Listen. At the end of the day, with abortion rights being actively taken away, no fault divorce and birth control at risk of following the same path, and so much of the culture shifting to something that looks like the handmaid’s tail, let ALONE what’s happening to our sisters in Afghanistan, India, Iraq, and so many more countries (https://theirworld.org/news/10-countries-where-girls-education-has-been-attacked/), it’s insulting to women to prioritize the right to “identify as whatever gender you want” instead of the right to autonomy regardless of one’s sex. These issues we face are sex-based. And they are EXTREMELY serious. And we are wasting time arguing about “sex is bimodal not binary” or “but I don’t feeeeel like a woman, ya know? So am I even one?” We need to liberate ourselves, not deconstruct the gender and sex binary. We are not free yet, so we don’t have the luxury of doing that. We need to focus on what matters: we are united based on our sex.
Edit: Intersex people are an interesting exception to the rule. They’re oppressed as well based on sex, but in a different way. In fact, I have PCOS, so you could even call me intersex (although I am, for all intents and purposes, female). But we can talk about it. I want to learn more about the nuances of sex, especially socially. But please, let’s call a spade a spade. Everybody knows what female means, and women are oppressed because we are female.
