ARC REVIEW: Revolutionary by Colleen Cowley, Final book of the Clandestine Series
NON SPOILER REVIEWS
This is a story of redemption, of dealing with past fuck-ups, and having people you love by your side to support you in your quest to redeem yourself and save the world while at it..
~~
The story picks up right after it left off in the last book, Radical. With no job and left to take care of Peter who has no insirance, Beatrix shoulders the burden of worry both of Peter's life and on her family's support given her lack of job.
They deal with hospital bills, paying the roof over their head, Washington's endless cook ups to bring them down that turns more violent as time passes, forwarding women's rights, Peter's lack of job, and his' R& D job from before offering to solve all of their problems in exchange for the very thing he left for in the first place...
As sad as I was to see the end of Beatrix and Peter's story, it is good to see this couple deal with problems, both old and new, and how time and time again they conquer them with the same ingenuity that they had dealt with all of the others in the first books. It is something I have always loved about their characters.
Anyway, if you had read the first books, you know that there are the REALLY BIG PROBLEMS that kept the ball turning in the last two books.
Here, they FINALLY deal with it and barely got out of it alive.
This is a story of redemption, of dealing with past fuck-ups, and having people you love by your side to support you in your quest to redeem yourself and save the world while at it..
For me, this was a 5-perfect wrapped-up ending with a bow!
Hope to read a few snippets of their life at peace...
Or Lydia's...
ARC Review: Radical by Colleen Cowley, Clandestine Series Book 2
Now, that was a sequel!!!
This time Cowley's 'Radical' gives us a zoom in view of Beatrix and Peter's relationship and continues the unwrapped revelation of Book 1 'Subversive's ending.
This time Beatrix takes off on a mission to start an underground movement of women magicians who have been informed all their lives that they cannot do magic and have been viewed as the lesser of the species because of that, narrowing their choices to domestic duties and unable to take political positions because of their unmagical state.
Meanwhile, Peter continues to deal with the weapon he helped create and mulls over in anguish on the state of his relationship with Beatrix.
WHY I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT:
1. The angst!!!
Reading how they loved each other but cannot do anything about it because of their principles was so excrutiatingly painful and sweet. I had to stop to cry quietly a few times because I cannot sob as I would have liked as to not wake the dogs.
2. How the major reason of them holding back into making a relationship was resolved.
The reprecussions of The Vow in their relationship was brutal and somehow still right. Peter put Bea in a compulsion to tell him the truth and follow orders and basically took her will away (they were not friends then). It would be weird of Beatrix was okay with that given her conviction for women rights and equality. So, the angst was understandable and I read the books to find out how it would all work out with them.
Radical's ending gives us a hint on the resolve of this issue. So it's something to look forward to in Book 3.
3. The adventure!
This time the adventure and excitement was more subdued than Book 1 where the world building just started. Here, the author inticately knits the complexity of her characters. Still, the League's struggles and Beatrix's underground efforts starts the story. And the fighr between the government and the ladies movement becomes more intense than in Subversive.
ISSUES:
1. I had trouble placing on what time period the story was set. There was an ambulance but no smartphones and they had beautiful dresses and stays. Men having long hair was still a thing. Luckily, Colleen Cowley explains the stuff so you can check it out on her site.
2. Ahhh!! Book 3 cannot come sooner.!
This is an honest review in exchange of the ARC. This book will be released this October 2020.
ARC REVIEW: Subversive by Colleen Cowley
I am so lucky that I got a copy of this one! This book was set in a world where magic is a commodity and only a few (only men) can wield it. Obviously there would be: ⢠Omnimancer- official town magician where townspeople can request help for ailments, potions and stuff ⢠A wizard tired of the secret high profile R&D life who goes back to town ⢠A breadwinner lady who is part of a known anti-magic league forced to be his assistant * What can go wrong?
Why I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book:
1.Dual pov.
There was no guessing of the motivation of the characters.
2.Great writing! Why is this author not famous???
I am sure she will be and I am so lucky I get to read the first of her works!
