A six year old once asked me what adulthood is like.
“You can eat ice cream for dinner every night if you want,” I told him.
His face lit up.
“But you have to buy it yourself.”
I’ve never seen someone go from delighted to devastated as quickly as that little boy.
This is the most accurate description of adulthood I’ve ever heard.
Hi I made this. Discuss. Left column is the first word.
me: “this chart doesn’t even make sense, it’s just the same words on both axes, what the fuck is a goth goth”
me, after looking at it for ten seconds: “this is the most accurate thing I’ve ever seen”
Kids get a $2 discount if they read a book aloud to this barber in Michigan while he sorts them out. The kids also get quizzed on what they read. “It’s not just about reading, but also about comprehension,” said Ryan Griffin, the barber who created the program at The Fuller Cut barbershop in Ypsilanti. “It hit me like a book! I was like, that is so responsible to have these kids not waste their time just either sitting there doing nothing, or playing a video game. They can read,” Griffin told CNN. Almost all of Griffin’s clientele is African-American. He says he really wanted to offer his younger visitors books with a strong, positive message. Via CNN

My man doing it the right way
damn this is so amazing
my little brother is hella dyslexic and basically just has to memorize what pronunciation goes with each spelling bc wtf are phonics? so having encouragement like this to read aloud from a nonjudgemental adult - and having a distraction from your haircut bc my lil bro is also ADHD as shit - is super fucking awesome. read ryan griffin’s quote at the end, this is a good man, and props to him also for finding positive books about being Black or mixed for his kids to read!!
This man is amazing!
A while back I heard my friend (male) insult another dude by saying, “You look like the kind of guy who wouldn’t go to Wal-Mart to buy his girlfriend a box of tampons” and I still think about that crowning insult sometimes
My dad once called another guy “someone who thinks loading the dishwasher once in a while makes him less of a man”
I like your dad already
one time my dad’s boss was giving him shit for always leaving work early so he could get home and help my mom with me when i was a newborn and his boss said “i’ve never changed a diaper in my life” really proudly and my dad responded “i’d be ashamed to ever admit i was that worthless of a husband”
This is by far my most popular post.
Shout out to mentally ill people who dropped out of school
- shout out to the kids who were “so bright” and ‘heading somewhere” and had to drop out because school was too much to handle along with mental illness
- shout out to the kids who struggled to get where they got before they dropped out
- shout out to the kids who tried and tried and tried and still couldn’t finish
you aren’t unintelligent because you dropped out of school, you aren’t a delinquent or a bad person because you dropped out of school, just because you did what you had to doesn’t make you a bad person
my parents just got back from vacation and my mom befriended an octopus???? she scared off a small shark (because you don’t want them near you in the water) and realized the thing it had been circling was a little octopus, which then came over and stayed near her feet for a few minutes. I’ve never been so jealous in my entire life
she didn’t even realize it was an octopus at first because it was pretending to be a starfish. i love my new octopus sibling.
I’m glad you’re all so supportive of my newest family member
Honestly during the battle of Hogwarts I feel immensely cheated at not having more Peeves v. Voldemort time because Peeves can’t die and is a complete asshole and I just really want that interaction in my soul of how furious Voldemort would be with Peeves for just existing. Voldemort can’t banish or kill Peeves so he would be trying to direct his Death Eater troops with Peeves floating three feet to the left repeating everything Voldemort says in a mocking high-pitched voice.
Movies like “Brother bear” “Lilo & Stitch” “Atlantis” “Treasure Planet” “Mulan” are the epitome of not only aesthetically pleasing 2d animated movies, but great plots and strong ass character arcs and shows that diversity is not forced if you walk out of your damn house and i hope we can someday do them justice and bring back the making of movies like those masterpieces and i think they will never be forgotten if we dont let them, so heads up and bring the next generation of 2d animated movies to the animation field now
the most Fun john mulaney fact i’ve learned today is that he had the opportunity to audition for kevin from home alone but his parents said no.
please take a moment to imagine 7 year old john mulaney as kevin mccallister

I fucking love this play
I’m sorry but when was someone going to tell me that in the year of our lord 2018 that the fucking Backstreet Boys put out a new song
This……might be the most bizarre thing to happen in 2018
My 8 year old self would be thrilled tho
@superqueerpasta 2018 is a fever dream
I am dying because this song is stuck in my head after one listen and I genuinely like it. Like I wasn’t super into boy bands so I don’t think it is a nostalgia effect. Also, I love that AJ is still committed to his Aesthetic ™ of wearing whatever the fuck he wants.
Backstreet’s back?
Alright
