hey come outside we have:
- alive jewels
- genuine imitation wasp
- weevil looking at something
- assorted punctuation
- surprise bee sex
- whatever that’s supposed to be
Erm…
Those aren’t bees. Those are wasps. Not enough fuzz around the midsection.
are you insinuating that these little darlings aren’t bees because they’re deficient in fuzz?
those mating Anthidium are decently hairy, as far as bees go—a lot of sweat bees, orchid bees, stingless bees, and pretty much the majority of the solitary bees wouldn’t meet your fuzz standards.
in fact, the first one of these three photos is a very unfuzzy Ceratina, more closely related to the recognizably fuzzy Xylocopa carpenter bees than either is to honeybees. fuzz doesn’t make a bee!
(Ceratina, one of the augochlorinines, Hylaeus, Xylocopa virginica) + apologies for the subpar bee photos they are tiny, it is too sunny for my phone, and they are also greatly afeared of my giant face