3. I can imagine this as a movie. With dark windy setting, crisp leaves, beautiful clothes, old grungy house full of potential. I would watch it when I'm feeling blue or happy or want to curl up during rainy days with a good story to get lost in. 4. Lovable Complex Characters: Peter (the wizard), Beatrix, Ella, Lydia This one is the best. I loved how they all started truly awful or some, truly principled, some determined, others looking for their purpose. Reading throughout the book, I did not feel even once they were caricatures to make a point or characters to fill some trope.I felt like they were real people with real experiences and what they felt , I felt too.Reading this book was an experience! (I certainly do not make long ass reviews for books I only 'liked') * Peter: He was born illegitimate, his father left, his mother and grand ma died and people just don't give a lot of chances to bastard boys. I almost cried when he looked at Beatrix' garden and saw the flowers and how he thought there were nice to look at but thinking they can't be cooked. I felt that. I knew that feeling. I ... just, Colleen, how do you know these things?? * Beatrix : I loved her! Her principles were strong. She raised her sister and put aside her life to make Lydia's better and I loved that she was human enough to sometimes feel resentment, a jealousy and part envy to her sister, who after all her hard work had reached a point in life she thought was over for her (Lydia going to college and becoming more educated than her). * Beatrix and Peter : Their relationship was slow burn (although I knew at the first sentence they were the ones who will get together). There was a lot of parts in the book when I thought it would be too hard for them to reconcile. Beatrix was a hard ass feminist, and did not want to give up her scrap of rights to a man who likes to trample all over them. BUT, WE ARE LUCKY BECAUSE COLLEEN CROWLEY is awesome and wow.. just reading the book, i felt how intimate their relationship was. How they knew each other so intently without even them talking about it. 5. Who does not ladies who now their worth and fight for it to death? This book has a lot of dialogue on woman's rights and how hard it was for women to carve up a space for themselves. It was also a major contention in the book and have been a core element on how Beatrix makes decisions on her love life and her work. 6. Magic with no cat sacrifice! They do it through leaves people! Leaves! (No spoilers so I won't continue) 7. THE AUTHOR WAS WONDERFUL!! * she gave me an ARC copy *she has this whole section in her website that is dedicated for readers who want to be told ahead on trigger content (it has helped me curb some of my anxiety on HEA's) link:Â https://colleencowley.com/details/
My ONLY ISSUES:
1. I don't have the second book! :(((((((((((((2. I guess the cover could be better?? Still, the story was wonderful and I just loved it and would reread it again and againGot this as an ARC copy and will be thankful my whole life.
ARC REVIEW: Make A Scene by Mimi Grace
I am so lucky that I got a copy of this! It was recommended by a book blogger that I follow on twitter and if you believe my luck, the author have generously provided an ARC to book bloggers, even small ones like me.
This was a good and quick read for me:
I LOVED THAT:
1. The characters are both already established persons and have stable careers.
2. Their chemistry was not instant but very satisfying.
3. The story was open for future stories of the side characters.
4. Divorce was painted in a new light. There are just some people who are better off separated. (NOT THE MAIN CHARACTERS)
5. The story was beautifully written.
I WAS SURPRISED THAT:
1. It had a considerable amount of sexy times. With the cover, I was expecting it to be a little mild side but they were both mature and I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
MY ONLY ISSUE IS:
1. The book was too short. :(Â I WANT MORE! More of Duncan and his life at work and how he arrived at that age with success, more of Rettaâs story, more of them together both fighting and making up.
Finally finished reading Miss Kelly Siskind's coming novel, 'The Beat Match', in one night.
It was that good!
Received an ARC from author
~
I love how romance authors have always managed to speak about serious social and political issues while coating it with delicious, swoon-worthy, sweet romance goodness.
This time and this book, after reading, I particularly was left thinking of :
* Gun control issues and how it has destroyed lives and relationships
Leaving me thinking that in this matter, I am lucky that my government is picky on who gets to hold a gun
⢠The society's and state's lack of direct intervention and relief measures on its homeless citizens
With the little flashbacks on Annie's past and how the author has remarked several times the need to view people on the streets as humans who got several bad hits in life
I am a political science student and this book made me promise myself that if my path ever leads to legislation, or in NGO's, I will not only try to understand how much this issue is embedded in my country but try to address it . This people matter and they have gone on hard times and all of us should not settle on giving them scraps of food or a few loose change to ease our guilt and-
Ahhh maybe I'll take this topic up as my thesis
Thank you Ms. Siskind!
