We are two Muslim women who hold radical feminist beliefs.

We stand with our feminist sisters in the fight against female oppression, with the understanding that men oppress women on the basis of sex.

We are here to eliminate the idea that religious and spiritual women cannot hold radical feminist beliefs. We stand in solidarity with our atheist, anti-religious, and ex-muslim sisters in the fight against female oppression.

Our intention is to engage in conversation that leads to understanding, and to promote radical feminist belief and theory. Our ask box is open to any and all questions.

I encourage feminism newbies to read actual books and articles (from the early 2000s and earlier- the new stuff is mostly trash) on feminism to learn to think for yourself and discern. And don't listen to the little girls on here that give you rules to follow if wanna call yourself "a real radfem" or whatever. Feminism is an intellectual and analytical tool for approaching problems and circumstances, not an identity label or club or little pseudo-religion. Yes women who understand and apply feminist principles tend to have somewhat similar values, opinions and lifestyle choice but this is not some rule-following practice.

The last paragraph is something I think so many people dig into their heads. "Feminism" has become this amorphous, blob of a 'movement', and in doing so has completely divorced itself of all weight, meaning and purpose. Learning that feminism was (as you said) an analytical tool, a lens, made so many things fall into place when I began researching radical feminism specifically. It makes me wonder though, in a 'post-truth' age where nuance online is dead and opinions are always taken to their inherent extreme, whether such discussion or analysis can even push through. I guess that's my hope with become yet another radblr blog, and offering the ability to have open discussions with others.

Divorcing feminism from it's original purpose also gave way for choice feminism to flourish imo. When 'feminism' like everything else under capitalism transforms into an identity, as something we instil as internal and self reflective, you run into the problem of certain actions being defined as either "non feminist" or "feminist". You identify in and identify out. You can spot people who do not do those things you've labelled 'feminist' and shun them. It's insane the way it's wreaked such damage.

Ironically a lot of young girls on here now approach rad feminism as an identity or lifestyle map as a way to shun choice feminism. And I get the logic. Like they see rad feminism as a refreshing lack of choice with prescriptive rules to follow. But unfortunately, this is also a misguided approach that flattens feminism into just another identity labelinstead of a dynamic tool and way of thinking.

It’s not Nara Smith who bothers me, it’s the people who suddenly develop an allergy to critical thinking the moment anyone points out that she’s a tradwife influencer.

Many people get aggressively defensive when you point out that she’s making money off of her TikTok account and selling a curated image. When people defend their uncritical consumption of her (and other influencers) content, they’ll talk about it as though her TikTok account is merely a hobby that shows her everyday life. They’ll say that we should respect her right to choose that lifestyle and that it just so happens to win her popularity and monetary gain.

No, feminism isn’t about choice and that’s why you learn about the harmful consequences of choice feminism in literally any introductory gender studies course. That mindset does absolutely nothing except uphold the status quo and discourage thinking critically about our choices and the societal factors that influenced them.

It’s no coincidence that this particular image of a beautiful, visibly affluent young woman with three young children is gaining popularity in our current political and cultural climate. It’s no coincidence that more and more influencers are buying into this specific image of the homemaking wife while obscuring the invisible labour that goes into such a task. It’s not surprising that in a time where women’s economic anxieties are growing, that the leisurely affluent lifestyle of an influencer homemaker is becoming increasingly popular.

International Women's Day has become a patriarchal commercial event where everyone talks about every single issue except the exclusive plight of women. It's always "feminism=equal rights for everyone" but never how the whole world exists on domestic, reproductive, economic and emotional labour of women, and that we women as a class suffered patriarchy for more than 12,000 years. Our struggle gets equated to the non-existent problems of our oppressors-m3n, who magically become victims of the same system they benefit from. We, women are the only oppressed group who are coerced to include everyone and everything in our rights movement, even on a day, which is supposed to be specifically for us and our cause

the problem with thinking like this is that no woman would want to remove the hair from her body if it were not for the intense conditioning she goes through from the day she is born. this conditioning tells her that her natural body is: unnatural, dirty, unhygienic, exists for male pleasure, and either ‘too much’ or ‘not enough;’ while the male body on its own is considered ideal. women are conditioned to spend money and time on molding our bodies to a particular ideal that exists for that very purpose: our obedience. we are conditioned to despise and be disgusted by our natural bodies as one (terrifyingly powerful) facet of a system that feeds on women’s subservience. 

as for the ‘it doesn’t affect you’ argument, heads up: it does. every time a woman sees another woman hairless, or makeup-d, or groomed to the point that her natural body is hidden, she receives the message ‘that is what a real woman looks like.’ every time we receive this message, the conditioning self-perpetuates: we hate ourselves more, and we spend more time, energy and money on sculpting our bodies within an inch of their natural appearance. every time a man sees a hairless, makeup-d woman, who he knows to have done these things for his pleasure, he receives the message ‘women are inferior. women are inherently wrong, and they exist to please me. hey, she CHOSE to!’

