Can you imagine suing Boeing and coming home to find Boeing's faulty plane parts washed up in your backyard?
I'm aware this is petty and very unkarmic of me or whatever, but the amount of joy I just experienced logging in to Facebook to discover that a former boss, who bullied me relentlessly and made my mental health significantly worse, fell down a manhole loony toons style, is off the charts.
They're fine. Or they will be. Couple of bruises and a twisted ankle, according to the post I just read. But man, if the photos my other former colleague posted aren't going to keep me entertained for a while.
Hgkls. True to character, Former Boss was mocking my former coworker for not wanting to push a heavy cart of drinks over the manhole cover which didn't look like it was on correct, and Former Boss got mad and decided to jump on the manhole to prove it was stable.
Incredible. 10/10 Wish there'd been video.
Oh my gooooooood.
I have some terrible past bosses that I really wish would fall in a manhole Looney Tunes-style. Living the dream.
Honestly couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.
And the thing is, I know the exact area she fell through because even 12 years ago when I still worked there, I remember complaining that the area didn't feel safe to go over with really heavy carts because it would wobble, and the the [place of employment] just refused to do anything about it.
The last time I said anything, my boss pretended to cry like a baby and asked me if I was "scawed of a wittle wobble."
So this is just *chef kiss* ecstatic. Going to be riding this high for a while.
This is like going back to the fish store I used to work at, chatting with one of the current employees for a bit in front of the display tanks since it was a slow day, and then seeing that my jerk boss was still there, who was 30% salesman-slime and 70% redbull by volume- Me: "Oh wow, [jerk boss] is still here? I'm amazed he hasn't had a heart attack with all the redbull he drinks" Employee: "Oh, uh, actually... right where you're standing... yeah he did." Me: "Wait. What. In front of the piranhas?" Employee: "Yuuuup. Really."

Hiiii
im gonna reblog this with an unfun fact: 1 divided in thirds is actually 0.333 repeating, on into infinity. a line of not-quite-thirds-of-a-percent getting ever smaller, forever. multiply that endless line by three and you get a different size of endless line: 0.999 repeating.
and unfortunately 0.999 repeating equals 1. it's not close to 1, it is the same thing as 1.
this is because the difference between 0.999... and 1, is a fraction that gets infinitely smaller for as long as you zoom in. they're the same number. the difference between them is infinitely small. you will never be able to reach the final sum of how much smaller the fraction is from the whole integer and therefore it's mathematically not there.
where is that 0...001? it's at the end of infinity. it's nowhere. therefore, it isn't.
Which makes this a great metaphor! Slice up your cake (integer) into several pieces (decimal representations) and just a little bit, an infinitely small crumb, is left stuck to the knife (number system by which we attempt to concretely represent abstract concepts).
Okay fully if I were hearing this story (LOTR) for the first time (rather than reading it for the first time haha) and a guy invited strangers into a blatantly Germanic-Old English hall and said to leave the weapons at the door (this at least is normal enough! Occasionally results in duels to the death w/e) and that these were “dark days” I would be fucking panicking. I’d be like “the lads are going to DIE they are going to be LOCKED IN and BURNED ALIVE. “Thatched with gold” ok man I know an IRON HOUSE MOTIF WHEN I SEE ONE. I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. IS THERE A LADY IN THIS HALL, HUH JRR? IS SHE GONNA BURN THEM AND HERSELF ALIVE IN IT CANT FOOL ME, JRR. Can’t believe this is a red herring I am suffering. He did this to panic his medievalist friends I swear. This was a trap designed for CS Lewis’s personal anxiety.
Bilbo barely passed Old Took's record lifespan after having a supernaturally-life-extending ring for 60 years. which begs a question. what the hell did Old Took do
I have a theory that somewhere back up the line gandalf fucked a took. This sounds like complete crack but hear me out. The tooks are rumored to have “fairy blood” which in LOTR terms means either elves or maia. There is an ancestor who’s unusually tall and many of them are noted to live unusually long lives unless they meet with illness or injury, same as the numenorians did. They don’t hve extra pointy ears and elves don’t have a special interest in the line. But who DOES have a special interest in looking after tooks (and bilbo who is a took on his mother’s side/his adopted son frodo)? Gandalf. That dude is ALWAYS fussing over some silly little guy. He regularly brought the old took birthday presents.
Back in the day some bold hobbitess decided to climb that old man and ever since then gandalf has been looking after his line of tiny crazy bastards and no one will convince me otherwise.
I hate that no one talks about just how distressing memory loss from adhd actually is. I always see memes that are like “haha I forgot my phone, I don’t remember where my laptop is, etc”, but no one seems to talk about how it can really fuck you up long term to just, not remember things that are completely mundane to non-adhd’ers. The memory loss is, however, so frustrating to us. I cannot physically count how many meltdowns I have had over the sheer mental frustration and torture of not being able to remember seemingly simple things
copper my beloved
rose gold, brass, bronze, what cant she do
beautiful base colour, beautiful patina, and it mixes to make beautiful alloys. 10/10 best metal.
she also makes up so much of your wiring, she’s a working gal too.
what CANT she do
Don’t forget about the most beautiful blue made by copper sulfate!!
my absolute FAVOURITE comments on this post are ones like this.
where they just add on something ELSE that copper does. it’s great.
When you need to work in an atmosphere where a stray spark could cause an explosion, you switch out your steel tools for copper alloys since it conducts heat much better and thus won’t spark easy.
So when Tumblr user @mono-red-menace hypes up copper, it’s a 60k-note banger, but when I, Ea-nasir,
I finally watched The Sound of Music and like I get it now, I get it.
It’s a beautiful two hour love story of a strict man finally opening his heart again and then a fifty minute public service announcement to hate the nazis. Brilliant.
You’re not wrong there…
Reblogging this version cuz those two gifs show the sexiest duality a man can have.