Now, on the romance side of things:
⢠I loved that they knew each other so much already and how seamless their relationship was. It was just a flow from friends to lovers that is marked by a platonic kind of intimate friendship that lasted for years
⢠I loved that Wes knew what he wanted and had a clear line between his stress relieving hobby and the job that makes him flourish
⢠loved that Annie took on challenges head on and decides to act on it whether she was chasing a mystery man to discover his identity or help her boyfriend find the evil planted in his company
⢠I loved that the uncovering of Falcon's identity happened early in the book because I do not like elaborate big lies
⢠I loved that the author continually gives good books to read and now she is in my -automatically read all her stuff if she has a new book out author.
And,
I loved how Clementine and Jack has a cameo on this book and now,
I will be re reading again, for the third time,Jack and Clementine's book because of that short cameo
In case it was not clear on how many times I listed how i loved this book,
I loved it and it is a five!!!
So, I am trying a new way of wrapping up stuff. Instead of writing long paragraphs for all of the books I have read, I tried summing up the highlights of each book.
Warning: These books are more than the bullets I have assigned them so, donât take my word for it and go pick up the book!
Animal Friends
Review on Tomek Woroniakâs, Eden.
ARC from Netgalley
I kept putting off reading this one because it was 236 pages long and I had other good books lined up. I forgot this was a graphic novel and is a fairly a short read. Anyway, I remembered it today and did not want it hanging around my head anymore and decided to read it.
And I have to say,
Wow
I did not expect that
To put it briefly we have this guy (G) who is still waiting for a verdict from the reigning council who arranges new human settlements in their community based on previous eating habits and treatment of animals.
Basically, if you have been an ally to the animals and did not in your life eat their âcarcassesâ, remained complicit and enabled their abuse you have a higher chance in being able to live in the beautiful part of the city. For those who did not pass the judgement, like Gâs parents, are relocated in the riffraff and basements.
In short, after an illegal visit to his parents, conversations with his vegan girlfriend Maya (who lives in the villas) and rat cohabitant, Sylvester, and then, eating Eden (drug like stuff who makes them see God who gives them advice), Gâs verdict was âmaladjustedâ, which I guess was not a verdict he deserved, because his friends protested. He ended up being on the run with hi supportive girlfriend.
:::
1.      One thing that struck me the most is how they contemplated their verdicts. If you have in any way before tried to avoid eating animal carcasses and have made efforts to avoid enabling animal abuse then, your verdict will not be an automatic bad one.
This implies that they have factored the element of knowledge and ignorance. The moment that you know that you shouldnât eat meat or cheese or that animals shouldnât be put in slaughterhouses but ate anyway and have enabled all this stuff then you get thrown into the part of town.
I thought that was a soft punishment. Just getting relocated. No equal revenge on all animal abuses.
2.      I have an issue with this one because it shows the serious lack of knowledge on vegetarian dishes. Cultures all over the world have been on a plant-based diet since ancient times and they did not suffer for it. Why? Because vegetarian food is delicious if you just know how to cook or have someone else cook it for you. I went to a Daoism seminar last December in Taiwan and spent the whole 9 days eating pure vegetarian food from meals to snacks. Everything was amazing, and I ate my full up to 3 bowls per meal and still lost weight when I came back home.
So really! Vegetarianism is not all about salad with soy sauce dips. ** But in context, I have a feeling that the exaggeration in the novel was purposeful, so no hate đ
::
Ultimately, this graphic novel contributes to the rising movement of animal rights, who have today earned more influential allies and forerunners who have radically gave impassioned speeches that made everyone uncomfortable and hosted rallies all over the place. Donât worry animal friends, the rescue is coming!
I loved how uncomfortable this novel made me feel.
I have been trying to go vegetarian for months, but still eat meat from time to time. But on an extremely lesser scale.
