Today is World AIDS Day. It’s a day for everyone to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to remember those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. If you don't know your status, get tested! It's free, it's fast and it's important! Your health matters! Love, Mom 💕

People aged 13-24 are affected by HIV at a much higher rate. Gay and bisexual amab people account for 70% of all new HIV diagnoses.

For ANYONE who is sexually active, latex condom use is the most effective method of preventing HIV and many other sexually transmitted infections/diseases (STIs/STDs). When latex condoms are used the right way and EVERY time, they are 98-99% effective in preventing HIV transmission!

If you’re having sex, use a condom every time! If you need condoms, you can get them FREE at any Planned Parenthood office, health department and college health center. There is no age restrictions, no ID required, no questions asked, no prescription needed. Just go get them…..and use them!

Thanksgiving can be very, very difficult for many. If you will be spending time with openly hostile, ignorant, disrespectful or unsupportive family, please take care of yourself as best you can.

*If you don’t feel safe being out, that is ok. *It’s ok to present however you need to in order to be safe. *Take breaks, you don’t have to be around everyone all the time. Take some moments in a safe space (bathroom, basement, bedroom) just for you and take some deep breaths. *Take a walk and listen to some favorite songs. *If you’re traveling, find safe spaces and people in that city in case you need them (PFLAG, lgbt organizations, online support, hotlines)

*Know and remember that there are so many people who are so grateful that you are here and so thankful we are able to love and respect you as the beautiful person you are.
