Howdy! I am making a mini “introductory” post for my blog that I have had for 10+ years.
I care so much, it’s only fair I give others the chance to care with me. This post is not only for me to pin so others can quickly understand the space [blog] they are entering, it is to continually remind myself of the power I hold as an individual and as a community member, neither of which can every truly be separated from one another. To hide behind an empty blog while interacting with others online is unfair to the community I wish to thank.
Important to note first:
-anti-capitalist/anti-colonist -> LAND BACK! I currently reside on Turtle Island, more specifically around the Six Nations Of The Grand River. Linked below is an interactive website called “Native-Land.ca” showing many different Indigenous territories with loads of resources.
Native Land is a resource to learn more about Indigenous territories, languages, lands, and ways of life. We welcome you to our site.
-MAD liberation -> Consent means consent for every individual.
-Queer liberation -> Not one queer person is free until everyone is free. Transphobes live on borrowed time of their oppressors, don’t come crying to me when your selective queer liberation fails. “Respectability” won’t save you. Linked below is an American non-profit organization called “Life After Hate” that helps people transition out of a hate fueled life.
We are a non-profit organization committed to helping people leave hate-fueled violence to connect with humanity and lead compassionate live
-No one is “Evil”, No one is “Good” -> there are just humans who do good and bad stuff. Prescribing morality onto another human is pseudo-Christianity type judgement. I refuse to even briefly entertain “[person] was born evil”. This may seem “not that deep” but prescribing “evil” or “good” to another person, let alone a grouping of people, is a slippery slope into oppression I refuse to sit and watch. People are just people. That’s it. Not one human is above or below being “good” or “evil”. Yes that includes the most evil or good example you can think of. They’re just human.
This next one does tie into the last point, but I believe it is important to write as well
-People must be allowed to grow -> this does NOT mean allowing abuse. This does NOT mean allowing bigotry. This does NOT mean dismissing your own individual boundaries. This does NOT mean ignoring accountability. This is to highlight how every human can change for whatever reason. To believe in liberation is to understand those “unfavourable” people could too join in liberation.
-“Dr. King's policy was, if you are nonviolent, if you suffer, your opponent will see your suffering and will be moved to change his heart. That's very good. He only made one fallacious assumption. In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none.” -> quote from Stokely Carmichael, linked below
Some random facts that I find relevant to understanding my brain:
name: you can call me Luna or Lunar. I’m okay experimenting with nicknames. I used to use my irl name on here but my paranoia has caused me to change it, for those mutuals who may know me by a different name.
gender: none [trans non-binary]
race: white [Portuguese]. I come from a family of colonist, the type to whine about “what they lost from communism” as in the oppression they couldn’t continue. If my post get specifically anti-Portugal, that is why.
age: 25
religion: I’m currently learning more about Buddhism and Islam. I believe the more you study different religions [spiritual practices], the more you are able to grow yourself. I have found that feeling of spirituality in both Catholic church’s and in science lab’s. I was raised Roman Catholic. I often use the teaches of Jesus Christ to argue against Christianity which may sound odd, but those damn stories of J.C are the reason I stopped being Catholic yet the meaning and symbolism resonate deeply within me. I am unsure how much of that is programmed into me to keep me attached to the Catholic Church.
mental illness: yes. I would best describe it with the DSM terms ADHD|Anxiety|OCD|Cluster B personality. I do not believe any label forever describes an individual. I do not believe those in positions of power should be able to label those they have power over, legally putting them into a defined category. Although these categories can be beneficial in both self-help and medication [both in taking it and in abstaining], they ultimately do more harm than good. One person being able to put one label on “your file” is horrifying. I personally believe the Psychiatric System needs abolishing, as reforming will only change who has power over those. You cannot reform a system working as intended.
Physical disability: I currently consider myself able bodied, even if I may have undiagnosed chronic pain since it’s manageable enough that I’ve lived a pretty average able-bodied persons life [currently unemployed but successfully kept retail work for 8+ years]
This post will definitely be edited as some point. I don’t feel confident in this introductory but it’s better than nothing!
Thank you for taking the time to read. <3