I may have to do some serious rethinking on my sporadic eating lifestyle.
So, try picking this one up too. If there is anything 2020 has taught us, nothing is too crazy.
In the far future, you may find yourself waiting for a verdict and cursing yourself why you did not take Tomek Woroniakâs, Eden as a warning.
Peace out!
Paranormal Favorites!
It has been two days since I discovered the gem that is Canva and I am making stuff like this ever since. I see a lot more of this stuff in my future. I will use these headers as soon as I finish the Must Read list that will accompany these pics. So excited!
Biweekly Wrap Ups
Despite my current announcement to participate in #jenkinsjuly I am sadly in a bookslump and decided to postpone my supposedly first Jenkins book, Indigo. I was so excited but I did not want to force reading and then hate the book just because I did not feel like my previous reader self. Anyway, I am I'll go my way picking the book up the next few weeks(still July) and hope to cure this book slump with a few good movies to rewatch.
How to Find the Next Good Book to Read: A Guide to Good Sources of Book Recommendations
This is a guide for readers how to find new books to add to their TBR PILE (to-be-read pile).
There are a lot of blogs and sites out there that recommend books and authors to read and follow and in this article, I will be listing some of them that I use and have from time to time helped me select books to add to my hoard.
1.Reader FriendsÂ
I mean the ones that YOU REALLY KNOW and who KNOWS YOUR TASTE. There are only a few of mine who love romance, sci fi, fantasy and paranormal but they are still a good number of people to ask.For example I have a friend who is a major classics and literature reader and when I am in a mood to read in a more serious tone, I ask him what book in his usual genre should I read.
Your years or months of friendship will be a good factor of a book probably passing your taste given your relationship. And just imagine if you manage to LOVE THE SAME BOOKS. The booktalks, the late night chats, the fights on who was good or not! The Zoom Book Clubs!
Anyway, I became a reader because of a well-meaning friend lending me one of her precious books (Stehanie Perkinsâ Anna and the French Kiss) and I have never looked back since. Friends are awesome and sometimes they are a catalyst that change your life forever. (I secretly think that if my nights and all the other extra time was not spent on reading or reviewing books, I would have spent all my nights partying and am now raising a child with the father out of the picture).
2. GoodReads
I know there is a lot of hate against goodreads now because of its still technically backward app. There are a lot of glitches in the app, and you can sense that it is traditional and difficult at times to navigate to , but it is a good source of book recommendations. It is basically the biggest book app out there with almost all the authors active and answering questions there. Also, community reviews are great in numbers on that site.Â
Personally, If I want to know how the general community feels about the book, GOODREADS IS STILL MY IMMEDIATE GO TO SITE.
3.Twitter
Given that almost everyone is on Twitter, the bird app is a good place to look for recommendations. Following the authors you love would be a good start. They are usually active and are very good people who also recommend the books of their author friends. I have from time to time found books because my followed author praised it in her tweetÂ
and the best thing is that when you tweet about them and tag them with @, they usually heart your tweet, reply, follow back or give you free copies.(The last one has not happened to me yet but I keep my fingers crossed)
4. Youtube Book Vloggers
This has been a rising vlog genre now. People who have pretty book shelves and usually a lot of money, spend the bulk of their time reading books, reviewing them, recording their thoughts on video and receiving ARCâs (advanced reader copies) from publishers. The really lucky ones are able to interview the authors and years later become authors themselves! There are two that I know of.Â
5.Bookbub
One of the prettiest sites yet! It is more of the site for authors than reviewers. There are options there where the authors themselves give book recommendations of books by ther authors. You are also notified with good deals for ebooks and blogs that give book giveaways (I have not won a single one YET).
6.Books turned to Movies
The Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, The Percy Jackson Series, Pride and Prejudice are just some of the good books turned to movies. To those readers who have seen the movie first before reading the book. You are one lucky cookie to experience the story all over again!
The best thing to do is a movie is out and you loved it try searching if it was a book first and ta da! Another addition to your TBR pile!
