Time doesn’t heal anything, it just teaches you how to live with the pain.

Pro tip: If you copy and paste a link that said “no free articles” into a private/incognito browser, it will let you read the whole thing.
also if u press the “esc” (escape) key on ur laptop before the page fully loads, it won’t load any pop-ups blocking u from reading. if the article has images, then this method sometimes does not u see them. but! the words will be fine :)
If the site is particularly badly designed, you might just be able to delete the overlay itself. Right click > Inspect element and delete the line of HTML (it’ll be highlighted automatically)
hey kids there is a website called outline.com that will let you read from pretty much any news site with a paywall for free
outline.com is amazing - it hasn’t failed yet on any site that I’ve tried it on.
There’s a chrome extension and firefox extension.

This is probably the best ukulele playing I’ve ever seen.
Okay so this is a real effort into playing the ukulele and I’m so happy they take it as seriously as they do
It’s always wild when people are amazed by proper Ukulele playing because what they consider “good” is whatever mainlanders are attempting to play while asserting some “quirky” vibe. Ukulele has become trendy on the mainland and people are amazed by what we consider BASIC skills and boring same chord repetition over and over. PLUS malihini don’t even pronounce the name right (what the fuck is a yuu-kuu-lay-lee hahaha).
Here in Hawaiʻi we are busting it out (like these killer wahines) every day in ways you can’t even imagine. Half my nā hoahānau play like this!
We stay laughing. These wahines choke deadly.
They’re Honoka & Azita, internationally ranked ukelele players with original music and albums out. Heres a link to their facebook
And heres this same song (bodysurfing), 5 years later:
reminds me a little of the venezuelan cuatro, so beautiful!!
For anyone that needs some good ol’ grandma love 💕
“Hello my child, I love you my child. You will walk in beauty again with good health from me speaking to you now you will be strong again”
How Big Oil lied about "recyclable" plastics
Exxon knew.
They knew, 50 years ago, that they were going to murder the planet and our species with their oil.
And they acted.
Oh, how they acted!
They created a campaign of lies to distort the public perception of climate change.
https://exxonknew.org/
Exxon knew.
They knew in ‘73, when their researchers told them: plastics would never be recycled. There would not be a cost effective way to recycle plastic.
And they acted.
They created a disinformation campaign to convince us plastic COULD be recycled.
https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/897692090/how-big-oil-misled-the-public-into-believing-plastic-would-be-recycled
That campaign - the little recycling logos on our plastics, the upbeat videos about a future where plastic was part of a circular economy of use and recycling - convinced us to buy, wash, and sort plastic.
90% of that plastic was never recycled. It never will be.
NONE of those splashy campaigns - the announcement that all NYC school plastics would be recycled, the recycling in national parks - ever worked. They all lasted long enough to get some upbeat press, and then they quietly shut down.
This week’s NPR/Planet Money investigation by Laura Sullivan doesn’t just talk to the ex-chief lobbyists, now serving as belated Oppenheimers, lamenting the impending destruction of our planet.
It also talks to the current round of executives who have announced a fresh round of plans to recycle plastics - completely disingenuous, insultingly obvious distraction tactics to convince us that their projections of TRIPLING production by 2050 isn’t a form of mass murder.
Then Sullivan circles back to those retired executives, the ones who oversaw the first disinformation campaign, and they confirm that this latest round of promises are literally the same tactic, barely updated for a world on fire.
The world is on fire. My sky has been orange all week. Our family’s socially distanced meetings with friends in parks or back yards have been cancelled because we cannot breathe outside.
Exxon - and Chevron, and the rest of Big Oil - knows.
In a secret recording released to the New York Times, oil execs meet to cheerfully discuss how they will burn the world and murder us all but make a buck in the process.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/12/climate/methane-natural-gas-flaring.html
Their plans for climate change don’t involve reducing emissions - they’re building bunkers and hiring mercenaries to keep us at bay when we come for them. They know what they’ve done.
Exxon knows.
Exxon knows.
When I searched for the “Exxon Knew” campaign to find a link for this piece, the top of Google’s search results included a blisteringly expensive ad for a disinformation site, paid for by Exxon.
The sky is orange. The oceans are choking. The air is unbreathable. Your body is full of microplastics.
Exxon.
Fucking.
Knows.
This is unironically the conversations my relatives have
YOU HAVE THE SAME FUCKING FACE.

Update on the non-binary/trans BIPOC fund
Since I’ve started the non-binary/trans BIPOC fund, I need to find some more people to donate to. The funds continue to come in and I want to get them to those who need it the most. Right now I am just doing payments via PayPal until I can find someone trusted in the US to give out funds via Venmo and Cashapp on behalf of the fund.
For those who don’t know, I’ll explain the initiative I’ve started. I have started a fund where non-binary/trans BIPOC who need cash for emergency situations (I.e. homelessness, escaping abuse, legal funds, medical bills) get it instantly through a quick PayPal transfer. Too often, our community has to jump through hoops to just get a bit of relief. I want to help ease the money worry for some of the most vulnerable in our community. I also want to avoid donating to GoFundMes (unless it’s the absolute only option) because their platform steals way too much money away from deserving people.
Lastly, why should you donate to this fund and not a registered charity? In these times, I am seeing more and more too much mismanagement of funds from charities that help our community. Not all of them are like this, and you should definitely still donate to registered charities, but just be careful that your money isn’t just going to pay the ceo a cushy salary. Currently, 100% of our funds go to the people we are fundraising them for.
So long story short, if you are a non-binary/trans BIPOC in need, please drop your links below with a brief reason why you need some cash. No reason to disclose any traumas that are too hard to talk about, unless YOU feel comfortable. If you don’t feel comfortable dropping your link below, it is always okay to private message me. Your safety and comfort comes first.
Please signal boost this update about the fund! Let’s get some money to those who need it. Here’s the link to the PayPal pool if you wish to donate.
This fund is for non-binary and trans BIPOC who are in emergency situations (i.e. homelessness, escaping abuse, legal funds, etc).
