to expand on this (just because i’ve been lurking in the tags here and on other websites and seeing some wild takes):

that is the beauty (and curse) of leaving things unsaid word-for-word. people can draw their own conclusions from the bits of what they are given

it is perfectly clear that jax definitely is struggling with aspects of his identity as a person in some way. however, because of the way the last episode plays out and lacks that “word-for-word” confirmation one way or another, it leaves it open-ended in a matter of speaking

i think one of the main issues i have with what i have been seeing is that there seems to be this misunderstanding (or blatant denial for some) that cishet people can’t also struggle with their identities (sexuality-wise, gender-wise, etc.). all types of people are harmed by being restricted to a box

there is a lot that can be said about how community can push labels onto a person 1) before they are ready to accept them or 2) that are completely incorrect and based on said community’s own preconceived notions about gender/sexuality/race

jax is a very nuanced character basically
