please for the love of god read the rest it’s hilarious
this is in my top 10 favorite tweets of all time along with this one
Villain: “You and I are very much alike, you know.”
Hero: “I realize that.”
Villain: “Doesn’t that trouble you?”
Hero: “Why would it? I share most of my genome with sewer rats.”
Villain: “But our similarities mean that, deep down, you’re a bad person. There’s nothing stopping you from being just as evil as I am!”
Hero: “Sure there is. I’m stopping me.”
Villain: “But in your heart you crave—”
Hero: “Sometimes when I’m in a crowded building I get the sudden urge to just boop a stranger right on the nose. But I don’t do it, because that would be super rude and weird. Does having that compulsion in the first place make me just as much of a weirdo as if I had acted on it? Maybe it does in your eyes, but to the would-be boopee, it makes all the difference in the world.”
Villain: “We’re not talking about booping noses, we’re talking about killing peop—”
Hero: “Look, dude, I’m sure murder can be really satisfying. But I’ve decided that I don’t want to murder people, and I think that’s very sexy of me. Look at me. With a little self-restraint, you might have had what I have.”
Villain: “But surely it disturbs you, doesn’t it? To know how close you are to snapping. Don’t deny it. There’s so much darkness in your heart. Do you really think they’d still love you if they knew? They’d be disgusted by you. They’d hate you, for thinking so much like me.”
Hero: “That’s the difference, isn’t it? Between you and I. One tiny difference. That’s all it takes. That’s the line between good and evil.”
Villain: “What?”
Hero: “You saw your own darkness and let it destroy you. You surrendered to it the moment you realized it was there. You threw open the door for it and welcomed it inside and let it rob you of your humanity without even a word of protest because you just couldn’t imagine it was something you could fight.”
Villain: “And you, oh-so-sanctimonious one?”
Hero: “I said ‘no thanks’. That’s it. That’s the difference.”
Villain: “Did you just—did you just—”
Hero: “Boop your nose? You’re right. It did feel good.”
Villain: "They would be disgusted if they knew"
Hero: "Most of my friends work retail, they all know that feeling of wanting to kill somebody and then not acting on it."

Bitches starting shit with me better read this helpful wiki article first.
Only by overthrowing capitalism can we apply this sentiment universally, to all people and to each person. Overwork is a byproduct of an economic system that prioritizes profits over people. With the smart use of democratic planning, automation, and economic reorganization, toiling our lives away to make someone else rich could become a thing of the past.
Workers of the world, unite!
Study after study shows that the 40 hour workweek is inefficient and damaging to one’s health. Funny how the class that profits off of our exploitation and abuse doesn’t want to hear that, and tend to continue glorifying unethical and unsafe work practices that union members literally died for us to escape.

that thing about how removing the middle 2 panels of a cad comic makes it funnier is true
holy shit
I can’t even imagine what meaningless filler went into panels 2-3.
oh my god these are actually funny
this is 100% true and once you remove the horrible filler bullshit its comedy gold
Mycoblastus sanguinarius
Bloody heart lichen
I mean, does it get more hardcore than "bloody heart lichen?" I highly doubt it. This crustose lichen has an uneven, bumpy and warty thallus of greenish-gray. It has bulbous, black apothecia scattered across the surface, with the occasional spot of bright red poking out from underneath. I hardly ever mention the medulla layer of lichens--it's the inner-most layer made up of intertwined fungal threads.
In most lichens, it is whitish and cottony and not super distinctive, but in M. sanguinarius, it is bright red in the area underneath the apothecia. Cool and weird! And I love a little splash of color. Why is it like this? No idea! Mysteries abound in the world of lichenology. This sanguineous pal grows on bark, wood, and occasionally mossy rocks and is distributed throughout the northern hemisphere in boreal forests. And just to make it nice and confusing for you, this lichen has a "twin"--the genetically and chemically distinct but morphologically identical Mycoblastus sanguinarioides. It used to be thought that M. sanguinarioides was restricted to the southern hemisphere and M. sanguinarius to the northern, but recent genetic analysis says welllll, actually, M. sanguinarioides has been in the northern hemisphere all along so oops! It kinda stresses me out to know that there might be a ton of look-alike species of lichen out there that are genetically distant, and we might actually have no idea how many distinct species there are on the planet! But it is also really exciting, isn't it? There is is still so much we don't know!
