so, as someone who's on their last day working in an optical store, i see a lot of people online recommending buying glasses from zenni as a cheater option than optical stores. the thing about zenni is a lot of their frames are SUPER low-quality. i had one for a couple years and the paint was chipping off. but does that mean the only option for high-quality frames is buying them in an optical store for super-inflated prices? NO.
here is what you do:
go to an optical store and try on frames until you find one you like
look on the inside of the left arm for the model number. this will be an abbreviation for the brand plus a 4-digit number. for example, a sferoflex frame might be SF 4567 or a tory burch frame might be TY 2345. if you're having trouble finding it among all the info on the left arm, ask an employee what the frame's model number is.
google this model number. you will undoubtedly find it for MUCH cheaper online than it is available in the optical store. my store literally sells frames for $200 that can be found online for $60.
once the frame is shipped to you, you can bring it back to the optical store to get lenses put in.
this way you get to try it on before buying online, plus you can see all the colors it comes in! the catch about buying frames this way is you can't use insurance for them, so if you have vision insurance i recommend getting a quote in the optical store about how much the frames would cost with your insurance and compare that to the online price. if you (like me) don't have vision insurance, online is always the better option.
please don't let luxottica and its competitors scam you. my heart breaks every time i see someone buy a frame for triple or quadruple its real price. i just picked a $309 frame off the wall next to my desk, googled it, and found it for $119 online. that's almost $200 lining luxottica's pockets!!!
luxottica owns pearle vision, target optical, lenscrafters, sunglass hut, and the vision insurance company eyemed (the largest vision insurance company). google 'luxottica monopoly' and you'll find countless criticism of how they've inflated prices into oblivion. don't let them or their competitors rip you off.

Hi, art request here! What about target practice, interpreted as you like? I feel like that's a pretty popular trope in the winterhawk or hawkeye fandom, but I don't think I've seen any art of it! (also wow your art is so great, i'm so happy you're creating for this community!!)
Please do not repost! Re-blogging is very much welcomed, though! <3
Thank you so much, nonny! This was a fairly open-ended request, and I had to stop and think about it for awhile. One of my favourite tropes for winterhawk is Clint and Bucky absolutely decimating the Tower's training room and leaving everyone else in the dust. I feel like no one wants to try and take them on because there's no hope of winning. Tony keeps trying to make bots difficult enough to defeat them but there's just no stopping them.
Also, I hadn't yet drawn Clint with his bow which is a travesty I needed to rectify.
Thank you again, nonny, I'm so glad you enjoy my art and the winterhawk community has been THE BEST. I love you guys! <3
Admittedly, I try to recommend this artist to everyone, but I really feel like Love You Like a Dog by CaseJackal can be a mood for early Karzarul
I have started a collaborative Astielle - FanMix Spotify Playlist if anyone wants to jump in and add more songs. I’d love to see every fan’s contributions because I really love reading everyone’s reactions to the story and feeling like we’re all waiting with bated breath together for these disasters to make it out okay. And the gratuitous facefucking.

"estrogen will make you infertile" man ive heard enough horror stories about girls who treated it like it's a contraceptive, made extremely incorrect assumptions about their fertility, and ended up having to deal with the consequences. full, permanent/irreversible infertility from estrogen alone is not an especially consistent result either. if you're having sex that could result in someone getting pregnant, there should be an actual contraceptive involved no matter how long you've been on hormones.
ditto for testosterone. it can reduce likelihood of pregnancy, but is in no way a substitute for contraceptives.

Hundreds of workers at Nabisco bakeries across the country are on strike over a proposal to change their work shifts and health care benefit
Hundreds of union employees at three U.S. Nabisco bakeries that make Oreo and Chips Ahoy cookies and Ritz Crackers have gone on strike to protest proposed changes amid contract negotiations with parent company Mondelez International, Inc.
Approximately 200 workers at a factory in Portland, Oregon, have been on strike for two weeks and were joined on Monday by about 400 employees at Nabisco's bakery in Richmond, Virginia. On Thursday, workers at Nabisco's bakery in Chicago also walked off the job to go on strike.
Employees at a sales distribution center in Aurora, Colorado, also joined the strike on Aug. 12. All of the workers on strike are members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union, which announced the Chicago strike on Thursday.
"This fight is about maintaining what we already have," Mike Burlingham, vice president of BCTGM Local 364 in Portland, told TODAY Food. "During the pandemic, we all were putting in a lot of hours, demand was higher, people were at home, and the snack food industry did phenomenally well.
"Mondelez made record profits and they want to thank us by closing two of the U.S. bakeries (last month) and telling the rest of us we have to take concessions, what kind of thanks is that? We make them a lot of money. It's very disheartening. How is that supposed to make us feel?"
The union is in the midst of negotiating a new four-year contract with Mondelez after the previous one expired in May.
Union leaders say that Mondelez has proposed switching from eight-hour shifts, five days a week, to 12-hour shifts, three or four days a week, without overtime, and with increased mandatory work on weekends without extra pay.
Don't let them go the way of Hostess.
Oh man, this is gonna be messy. I’ve said it loads of times in both fantasy and real life, and it always rings true : you NEVER cross the bakers’ guild.
Read up on the New York bagel famines. Bagel Bakers Local 338 practically brought the city to a standstill back in the day.
If you also didn’t hear, Danny DeVito got unverified briefly by Twitter for voicing solidarity with the union. Dan Rather got involved. It’s messy. Don’t cross the line if you can.
No contracts. No snacks.
Bees choose to live in the box where they know damn well that a large fraction of the honey will periodically be removed, instead of simply leaving that place like they are perfectly able to do, because the human box comes with an invulnerable titan to guard them against all threats. The bees consider the payment offered to this colossal mercenary to be a pretty good deal.

One absolutely hilarious part of human existence is the repeated incidents of spicy bananas. People who have lived their entire lives up to this point just assuming that a specific fruit or vegetable is supposed to taste bitter, tangy, or spicy, having no fucking idea that all this time, they've been allergic to this plant. Because how would they have known? You learn what things taste like by tasting them, nobody's going to tell you that bananas are supposed to be one of the mildest flavours out there. And people already eat so many things that taste hot, bitter, tangy and tart! Because they like how that kind of thing tastes like!
You can just happily much on a plant, thinking "ah, this angry plant tastes sharp because it hates me. Much like all the other sharp angry plants that people eat because they like the sharp", and it wouldn't cross their mind to think that the plant just hates you, specifically.
This is sitting on the shelf of human experiences riiiight next to people who don’t realize they’re colorblind.
There was a Tik Tok I saw where someone was talking about this girl they used to date, and one time they got pizza, and then her stomach was upset, and they were like “Oh, are you lactose-intolerant? I wouldn’t’ve gotten pizza if I’d known”, and she was like “No, I’m not lactose-intolerant. It’s just pizza. And ice cream, and mac and cheese and ...” and started listing a number of different dairy products and then paused and was like “Oh, maybe I am lactose-intolerant”