7.Book Reviewers
They are the people who review books like it is their job and there are really professional ones. I personally follow Chai, Jilly, Nullifer Ozmekik in goodreads and they are dolls who put you in book clubs with them.
8. NetGalley
If you want FREE BOOKS BEFORE THEIR RELEASE DATE,this site is the key! They give free ebooks and graphic novels for up and coming authors and even famous ones for readers to give free feedback in return. This helps debut authors for their advertising and some publishers are generous.
The only thing is that in entering the site you need to have at least reviewed the already available books before you get to be chosen by publishers when you are the one personally asking for free copies of the book you want instead of picking up whatever is available.
9. TheStoryGraph
Is an up and coming new site that readers in twitter are recently making some noise about. They have an âOrdered For Youâ feature that recommends you books to read after you answer their survey about your tastes. It is a very good site to find underrated books of your favorite genre and is founded by a Black woman (supporting the BLM movement).
And DONE!
Next review topic is still under deliberation.Â
Happy Reading, fellow BookDragon!
FICTIONAL CHARACTERS I WISH WERE TRUE SO THAT I COULD DATE THEM or stare at them from afar
HIWow! It was hard choosing a first topic to talk about. I felt like I needed to talk about something big and glamorous to blow the brains out of⌠of someone. But alas, this is my best, for now..
So, I chose the first one that I had listed on the top of my head ever since I first started reading.
<ta da!>
BOOK BOYFRIENDS!
This is a list of MEN or BOYS who tickle the romantic bone just right! (I had dreamed that there was such an organ in the human body, just near the stomach)
I selected these FICTIONAL BOYFRIENDS as potential members of my harem If I ever defy normal Filipino conceptions of marriage and take up polyandry.
The criteria I used is simple.
Choose the fictional partners that I can imagine existing in real life (not too much of an alpha and rich or good looking that borders on unbelievable). The type of characters that I can imagine talking to, who I find fascinating and can be a potential long-time partner, casual hook up or best friend.
I originally wanted to stick to 10. But as I wrote, a lot of names popped up and I canât not put them in the list but still, I am sure after I have this article published (Char! Haha) there will be a lot of âShoot! Why did I not put him on the list???â exclamations. So, maybe I will eventually make another continuation list???
This list is based on the BOOKS I READ so if you have a bet that I didnât list, please donât hesitate to give a recom. A new book to swoon over is always welcome.
Most Importantly: READ THE BOOKS WHERE THESE AMAZING CHARACTERS CAME FROM. I liked them because of their wit, their personality, how they interacted with other people, their dreams and how their love for their other half made them better people or vice versa. MEANING: THE BOOK WAS WICKED AWESOME AND THE AUTHOR WAS A GOOD STORYTELLER.
(I must apologize for the lack of female to female romantic partner mentions given my current lack of FF Romance reads, which is something I will rectify soon. But if you have recommendations, feel free to comment below and maybe add some MM ones too!)
Anyway, meetâŚ
1. Clayton Danvers and Lucas Cortez
Kelley Armstrongâs Women of the Underworld Series
Genre: Horror fiction, Paranormal romance, Urban fantasyÂ
This series is adapted on screen called âBittenâ which is available on Netflix.
Clayton Danvers is the strong, silent, and smart type. He is a professor in a university where he met Elena(his student) and a werewolf! His devotion to Elena was sweet, passionate and faithful to the point that bordered on obsessive but not off putting. The best thing about him was how un-Alpha he was. Although he was strong , his relationship with Elena was a partnership.
This is what romance needs today guys! A PARTNER not a rich and condescending daddy!
Lucas Cortez, on the other hand, is a lawyer/sorcerer, young master of a Cabal Group, who informally separates from his family's company to pursue a life as a lawyer protecting the rights of other magical beings against abusive Cabals(including his family's). Unlike Clayton, he was slender with brown eyes behind glasses. So basically, a cute, smart nerd who is the 'good' black sheep of the family.
