Borderline Depression pt. 1
I did a self diagnosis test for depression online today. Although the test is probably not accurate, it had said that I have borderline depression; I think I believe it to be true. I have periods of times when I lose interest in every one of my hobbies and don't want to do anything. When I am closed off in my room, I often have times when I lose sense of reality, and if it weren't for the posters on my white wall, I would lose it for good. I don't know why though. That's the only unexplained part. I feel that I had a pretty good and stable life with plenty of love from my parents. Perhaps my tendency to shrug off bad events put me in a state of denial, where I think past events haven't really affected me. I don't know if it's appropriate for me to post everything about myself, but perhaps I should ignore the thought and explore my past a little through this Tumblr post. Keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times ladies and gentlemen because it's going to be a long and choppy write! (see what I did there?... It wasn't funny?...Oh... Okay, I'll shut up now)
My baby hood was probably the best times of my life. It was probably when I was the most innocent and most adorable. It's funny because I don't remember most of my baby hood. I think it would be awesome if I did because my parents traveled with me a lot. We traveled to Japan, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Canada, America etc etc. (This was when I still lived in Korea btw) I still look back at my baby-hood pictures and tear up at how happy and innocent I looked, under the affection of my mom. (I'd like to say both my parents, but I don't have a lot of pictures taken with my dad.) Perhaps that was one of the issues... I can't know because I don't remember most of this time period.
Baby-hood was also the time period when my mom went through treatments for breast cancer. It was thankfully discovered quick enough. I can't imagine life without my mom. I don't remember much, but I was at my grandparents' house often for this experience. Actually, I remember most of my baby hood being at my grandparents' house. hmmm...
Now this is when I move to America for good. I was distraught. I didn't want to leave my friends and family to move here. I didn't know any English, and I didn't know much of the culture here either. It probably might have been an okay start for me if I didn't live in an area where everyone was ghetto. When I started school in America for the first time, grade 1, I was bullied. I remember doing homework on the bus and I was made fun of and laughed at. It was something to do with writing letters or something where I was told to use two fingers to space my words. The kids on my bus laughed at me and mocked me for using two fingers. I remember that those kids were in the 4th grade, whereas I was only in 1st. I didn't know much English so there was nothing I could do then. I wish I could go back and save myself. I remember the bus number, and I also remember the bus driver comforting me. She told me to ignore the other kids and told me it was good to see a kid as nice as me existed on the bus. My mom used to hate the kids that would make me miserable and would yell at them to keep away. She would also go to my school and complain about the bullies with her short English. Some kids might think it might be embarrassing, but she was truly my hero. It was probably harder on my mom to see me go through all that, than it was for me. My eyes tear up just thinking about those times of hardship.
This is still in the 1st grade. I remember hanging out with the popular clique; The typical main bitch with the other followers worshiping her and watching her every move. The main bitch was a horrible person, but I still stuck with her because she was the only "true" friend I had at the time. Now on to the details of the story. This was a time when the teacher told us to line up to go the bathroom. I was in one of the stalls of the bathroom when the main bitch was looking down at me from the very top of the bathroom stall wall. At first I was surprised, but then I laughed it off and got out. The problem started when a rat told the teacher what had happened in the stalls. The main bitch was summoned by the teacher and she was asked if she had actually climbed up on the toilet paper dispenser to peek at the other students. She replied that she hadn't and that I was the one who really did it. The teacher immediately called me up and started to yell at me. I tried to tell her the truth, but she wouldn't believe me. Another girl stood up for me and tried to tell her what had really happened, but that teacher just would not listen. She had told me she would send me to the principles office if I continued to argue with her, so I had to stop. I remember how the teacher looked and what her name was.
Only my mom and I were in America at the time because my dad was still clearing up stuff from his business and such, so my mom couldn't really spend much time with me because of work. We lived at my mom's friends house, in their basement. It had a couch, bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, but it was humid, funny smelling, and was filled with dust and bugs. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best place to live in either. I remember my mom and I having breakfast every morning together. Also, my mom and I would often comfort each other and would spend time watching TV or talking to each other. Each other was what kept us going. Back to the part about how my mom had to work thing. Because the house wasn't ours, we only had one key. I'm assuming my mom kept it because I certainly didn't have it. When I came home from school, there would be times when my mom would be late from work and I would have to stand outside of the house, without a clue on when my mom would come back. The house was often empty during the day and I was forced to wait, wait, and wait. I'm not going to lie, I cried often. Although now I know that my mom would have definitely come back eventually, I think I was a bit paranoid and insecure at the time. Waiting for my mom brought huge distress and panic. I'm older now and I still panic when I lose my keys. Of course, I have my phone with me to resolve the issues. If it's still hard for me now, imagine how hard it was for me back in the 1st grade. It was absolutely the worst. There were times when I had to go to the bathroom, and couldn't because I couldn't get inside. It was such a miserable experience for me. I do not want to go back ever. (Unless I can change it.)
I think this is where I'm going to end my first post. Writing about my whole life is going to take me a while.
