And has anyone considered the reason that Guy is like that is because he is an abuse survivor and sometimes that makes people incredobly reactive especially when the person who thinks they're in charge is known for being a massive control freak that doesn't ever explain the plan and just gives orders? Like i know Bruce Wayne isn't like that ypu know Bruce Wayne isn't like that but the impression Batman tends to give people upon first meeting is incredibly authorotarian; he's blunt, talks to people like they're stupid, and utilizes fear even against his allies at times to maintain a sense of control. Of course Guy is going to go out of his way to make sure Batman doesn't feel like he has any control over him. Guy Gardner isn't stupid or mean or whatever he's just incredibly emotional and doesn't like being told what to do!!! He's a green lantern!!! And he's my friend!!! Being a loudmouth isn't a crime you all just think Batman is a neutral judge of character and he isn't!!

okay and if i said ultraman sensing whenever lex’s heats are coming and fucking him through them crazy style then what. whining like a neglected animal trying to get inside lex’s guts and the urge to mate him makes it infinitely worse. follows him around the building all week prior to and lex hates that because he’s come to learn that it’s a telltale sign his heat is approaching. ultraman being able to sense it before even he can drives him up the wall internally as well. (he hates that he’s an omega who can’t control his body, not the mindnumbing alien arch nemesis clone sex).

ultraman wasn’t even created with those intentions (not on purpose anyway) he just came out like that, desperate for anything lex would give him and obviously protective of his creator. so of course when his alpha senses start sounding like an alarm and lex smells a lot more ‘lexy’ than usual, he’s going to ensure his boss is okay. and if that winds up with ultraman dragging him into some dark secluded room and fucking him within an inch of his life on a table until he’s begging to be knotted, so what? he’s programmed to serve lex isn’t he? boss’ orders.

and if lex happens to be thinking of a certain freak in a cape every time he’s shoved and held down by hands larger than his own and made to take it like an obedient omega…that’s nobody’s business but his own.

Jason and Cass' opposing views on murder is so interesting. Their conflict is not purely moralistic - that is to say, it's not purely that Jason thinks murder is okay, and Cass doesn't. It's their identities, their original and most fundamental worldview. Jason is a murder victim and Cass is a murderer. Yes, Jason kills people as Red Hood, and yes, Cass dies multiple times, but this never truly erases how they see themselves. Jason will always have been murdered, and Cass will always be a murderer. They are unable to fully extricate themselves from those roles, and thus will never approach life or death the same way.

suddenly struck with thoughts about the devastating concept of Jason Todd

because he was good. because he had a bleeding heart despite every reason not to. he loved school and was good at it. he was the first to be adopted, with little pretense of guardianship. he did everything he could to be a perfect Robin and live up to an impossible ideal. he only ever wanted Bruce and Dick to like him.

because he met Bruce in the same place and on the same day that Bruce's parents died--the single defining moment of Batman's existence. and he made Batman laugh. he hit the Dark Knight, Terror of Gotham, with a tire iron. he wasn't afraid of the man who turned fear into a weapon.

because he couldn't save his mother from herself, but he tried. because he was too good not to try and save the woman who gave him up. too good to play the Joker's game. the crowbar didn't kill him, the bomb did. he died knowing he wouldn't make it and tried anyway. he died a hero.

because other Robins have died, but none of them put an irrevocable tear in the mythos of Batman. because Jason Todd always dies, in every universe. he dies for the sins of his father. he was put to death by popular vote, sacrificed by the crowd. doomed by the narrative and doomed by the audience. the boy who only ever tried to prove he was good enough--wasn't good enough.

because he has every reason to be angry. because he didn't ask to be murdered, didn't ask to be brought back, and when he did everyone acted like he was better off dead. Bruce tried to kill him and nearly succeeded. he's blamed for his own death and blamed for his resurrection. he can never come home because the house is haunted by his own ghost.

because he's been the hero, the victim, and the villain. because his family and his writers and his universe don't know what to make of him. they don't know how to look his tragedy in the eye. and how can you?

it hurts to look at the hero who cannot be good enough, the victim who will only ever be angry, the villain who can sometimes be right. the audience hates to feel complicit and, in this exceptional case, they are.

The reason I love the Red Hood being a crime lord instead of a vigilante is that Crime Alley, functionally, doesn't have the same problems as the rest of Gotham. Their main problem isn't the mad Rogues running around, it's the cycle of poverty, violence, and crime that they're all stuck in. And you know what one of the main ways to combat this is? Community. Organizing. Working together.

Except Crime Alley can't just choose to do that. Who would choose to join such a risky proposition instead of a gang that you know can help protect your family? So the Red Hood comes in and he looks like he's just creating another gang, the same as all the others.

Except he's serious about not selling drugs to kids or people in danger of overdosing. Except he protects the working girls fiercely, even if it loses him money. Except all the money he does make goes straight into the community if it's not making sure his employees are alright.

Working within the system is often a necessary measure to fix the system. Except the system in the case of Crime Alley isn't the government that abandoned them, it's the volatile, terrible gang set up. So Red Hood didn't just work within the system, he took it over and made it work for him instead.

Is this perfect? No. The other bats have valid disagreements with Jason's way of doing things. But he is doing so much good.

I think we’re not fully utilising Dick’s potential for fuckery. This mean was raised in a circus. Surrounded by trapeze artists. And wild animals. What makes you think he has any regard for safety or self preservation?

So I like to think that sometimes, just sometimes there’s a switch that flips inside him and instead of being mature and practical about the system he lets his intrusive feral child win.
