@word-v0mit well for starters, their relationship is portrayed like that of queer characters' in the shows whose creators are homophobic: we practically never see them kiss (either it's too dark to see anything, or the angle is too bad to see anything. oh or these scenes don't make it into the show at all). then there's their chemistry with characters of their respective genders (mulder with krycek, scully with the lady from "Ice" etc). not to mention how equal they are, which was unusual for the 90s and you still don't always see this level of respect between a male and a female characters. and Mulder looks and dresses like a butch lesbian, I don't know what else to tell you, except that all the queer people I know who watched this show see themselves in these characters. okay wait I thought of something else, which is the entirety of the episode All Things. it's a great example of subverted gender stereotypes, and a wonderfully transgender scene close to the end there, which I'm sure was totally unintended but it feels this way to me