(they are in separate books with different female romantic partners)
2. Quinn Sullivan
Penny Reidâs Neanderthal Meets Human
Genre: Contemporary Romance
QuinâŚ*sighs*... So awesome! He was quiet, mysterious, unsmiling, rich and had an almost perfect handsome face. I love that the author imagined small flaws like almost unnoticeable crooked bottom front teeth and differing sizes of his ears with one prominent feature -his hawk-like stare. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, he took Janie's quirkiness in stride. Asking questions, debating, protecting, annoying, kissingâŚ. You know the drill..đ
3. Beau Winston
Penny Reidâs Beard in Mind
Genre: Contemporary Romance
On first read, Beau was a good looking, charming good boy who is looking for his path after his twin, Duane left to pursue his own.
What I loved about him was how he dealt with Shelley's(Quinn's Sister) clinically diagnosed mental illness(OCD). He researched about it and made efforts to make it easier for her and was just overall supportive.Â
It was awesome how much the author has put an effort in researching OCD facts to make details perfectly accurate and how it was NOT at all a hastily placed plot device to get the story going.Â
4.Ted Beaudine
Susan Elizabeth Phillipsâ Call Me Irresistible
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Hello to my favorite romance book of all time!
I think I have read this many times already and have to put off re-reading it again for next year(2021) to give my brain some time to forget some of the plot. We need to keep the mystery going! amiright??
Anyway, Ted was the perfect genius, good boy and people pleasing guy. He is perfectly polite, straight laced and has basically carried the whole town in his muscled shoulders for years. (Did I tell you he was the Mayor?)Â
Meg's carefree life and struggles basically tickled his good boy bone the wrong way.
Read this novel to witness how a perfect boy and wastrel girl turned out in the end. Seriously Please Read!
5. Patrick Jason 'Pick' Ryan
Linda Kage' Be My Hero
Genre: Contemporary Romance
He was the tattoed, orphan softie on the wrong side of town who thankfully did not grow up a thug because of a vision he got when he was young from a moled witch.
One day, his tinkerbell, the star of his visions, enters the bar he works at, but PREGNANT!
Gosh! I loved this so much. This was part of the Forbidden Men Series but can read as a stand alone. Although, I advise you to read the other books also, they were all awesome!
6. Colin Bridgerton
 Julia Quinâs Bridgerton Series
Genre: Historical Fiction/ Romance
Charming, green eyed and younger son, Colin was considered a catch of the ton.
He had a case of wanderlust and couldn't stay at one place without getting an itch. I can't say more without giving a major spoiler, but I loved that the author made him major insecurities.
Because secretly, too perfect is boring, right??
7. Sean Cassidy
Penny Reid and L.H Cosway's The Player and the Pixie
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Wewowewowewo. *sexy flames*Â
Imagine a gorgeous jerk of a jock with sexual inexperience and a rainbow haired goody goody shoes girl (whose brother is his ultimate enemy) who is willing to be the TEACHER!
But it was more than that, I liked how the authors highlighted the perils of kleptomania, the privilege of the rich and how gorgeous jerks are set straight by their women who would not suffer in a relationship with a class A insensitive jerk just because he was good looking and rich.
This was a ride! I lost count how many times I re-read this book.
8. Elend Venture
Branson Sandersonâs Mistborn Trilogy
Genre: High Fantasy
Elend was the angsty boy part of the elite class who is disgusted by his privilege and looks for ways to make the government better by reading outlawed books that spark rebellious and forward ideas. In short, he was a closet revolutionary.
Throughout the series there were some major changes in his life from a closet reader to a person who pursues ideas he just once read in books?
How do they say it? Walk the talk or in his case, Walk the read? (talking about it would mean death)
9.Archer Devereux
April Whiteâs The Immortal Descendants Series
Genre: Time Travel Romance/ Historical Fantasy
Dumdumdumdum. Imagine a conservative college boy from the past your future self time traveled in, spends time with you, helps you in your quest, likes you secretly and is shy about it and becomes a vampire stuck in immortality waiting to meet the 'present' you.
Talk about love lasting through time! This was a great book if you love time travel stories with historically accurate and interesting facts injected heavily into the story!Â
10. Rupert Carsington
Loretta Chaseâ Mr. Impossible
Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance
A hellion younger son of an earl who loves an adventurous carefree life who is without inhibition, just goes along the ride and has a set of surprisingly caring and dependable muscled shoulders.
