, and it really depends on the story and if her and frank stay together or not (it changes for me, sometimes she's a lawer, other times she's a stay at home mom, it really is up to how i feel). i like to say they dated until the end of undergrad, then frank decided to go to UPenn and well abby's from there so she moved back home and frank basically followed like a puppy. I don't really have a hc for when they got married or anything but it would probably be a year or two before they had tanner.
ok, tanner, my love, it's time to talk about the trauma frank went through with you :)). this may or may not be canon, but i say that tanner as born in the midst of covid, it would probably be a bit into franks rotation at the pitt. so frank being the paranoid father he is didn't go home when abby was pregnant with tanner or until the vaccines came out, so frank was living in his car until robby noticed and all but drag him back to his place so frank wouldn't freeze to death. abby's parents stayed with her for the whole time since they didn't want to leave her alone and frank was panicking. so for the entire pregnancy of tanner frank only saw abby through a phone screen, and then saw his son through a screen too (yes, frank was there for the birth, however he forced abby to have it t home and because the obgyns and labor and delivery nurses love him for some reason he convinced them to go to his house. i just realized i thought way too much about the logics of that and if it is unrealistic don't tell me, i know.
ok penny's turn. i say penny was born around 2023, idk it makes since to me. penny was probably worse than tanner, i believe that she was extremely early, 4 months to be exact (and if you tell me that's unrealistic i did way to much research about this so, yes 4 months early is still viable) and frank almost has a heart attack because of the stress and robby basically thought frank was gonna kneel over and pass out.
i also believe that tanner and penny are almost direct replicas of frank. they both have compassion a mile long and the striking blue eyes. tanner has abby's face shape and hair type (not color, he definitely has franks hair color and i don't have an explanation as to why). penny however is a carbon copy of frank, i think she currently has lighter strawberry blonde hair, you can't convince me frank didn't start off as a blonde, hair gets darker over time, penny's will.
ill talk about trans frank, frank having adhd (and other diagnoses) and maybe thsoe things that got passed onto tanner and penny. i love being up at 4 am
