reblog if the first musical you listened to was not Hamilton
i hate that watching media in a nonbinge fashion means that I can’t experience the fandom at all if I don’t want spoilers.
i finished them. they were amazing. castlevania fandom has less Trevor than expected but is cool. nice art. eva also has very good art
Can everyone who reads this PLEASE reblog it?!?!? Libraries literally saved my life as a child!
Being abused at home, bullied at school and lost in the world, the library and all the books I could escape to the most amazing worlds, kept me alive!
I would walk to the library, and spend all day, from 10 am to 9 pm reading there!! I got special awards for how many books I read, I wrote little blurbs on why i loved the books (probably why I love to BETA and do ARCs)
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Just hit the green arrows and the reblog!!!
As a 50 year old woman, the library offers me so much. Digital art pads to borrow, 3D printing, book clubs that are face to face (yeah, the introvert likes face to face because a moderator will stomp on anyone getting snarky)
New books in LARGE PRINT! I’m visually challenged and as much as I love my kindle, The feel of a real book in my hands will always be a beloved feeling!
Our library also has quarterly books sales of almost free books!! For 5$USD we get in a day early and can buy as many as we want. Anyone else has to wait and there is a limit for the first 2 days.
Also many, many libraries have inter library loan(it may be called something different). This means if they don’t have the item you want, they can get it for you. This may include photocopy/pdf of articles. This can also include along with books and DVDs, microfilm/fiche which is also a huge resource. Check around for libraries that are listed as depositories if you want to look at government documents.
Remember that many colleges and universities have open stacks for the public. You will likely have to pay a membership fee but you will get to stuff.
I love the library ☺
The library was one of my favorite places to go as a kid and I still live to go and just. Sit and read. Or do homework. The university I’m at has a massive 8-story one I love to just wonder around in~ Great places
Libraries are amazing places, we need to protect them to ensure their continued existence.
I used to wander about the fiction section in my local library, and choose books with the most interesting titles - I discovered two amazing authors that way
If you feel disconnected from your local community & want to find ways to get involved, seriously consider spending some time at the library. Go to some events! Organize a reading group!
Support your libraries!
Read banned books!
People who don’t learn can be more easily controlled and told what to think!
Libraries are how I get literally any media. I don’t have as much time to go in person anymore but they are still saving me via the websites. I love them, and envy those within walking distance because they can come in an don’t have to bring the giant medical textbooks home
re-reblogging because I recently learned that my girlfriend didn't know you could reserve books. Like no, a fair number of libraries, are a part of system of libraries, have a catalog with a website where you can go a look up the book you want and ask them to please send it to the library near you and don't let anyone touch it for a bit
this was my childhood. apparently it wasn't everyone's but Check Your Library's Catalog! the librarians can help
(also libraries mean you don't have to buy the book. it cheap. and you save space. go to library, have fun, read, do community, they make great small town date spots if you're non-disruptive)
I keep seeing posts trying to educate on what a wheelchair "looks like" if someone is using it long-term, often aimed at helping with character design. I have noticed that sometimes people on here can treat certain traits of active manual chairs as more "desirable" or "independent" than others, so here's some pictures of what active manual chairs that are still for independent use can look like. Not everyone's chair has a low back, no handles, no armrests, 90-degree angle frame!
I've tried to use product promotion or visualiser images where possible to avoid having photographs of any individual's chair; where that's not possible because visualisers don't have every option, I've tried to use photos from second-hand resellers. Image descriptions are in alt text.
Active chairs can have tall backrests.
They might be with or without lateral supports (at the sides to help keep the torso upright). Note that tall backrests often taper to free the shoulders more, so people may still push independently. Pictured: Quickie 5R with Spex Mantaray backrest, Motion Composites Apex with NXT X-Tend backrest. The Spex is much higher support than the NXT.
Active chairs can have headrests.