Meets a beautiful tempered scholar who needs his help finding his kidnapped brother in the sands of Egypt.
This is perfect for those who love adventure romances, and topics on the papyrus, mummies and the french and British looting conflict in the African colonies.
11. Sebastian Ballister
Loretta Chaseâ Lord of Scoundrels
Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance
My favorite Historical Romance book ever!! Like Ted Beaudine's book, I try to read this at least once or twice a year to forget some of the plot and keep the mystery going.
He was called the Marquess of Dain and has been raising hell since childhood and in the present day France where he meets the blue stocking Jessica. The author throughout the book continually refers to them as the Beauty and the Beast.
What makes this book SPECIAL is how intelligent, witty and funny most of their conversations were. It's funny how many books are under many sexy, funny and witty lists on goodreads but only some of those on the list are actually true! THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THEM!
Jess was not annoying or shy or too much of a fighter and Dain was not too obnoxious. It was perfect.
And if you have not read this book or others from this author or genre, I command you to start reading after you finish this article.Break some cherries!
12. Hardy Cates
Liza Kleypasâ Blue Eyed Devil
Genre: Contemporary Romance
A blue neck Town boy chasing dreams outside of town to leave the shithole of a living. He has white knight complexes but leaves the damsel in distress after the case is solved. Also, muscular and has the blunt and bluest eyes on TexasÂ
This book I have also reread many times because it talks about dealing with domestic abuse and moving on after an abusive relationship, dealing with people who have narcissistic disorder and the life of the privileged.
13. Connor âMadâ Rogan
Illona Andrewsâ Hidden Legacy Series
Genre: Paranormal Romance (PNR)
Wootwootwoot. Imagine a former military but now head of the House 'Mad' Rogan successfully publicly kidnapping you in broad daylight using only wads of cloth. Talk about a powerful telekinetic!Â
I loved that he was once again, A partner in the relationship and not an overprotective ape despite him being awfully more powerful than Nevada.
14.Phil Tucker
Jennifer Crusie Welcome to Temptation
Genre: Contemporary Romance
This is written by an author whose ALL BOOKS WRITTEN i have read and loved.
Phil is part of a long line of male Mayors in the family and meets almost fugitive-like Sophie.Â
Read as they deal with each other, try to take down a production of town porn video, deal with an enemy, try to dirty Phil down to win the next election and spend time reading a romance classic.
15. Ansel Guillaume
Christina Laurenâs Sweet Filthy Boy
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Known for the many explicit sexy times that can be read throughout the book. So, if you want to stay green in the ears, skip this one till you're legal.
Ansel is a sweet, full of life French Lawyer celebrating with friends in LA and Mia with her friends also, celebrating their newly graduated from college selves.
Ansel is soft, a daydreamer, magnificent bringer of orgasms and game with all things Mia is willing to do.
They married through Elvis and decided to not divorce yet to explore the beautiful France and a possibility of a good relationship.
AND DONE!
I actually have a lot more but these are for now.
CONSIDER THIS LIST AS A BOOK RECOMMENDATION FOR AWESOME ROMANCES WITH WELL WRITTEN AND SWOON WORTHY CHARACTERSÂ

For those who know me, this book review blog has been a long time coming. I felt that I have read books since I was in my 3rd year in high school because of my generous and amazing friend Josi and has been a fan of the written or listened (audiobooks!, I tried them once or twice) word since.
My types of books usually range from contemporary adult romance, contemporary YA fiction and romance, dark fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal romance or the great PNR, general fiction.
But I can be persuaded to read books not in my usual comfort genre pool with a promise of a good story to read.
The main reason I have really went to blogging is because of my love for books, their authors and my always wanting to share and recommend stuff to my friends and I realized, If iâm going to voluntarily just spread my opinion on what to read or not to read or what makes this book awesome or who is the latest author who landed her/himself to a scandal, I might as do it in a serious platform.
So... Watch out for book recoms in the future!
I usually announce a new blog entry:Â Â
on my twitter , instagram , and has long been on goodreads.
