3:2 a aspect ratio Exmor RS-branded image sensor with wide ISO range (80) 125 to 12800ASA, this is back-illuminated sensor technology Exmor R is approximately twice as sensitive as a normal front illuminated sensor. the V additionally has a Super fast Autofocusing (better than most pro SLRs at just 0.05 seconds, a fast max speed of 1/32000s. The V uses a Hybrid AF system that uses 315 AF points. Shoots continuously at up to 24 frames per second. That’s like filming in 20mp (beyond 4K as a short clip). Each full burst is completed in just 6.25 seconds. That's 482.4 megapixels of data being processed each second using Sony pro processor! The V uses AF in video and face detection so you have a super action camera with AF/AE tracking for up to 20mp, 150 still photos in a row, and can switch between single-shot and continuous AF. Brightness level is up to EV19!
By using a bright high-quality ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T• zoom Lens equivalent to a 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8, that’s super sharp for a compact. A perfect lens for street photos, family and video (well video 85). The 1-inch sensor in combo gives even some boca photo effects if you push it right. Natural low light photo and video looks very good. (THX to good ASA range) and by being RAW, the super quality can show in post if you know / learn how to push it.
Video with super-fast autofocus of UHD 4K video, the RX100 V has full pixel readout without “pixel binning”. This reduces noise and improves the signal-to-noise ratio and frame rate. S-Log2, a custom picture profile, gives Extreme dynamic range, a video RAW recording at high ASA 3200+, and by using ND external or built in. S-Gamut is a larger color space than sRGB or Rec709. Most humans are capable of seeing a very wide range of colors and the sRGB color space basic default monitor is rather limited in comparison, but S-Gamut produces most commonly seen colors. The RX100 V also uses Camera RAW at 24fps 20mp. This is a post-production super capable camera, with optical image stabilization.
960 fps super slow-mo recording captures action clips like a golf swing...,(40x slow-motion effect) and the extraction of 8MP stills from the frames of a 4K movie, is like having a super motor-driven high-speed film camera at 1,800 images/minute. Note: 8mp is OK for the web and even catalog/magazine print. You can check the photo/video live, even in sunlight, to see what it will look like using a built-in pro level OLED electronic viewfinder that pops up when you need it (not just the LED screen of the back like the others). This feature is not even available on the most pro SLRs! The OLED has 2.36 million dots, (an OLED of this quality is $600+). You can also use the Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity of iOS or Android. Free apps from Sony are available to use it as a cordless-to-a-director monitor/UI remote, or use the built-in Tilt 3.0-inch, 1.3-million dot LCD monitor. The V uses a cool mechanism which allows tilting upwards or shooting from the hip in “old school Hasselblad style” 90-degrees or by 180-degrees for “selfie shooting”, or pointing the camera screen at a subject—an “actor monitor/mirror”, or use at a 45-degree angle for a concert crowd, holding camera overhead or leaning down, to get “the cat walk perspective. or on an extension/tripod stand. its light, you can put it on a drone, or hide it as a second camera in the flowers at a wedding, as a second 4K camera, or shoot inside tight space where SLRs cannot, like the inside of a car’s front windshield —“a driver’s face/headshot as they’re driving—without having to remove the windshield ”.... small and light is good !!
Use tilt-capable pop-up flash for creative fill flash bounce. The V even has zebra and ND for video built in, and there is a magnetic option of filters to use, like ultra wide, super macro UV,,POLARIZERS, NEUTRAL DENSITY, GRADUATED ND, TWILIGHT GRAD, STAR EFFECTS, DIFFUSION, .... filters etc. for the camera and the underwater housing.
Buttons/ring can be custom configured... Ap Tp M-focus AF... Tons of photo nerd custom creative use settings. If you put your head into it you can do it all :)
THE V is beyond cool. To use FAST with easy presets or manual pro power.
The RX100 V is a small pro camera at 4 x 2.4 x 1.6 inches. I will take the V everywhere. That’s how you get the good pictures! “It’s not what camera you have; it’s if you have the camera with you.” - Quoting my grandfather/dad/and now me.
Sony even has a 130 (150) feet underwater pro case (URX100A). The V has presets of white point for underwater video and photo, and pro manual white point K value like pro SLRs (you can use all controls 130 feet under water, color fq is shifting with depth !). NOW USE as an extreme condition camera: sandy beach, surf, dust-storm or in rain/snow... extreme sports. $300 is better than $2500 that other similar quality cameras cost. :). The case also gives you a FLASH hot shoe! , which is missing on the camera... note the big black button on the left controls the ring that is programmable, and check the grip/trigger and metal plate at bottom, and access to menu function on back. It’s now a PRO extreme camera!
