You don't decide how you feel while watching a movie scene. John Williams does. You felt awe and wonder the first time you saw a dinosaur in Jurassic Park because John Williams told you to. If he had scored that scene differently, you'd have felt differently.
That's not just music, it's also magic.
The Jaws theme wouldn't be one of the most recognizable pieces of music ever if it wasn't legitimate music. And familiar chords and themes in music are just the same thing as writing tropes.