Hey idk how up to date you are regarding what’s going on in Israel/Palestine but I wanted to just express my utter sadness and disappointment with some of the feminist responses to this (esp on Twitter). They’re treating anyone who is pro-Palestine as pro-Hamas (saying they’re b*heading babies and committing mass r*** which none has been verified as of yet) and calling many woc / Muslim women as terrorist sympathisers, terrorists, r*** apologists. Even JK Rowling’s tweet (‘now let the snivelling apologists for rape, murder and torture try to justify this [baby story] too’) I’ve always admired her but I’m beyond disappointed with what she wrote. They’re all using these words when they have never, ever said a word about Palestinian women and the horror they go through. They talk about women in the IDF as innocent when they are oppressors. So many women whose work I respected I’m now seeing them stoop to incredibly racist and xenophobic language and it makes me angry, sad and overall dejected. I left this radfem/gf community cause I was feeling inklings of it but now it’s full blown and I don’t want to come back. Women of colour are just victimised campaign fodder for their cause.

My stance presently is the apartheid must end the Palestinians should have their land and statehood back, the movement for Palestinian liberation will involve different factions and no doubt I know violent ones too. That doesn’t change the fact that Palestinians should be free because that is when the violence on both sides will end. Every opportunity at a peaceful resolution to this has been closed, Israel constantly acts with impunity, I cannot in good conscience go on with some pretends of a moral high ground of ‘no violence!!’ from the comfort of my own home when they feel they have no option but to die fighting than die at their hands.

I do agree with you and think a lot of the radfem community is adopting a very black and white stance on this issue. And being contrarian for the sake of being so.

Obviously rape is wrong. Murder of innocent people is wrong. But to say that Palestinians should stop fighting for their lives and that people who support them are rape apologists and terrorist sympathaizers is just supporting the genocide of an entire population and the rape and murder of yet a whole lot of people.

Women who actually want to condemn these horrible acts should, in my opinion, treat it as one of the universal problems of war and male supremacy, and separate it from the politics behind said war. But sadly a lot of them are just using rape and murder as an excuse for their racism.

I think what really gets me about this stupid debate about whether you can be a feminist or contribute to feminism while having a male partner is just that... you simply can't. Y'all are simply wrong.

The bottom line of patriarchy is men having sexual access to women. That's it. That's why you'll still see some men supporting abortion or some men supporting women's right to work and an education. Many don't think to isolate women from their friends. Because while they're objectively good things, men can still benefit from them.

A woman who works can support her deadbeat husband. A woman who gets abortions still has sex with men. Women who gather together complain about men but still ultimately support each other's decision to fuck them.

But what you'll never see is a man supporting women not partnering with men. Because there is no way a man can benefit from that.

Okay sure. You voted in favor of abortion. You're still fucking a patriarch. Don't you see how that's counterproductive? Patriarchy can still exist if abortion and education and good working conditions are all provided to women. What it can't survive is women completely separating from men.

The point of this post is to say male partnered women have a net negative effect on feminism. It's probably because you're essentially blaming women for 'not being able to give up dick'? Maybe that isn't what you mean by it but that is how it comes off. You're saying heterosexual/bi women who want to have a romantic partner automatically cannot be beneficial to feminism or that their contributions are invalid, and surprise a lot of people are going to disagree with that.

I don't think sexuality should be reduced to that and that we should penalize women for wanting to act on their romantic/sexual desires. I think it's more productive to advocate for women to educate themselves on feminist literature, raise their standards for men and prioritize their relationships with the women in their lives. Separatism is really beneficial in most aspects of life, and I agree that we should strive for more parts of public life to be separatist. That being said, you're never going to be able to live a life completely free of male influence or presence.

I think it's more effective to empower women with knowledge and higher standards than to debate on what women are better feminists because they choose to be celibate or not.

of course many women are gonna identify as non-binary if you tell them that womanhood is a feeling, something you have to be conected to, to feel and to be conscious of everyday. it's not. and most women actually don't feel anything.
