I want to drill this into everybody’s head:

The United States of America has the highest prison population in the world

Black Americans and Latin people make up the majority of this population (many of whom are non-violent offenders)

Federal Prisons in America require that their state keeps their prisons at a maximum occupancy at all times.

The 13th amendment did not entirely abolish slavery…just one form of it. It remains legal through industrial prison system

Here’s what’s really perverse: prisoners, who cannot vote, still get counted in the U.S. Census. The more prisoners a county has, the more representation it gets, even though the prisoners cannot vote. See how that works? The more black and brown people they lock up, the more government resources and political representation they get. Even though those prisoners have no say and cannot vote.

If county-A has a population of 50 voters but no prisons, and county-B has a population of 50 voters and 50 prisoners, the county with the prisoners gets more government funding and more political represention. This is sometimes called “prison gerrymandering” and it is used in redistrictring.

Not so fun Fact: Southern states that reliably vote for Republicans also have the highest prison population in the United States. (source). So mass incarceration is a double whammy. It’s both a form of voter suppression and a tool to strengthen white people’s political power.

Lemme try and explain

The first four drawings are Sammy and Zuzanna, characters I'm trying to write a story for lol

The next four were for a French project (oui oui baguette) I did back in 2019

We were to create at least four sets of clothing (you know your girl did the bare minimum 😎😎) and then describe them in French

I was trying to avoid something that was being done constantly, like seasons lol, so I did street entertainments from different places

In order:

Canada, Cameroon, USA, France

Please don't attack me for Canada, unicycles were a frequent result when I googled ;v;

The rest of the project was done on paper, and sadly I didn't take pictures since I did it last minute oof (I think it looked nice though, hehe)

Finally, we have a drawing I did for a YouTube friend! It was super fun to create and one of the few pieces I've created in a while

About a week ago I posted this.

I’ve been getting horrible messages like this in my ask for months, including:

After getting the message saying “Just go kill yourself” I was completely done dealing with this person’s horrible messages and replied with just an “Okay.” and logged off tumblr.

About a week later I logged back on with 17 messages in my ask, most of them from the anon. I scrolled down and at first when I logged off, the anon messaged me things like

I scrolled up more and all of a sudden they started sending me more and more messages like

This was extremely surprising to me. I thought “After all those horrible messages you sent to me for MONTHS about hating me and wanting me dead, you say ‘sorry’ and that you ‘cant be responsible for someone’s suicide’?”

But I guess the lesson goes like this:

Found this really good thread on twitter explaining what exactly is happening in Australia right now, because I haven’t seen much on Tumblr.

And because I don’t think the thread touched on it, when Scott Morrison, our PM finally did visit the affected areas he forced the residents to shake his hand (literally forced, he grabbed a woman’s hand even though she said no) and then walked away when they tried to talk about the situation and ask for help.  Google his name and you’ll find videos.

Countless more animals have been lost over the last two days, adding to that half a billion total. That’s not a typo. Half a BILLION.

500 homes were lost over new years alone.

Okay, lemme explain this:

My sister's friend made her this amazing drawing in second grade (They're in fifth now)

And I had just finished a drawing on my school chrome book and was bored as heck

And I really liked the design of the girl in the drawing

So I decided "Why the heck not" and redrew it

I liked the sketch, but I grew impatient real fast because of the previous drawing I had just done

I went too fast on the line art (cri cri) and messed up quite a bit

Buuuut I didn't want to redraw it again so I just went ahead and colored it

Again, I was still a bit impatient and colored a bit too darkly in some places, but it's fiiine

Anyways, I got this result and despite the mistakes, I'm glad I didn't just abandon it lol
