I have a modern chengyao headcanon which is that whenever they go down an escalator together (work rivals/partners/boss+assistant/etc) Jiang Cheng always goes first and backwards because

A) perfect way to continue the argument of the day

B) low-key hot to have meng yao at eye level/looking down on him depending on the distance (only Meng Yao realizes this)

C) subconsciously has noticed MY hates going down stairs without something that could break his fall, however unlikely; this makes them both feel better (neither of them have realized it)

D) no really it’s just to argue, plus the asshole can’t turn around and leave now, and JC is going to make his point heard by the time they get to the bottom or so help him—

But then I did think not many people would take this well? Like seeing her more as a villain? But. I can do what I want!! And what I want is revenge!!! She IS going to make a shady deal with Wen Rouhan. She IS going to burn down Cloud Recesses and she IS going to kill her husband and no one can stop me!

So. On one hand I want her to care about her kids because they remember her as warm and loving and she is their mother after all, but on the other... She doesn't know them. She didn't want them. I don't want her to be obligated to care about them. I don't want to write her being a mother when she didn't have much of a choice in being a mother.

Not sure about the details yet but she's not going to be motherly, at least to the children she didn't have a say in having so.. but not completely apathetic though!

I really like Wen Ning as a character. His core conceit of having his life and bodily autonomy irreovocably by two people who love him and being unable to ever possibly question their decisions in that is so so juicy to me. And one of them is dead so, doubly incapable of saying anything. Worse, she's arguably dead because the other's handle on his bodily autonomy is so tight, but if he admits that it means Wei Wuxian is not innocent. And if he doesn't, then he himself is not innocent and is also culpable for his sister's eventual death. (Keeping in mind, of course, who orchestrated the ambush at Qionqi Pass. We're just talking about WN/WWX's roles here).

Which!!! Is what makes him lashing out at Jiang Cheng so insane! He doesn't rightly say "You were there when they murdered my family" or "You owed me and my sister but never repaid us". No. It's "Wei Wuxian did everything he could to help you but you still betrayed him how dare you." Like???? Projection much?? I wonder if that's how he conceives of himself both in relation to Wei Wuxian and Wen Qing.

Papercraft commission of Xie Lian and Ruoye! The client requested that I pose them to look like they were dancing together, and y'all know I love dancing poses! So I took great glee in making Ruoye look extra flowy and detailed and ribbon-like to match Xie Lian's graceful movement. ^_^