Finally, some good news.
This is so great because if anyone is caught impeding or messing with these deliveries, it’s MAIL, that makes it a FEDERAL crime, whoever fucks with these packages gets charged FEDERALLY, they face up to five years in prison.
[ID: A tweet by @ nytimes that reads, "Breaking News: Women can get abortion pills by mail for pregnancies up to 10 weeks without seeing a doctor in person, the FDA ruled. The decision comes as the Supreme Court considers whether to roll back abortion rights or even overturn Roe v. Wade." Attached is a link to the article and a screenshot of the title and subtitle of the article. The article was published Dec 16, 2021. The title reads, "F.D.A. Will Permanently Allow Abortion Pills by Mail" and the subtitle reads, "The decision will broaden access to medication abortion, an increasingly common method, but many conservative states are already mobilizing against it." /end ID]

Adding a link that isn’t blocked by a paywall
The agency's decision to ease access to the drug mifepristone comes at a time when abortion rights are being increasingly restricted nationw
Resources for anyone that ends up in a restricted state:
Aid Access - they can send you the abortion pill even if you live in a restricted state.
PLUS, you do not have to be pregnant to order them. You can order to have on hand, in case of an emergency.
Aid Access supports women who cannot otherwise access an abortion or miscarriage treatment and protects their human rights.
Repro Legal Helpline (reprolegalhelpline.org) -
Some of the things they can help with above.
Miscarriage + Abortion Hotline (mahotline.org) -
They have a ton of information, and resources in one place.
Also, if you find yourself in a restricted state, you need to be careful of how and with whom you are talking about it. You need to use safe, encrypted messaging and calling.
I also recommend removing any biometric information for unlocking your phone. Use a PIN or password instead of a fingerprint or facial recognition.
Look, we absolutely need to be aware of companies selling our data or giving it to ghe authorities. We absolutely need to be careful about what we post online.
But one good thing about technology is that we can use it. Prolifers like to pretend that people won't die due to this abortion ban. But people will die. Make it as hard as possible for prolifers to deny that they are killing people. When you see posts and news stories about people being denied abortions, boost the signal every single time. Blaze it if you can, because the more people who know that someone might die due to being denied an abortion, the harder it will be for politicians to remain silent.
Make Mitch McConnell tell the press whether he thinks a pregnant person should die rather than be granted an abortion. Make Samuel Alito explain why he thinks the state has a right to refuse to terminate an ectopic pregnancy.
This could lead to the person being granted an exception that was previously denied. It could save the person's life. And eventually, as the cases pile in, it will become harder for prolifers to justify abortion bans.
You see, they will try to downplay the number of cases or the severity of them. But we have social media and freedom of speech. Those are weapons. We can spread the word about these incidents farther and faster than people could in the 1900s. It is very hard to contain information on the internet. They can try to discredit it. They can try to spin it a different way. But they cannot contain it.
Actually yknow what. WTNV should be considered revolutionary and significant gay media that played an important role in the growth of gay representation in media especially in podcasts. When people talk about important gay media in the early 2000s I want wtnv to be one of the ones people talk about. No if ands or buts about it.
Actually I cant shut up about this. In 2012, people did not even think about putting gay representation in popular media. Gay representation wasn’t considered profitable yet. Gay marriage would not be legalized for another three years. The Legend of Korra, a show that fought to the death to have their main lead hold hands with another woman, just released their first episode earlier that spring. Steven Universe, a show well known for its gay representation, including having the first gay proposal + marriage on a kids cartoon tv show, would begin a year later in 2013, but wouldn’t show their gay representation hand until 2015 with the episode Jail Break. The Adventure Zone, a podcast currently well known for it LGBTQ+ representation, wouldn’t begin until 2014, and didn’t show their hand until 2015. In my young queer experience, representation was covert, secretive, only implied or dead.
and then in the summer of 2012, wtnv introduced itself to the world, proclaimed its main character gay in the first episode, and played it gay (pun intended) for years. Being gay wasn’t a trope, or a goof, it was normal. Cecil Gershwin Palmer was just a canon, gay character who fell in love and stayed in love and was happy. and that was that.
if we talk about revolutionary queer media, we talk about Welcome to Nightvale. No exceptions.
I think it’s really important Cecil Baldwin credit for this. I’m not saying Fink and Cranor and later Dylan Marron have nothing to do with it, because of course they do. But Cecil being gay was not something the writers intended. Because initially, Carlos was not intended to be a love interest for Cecil. He was just meant to be a character that showed up occasionally to be a tongue-in-cheek goof on scientist characters in shows like Fringe or the X-Files. But Cecil Baldwin made the decision to make his character utterly in love with Carlos, because he was gay, and wanted his character to be as well.
For those who don’t know Cecil Baldwin is HIV+, and he’s openly discussed his struggle with it. This is a large part of why his playing a man who is openly gay and sexually active is also really important. The importance I think of having LGBT people playing LGBT people really shines through with both Cecil and Dylan’s characters. They can be authentic, they can be a source of hope and representation. Behind the scenes, Night Vale is just as diverse as the show itself. Cecil Baldwin’s pretty incredible and it’s worth it to read what he’s had to say on WTNV if you have the time.
vader: who tore the warning sign off of this wampa cage?? storm trooper: security footage shows it was removed by a golden protocol droid vader: LOL
