I love all of these. The angel of the the deep's wings are canvas, held up by an anchor. The angel of war's wings are blades, and its shield is a coffin. The angel of solace is a mutant, its arms deforming into wings. Geiger counter in hand, it guides us through the danger only it knows. Was this angel once a man? Corrupted now beyond hope, he can at least save others from the same fate.

A soulless machine concerned with nothing but efficiently maximizing profits would quickly figure out that all the things live CEOs do to make their employees’ lives worse are actually losing the company money, and investing heavily in good training, high morale, and retaining skilled workers produces way more value for the company in the long run.

A machine cant be corrupt or have ulterior motives. So a fictional super AI would be the best at any given job.

That being said, real world AI tends to be... dumb. And prone to inheriting issues of its creator. Easiest way to avoid that is black boxing the AI into a learning simulation where it runs 500 businesses every second, checks what works best and what does not every generation. The result will either be an AI that instantly uses all its resources to buy yellow-ish apples, because it decided that the fastest way to achieve its "victory conditions" is that, or something very good at leading.

How is apples leading to victory you might ask, because giving gifts to employee improves morale, improved morale boosts efficency, and apple happens to be the most cost effective gift to boost morale. In its mind,giving every employee 200 apples means that every employee works at 347% capacity, and it uses the money to buy more apples, resulting in a feedback loop where you get infinite capacity per worker as it uses all its money to buy apples.

Fragility of AI learning is always worse than you expect.

okay i really wanted to like the new trump-clinton movie because !!! period dramas!! but the costumes are so bad if you know anything about the era like—

• i get that they gave melania trump an older look to emphasize her seriousness but her dresses are way too fifties and not twenty tens enough, corsets had actually pretty much fallen out of favor a few decades before the twenty tens

• hillary clinton was a politican so her makeup shouldn’t have been that neon. that wouldn’t be a thing for like three more decades.

• donald AND bill literally look like they could be from the modern day. people had sleeves back then, guys. even MEN wore clothes with sleeves and no one thought it made them look less manly (also side note if anyone knows anything about history they know that trump and clinton were both like seventy years old when he ran for president. but the actors they used were hot so i don’t really care l o l)

• seriously this upsets me so much when is a costumer gonna be brave enough to put a man in sleeves in a period drama?????? it was a weird time for fashion but that’s just how it was

• (and in the same way, men wore very little makeup until like a hundred years ago WHY do all movies insist on putting all the men in full makeup when that’s not how they looked back then? like yes it looks weird but that’s the past!)

• ugghhh apparently no one told the costume department that strapless floor length gowns were only a formal thing for women. so many background characters are just wearing them all the time. look in the scene in the coffee shop and the barista is wearing a floor length strapless gown. they were actually called "evening gowns" back then because they were only worn in the evening!

• by the way midriff tops were a peasant thing you wouldn’t see anyone in the upper class wearing them of either gender so idk what all of those were doing there

• hillary's gown at the inauguration ball scene was LITERALLY copied from the wedding dress of an english princess from the eighties. i read somewhere it was because they wanted it to look regal and it was beautiful but like......if you know the era that’s actually a couple decades off, and stuff like big sleeves (at least the women had sleeves in this movie lol) had actually not been fashionable for a while when the movie is set

anyway the acting was good and Donald/Hillary are my historical OTP so that was cute but the costumes really took me out of it :/

Ok I know I'm being incredibly petty here but this is really bugging me. I am about to introduce you to one of my favorite historical garments, the "maxi-dress". These were lightweight almost structure-less floor length dresses that were worn as day wear in the early 21st century. I'm pretty sure strapless maxi dresses were popular in the early twenty tens, which for this movie is downright accurate. You can tell the barista's dress is supposed to be a maxi-dress instead of an evening gown because its made with a matte fabric and evening gowns were usually shiny. But the op is right the dress totally wrong because maxi dresses were more of a summer thing and that scene is supposed to be in the middle of winter. Also even though strapless maxi-dresses were day wear they wouldn't be worn to work. I know it's weird but people used to think shoulders were really sexy in that time period so strapless garments wouldn't be worn in a work setting. Seriously, the dress codes in American schools were designed to teach youths how to dress professionally and there are so many recorded instances of girls in educational settings being sent home because their shoulders were visible. The reason it was only girls being sent home is that it was basically taboo for men to be wearing sexually attractive clothing. And remember they thought shoulders were sexy. So bare shoulders were considered even more scandalous for men than women. No man would wear something that didn't cover his shoulders outside of sport and other physical activities. That's right. Sleeves were considered more masculine because shoulders were sexy and only women were allowed to be sexy. I kind of wish one of these movies would frame the lead male character's lack of sleeves at a formal event as being as rebellious and sexually provocative as it would have been perceived at the time.
