If anyone is wondering, it’s because IRL Tosen Jordan was the dominant horse boss of the Ritto horses, which included IRL Gold Ship. Tosen was reportedly very assertive but also very attentive to humans and would follow instructions smoothly, being pretty much the antithesis to the younger Gold Ship, who rarely liked other horses, let alone one trying to impose on him.
