Hey Gyns. I want to make a masterlist of cases of male gynecologists and obstetricians abusing their patients. There’s probably quite a few cases I missed because there are no articles about them in English. If any of you gyns know of a case that’s not on this list, feel free to add on!

Dr. Robert Hadden: Gynecologist who sexually abused dozens of patients, including minors. He licked patients’ genitals, groped patients’ naked bodies, made unsolicited sexual comments, performed unnecessary and medically-inappropriate breast and vaginal exams, and inserted his ungloved fingers in patients’ vaginas. At least 70 women have come forward about being victimized by Hadden. (x, x, x, x) 

Dr. James Heaps: Former gynecologist at the University of California who was indicted on 21 counts of sexual abuse offenses. Heaps faced multiple counts of sexual battery by fraud, sexual exploitation of a patient, and sexual penetration of an unconscious person by fraudulent representation, according to a copy of the indictment. Dr. George Tyndall: Gynecologist at the University of Southern California who was charged with sexually assaulting 16 women. Tyndall had been working at USC for nearly three decades when he was arrested on 29 felony charges. (x, x, x, x)

Dr. Nikita Levy: Johns Hopkins gynecologist who was caught secretly videotaping and photographing patients. Johns Hopkins agreed to pay out $190 million between 8,500 victims. Victims were individually interviewed and categorized based on the damage inflicted. The payouts ranged from $1,750 to $26,000. WBAL-TV reported that determination letters were sent to the approximately 9,600 women victimized by Levy. Levy had been working at John Hopkins for 25 years when the allegations emerged. (x)

Dr. Fabio Ortego: Gynecologist accused of sexual assault by as many as five women. Ortego allegedly asked patients inappropriate questions about their sexual fantasies and sex lives, performed unnecessary vaginal, rectal, and breast examinations, inserted his fingers into patients’ vaginas to show them “how to locate their g-spot,” and performed ungloved examinations of patients’ breasts and genitals. Dr. Sohael Raschid: Gynecologist who drugged and sexually assaulted at least three patients, including a minor. Raschid also pleaded guilty to taking photos of patients during gynecological exams. (x, x, x)

Dr. Nathan Ward: Obstetrician and gynecologist who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl in 2012. Between 2012 and 2015, he was charged with sexually abusing a different girl. Between January and September 2016, Ward possessed, viewed, and/or shared child pornography. (x, x, x)

Dr. Gregory Norwood: Obstetrician and gynecologist who was indicted on 12 counts of sexual battery. Over a dozen of Norwood’s former patients came forward about being sexually abused. (x)

Dr. Kevin Pezeshki: Gynecologist who sexually assaulted a patient. (x)

Dr. Vyacheslav Tripolko: Gynecologist accused of secretly filming his patients during medical procedures. The charges emerged when one of his patients discovered a video of herself getting an ultrasound published on a porn site. Authorities suspect Tripolko used a hidden camera to record dozens of patients’ appointments and sell the footage of the naked or partially naked women to porn websites. (x)

Dr. Morgan Hellquist: Gynecologist who secretly used his own sperm to inseminate patients while claiming he was using a donor’s. (x)

Dr. Jan Wildschut: Gynecologist and fertility doctor who secretly used his own sperm to impregnate patients. (x)

Dr. Paul Jones: Gynecologist and fertility doctor who secretly used his own sperm to inseminate women who wanted to have children with anonymous sperm donors. (x)

Dr. Larry Andrew: Fertility doctor who faced 21 counts of sexual abuse after an investigation revealed that he engaged in inappropriate behavior with multiple female patients and employees. Andrew was accused of inappropriately touching patients during treatments at his fertility clinic and forcing female employees to give him prostate exams. (x)

Dr. Javaid Perwaiz: Gynecologist who performed unnecessary hysterectomies and other surgeries on women in order to pay for his lavish lifestyle. He falsely told his patients that they needed the surgeries to avoid cancer. He also falsified sterilization consent forms, estimated delivery dates, patient symptoms, and patient statements. He was found guilty on 52 counts of fraud and was ordered to repay $18.5 million to insurance companies that funded his fraudulent procedures. (x, x, x)

Dr. Emil Shawky Gayed: Gynecologist who performed unnecessary surgeries on dozens of patients, sometimes without their consent. He performed a hysterectomy on a woman who did not consent to a hysterectomy. Dozens of women suffered infections, psychological trauma, and other complications due to treatment they received from Gayed. 1. what country am I from? America. I got testosterone after one 1-hour appointment with Planned Parenthood and my experience is the American norm.

2. you are influencing people to hurt themselves. I am urging people to consider not hurting themselves.

3. vaginal atrophy is not a life threatening condition—while most atrophy is not a life-threatening condition, it can still easily be uncomfortable, painful, and distracting. It can make it impossible to have pleasurable sex. It may make the sufferer incontinent. that is not life threatening, but is a disability that limits the sufferer’s daily life. Besides, advanced atrophy can lead to bacterial infections, kidney infections and sepsis, which are life-threatening acute conditions.

4. VA is very treatable . VA IS treatable via creams and suppositories. However, not always completely or even at all. this article which addresses atrophy in menopausal women quotes medical professionals who report a minimal or nonexistent benefit to using estrogen creams or suppositories. And the postmenopausal women who were addressed in this article do not nearly have the extent of atrophy that testosterone induces. this article states that vaginal atrophy may be helped by estrogen “especially if symptoms are mild.” but the symptoms will not be mild in trans men. They will be off the charts.

5. not allowing people to transition is life-threatening. It is accepted that the trans community has an exceptionally high rate of suicide compared to the general population. However, no studies show that medical transition significantly lowers the risk of trans suicide. There is nothing to corroborate the idea that trans people are suicidal because of an inherent problem with themselves that must be corrected medically. the cause of transition cannot be proven to be biological, so the distress caused by dysphoria cannot be physically corrected. this spreadsheet of 28 long-term studies of the risks of various transgender “treatments” show an increased risk of suicide, alcoholism, disability, and psychological distress, which means that trans people’s suicides are not avoided by these medical interventions but instead perpetuated. It is trans culture itself that tells people they will commit suicide if they don’t transition.

In the US, people's "race" used to be recorded on the birth certificate. When the Census takers came to people's houses, they didn't ask people their race - they recorded them as whatever race they looked like.

These practices don't exist today. Every question of "race" is purely a question of self-identification. In fact, as someone who's of full European descent, I could tick the box for Black or Asian American; nobody's stopping me.

But notice what hasn't changed.

From a young age, people are still recognized as a certain "race," much like the Census taker's judgment, and viewed and treated accordingly. Nobody needs to ask how they identify.

Although these labels can be fuzzy and arbitrary, we still understand there's such a thing as labels we have no right to claim - such a thing as "race faking." If I took a scholarship meant for Black or Asian American students, it's not as if they'd rule me out with a DNA test. But people would rightfully call me a liar, not a person with an alternative identity I'm free to call myself.

Because even if the rigid, clearly defined categories don't exist in reality, they're based on something that does exist in reality: ancestry. That my ancestry is from Europe, not at all from sub-Saharan Africa or East Asia, is a fact I can never change. If we had a fully Celtic person who identifies as Black, a fully Han Chinese person who identifies as White, and a fully sub-Saharan African person who identifies as Asian... you'd question what they're even meaningfully identifying as.

So too it goes with sex. I'd be female in ways that matter whether I was "assigned female at birth" or not. Being female is the immutable reality I was born into, and if that's not your reality, "female" doesn't refer to you.