Nothing wrong with supporting the neck and head. Doesn't make anyone less of an independent active person if they need positioning support. Can even keep people active longer - being able to sit upright does wonders for daily activity compared to sliding into a melted puddle or not being able to hold your head and neck up. Pictured: Ki Mobility Rogue XP (blue) and Tilite Z (pink).
Active chairs can have armrests.
There's even different types, like tubular swing-away armrests and single-post armrests. They can be positioned to not interfere with propelling, or be removable. Pictured: Quickie Nitrum/Quickie Nitrum Hybrid; tubular armrest on blue chair, single-post armrest on orange chair.
Active chairs can have handles.
Sometimes they're attached to the top of the back canes (the posts the backrest is attached to), and sometimes they attach to the rigidiser bar (the horizontal bar between the back canes) or lower down the back canes to keep them out of the way of the user's shoulders. And not having handles does not prevent strangers pushing people. Pictured: Kuschall K-Series; integrated push handles on black and red chair, clamp on handles on pink chair.
Active chairs can have anti-tippers.
Yes, many active users choose not to use them because it makes wheelies easier, but they're very useful for saving you from unexpected falls, and there's nothing wrong with having them. Many are removable and some swing up out of the way to allow wheelies or going backwards down a kerb. Pictured: Tilite Z.
Active chairs can have different frame angles.
No, seriously, 90 degree frame angle can actually kind of suck. That's a really tight angle to have your knees at all day every day, and a lot of people find that painful or it can risk complications. 90 degrees is good for maneuverability, but it's too tight for most users. It's common to see angles from 90 degrees to 70 degrees. Pictured: Kuschall Champion; 90 degree angle on green chair, 70 degree angle on blue chair.
If you're wanting to understand the different parts that can make up an active manual chair, whether because you're a wheelchair user wanting to be informed ahead of a prescription appointment or someone designing a character, try tinkering with the options in Sunrise Medical's Quickie Nitrum visualiser or the several models in the Kuschall visualiser. Being able to see what the options are really helps.
Not all options are in these visualisers because some are considered specialty (particularly headrests and different kinds of trunk and leg supports), and they only cover specific manual active chairs and not powerchairs or custom standard chairs, but it's a helpful place to start.
from what i've seen and heard, discord is either a hell pit of evil demons that try to destroy your whimsy to transform you to a fellow creature of darkness or the purest, most whimsical place to party in with your friends
what about both? both is good
Gender based violence is a tag. and I know it probably refers to abuse and power struggles and other horrible things, that need sympathy and to be taken seriously, but my first thought was 'I feel so much gender euphoria I need to punch something'
July tomorrow you know what that means

just so everyone knows miracles are possible: i found a post from 2014 that I discovered offsite, long before i had an account. i remembered the vague gist, and one line. and i found it on this eternal hellsite. this wonderful fucking hellsite. I FOUND IT. didn't even take an hour.
finally. my network effect log (and full reference for my idea of MB's body yayy)
love this art
hey, it's okay if the only thing you did for pride was exist. i'm glad & grateful you are in the world. your survival is a celebration.
yay. i felt stupidly bad about not executive functioning well enough to participate. will be openly queer in the rest of the year
I love gender expression. or maybe gender perception. personal gender perception? (there's a word here but I don't know it.) Because are long skirts conventionally masculine? NO! But I feeling so fucking masc in them it's amazing
I was getting pretty fed up with links and generators with very general and overused weapons and superpowers and what have you for characters so:
Here is a page for premodern weapons, broken down into a ton of subcategories, with the weapon’s region of origin.
Here is a page of medieval weapons.
Here is a page of just about every conceived superpower.
Here is a page for legendary creatures and their regions of origin.
Here are some gemstones.
Here is a bunch of Greek legends, including monsters, gods, nymphs, heroes, and so on.
Here is a website with a ton of (legally attained, don’t worry) information about the black market.
Here is a website with information about forensic science and cases of death. Discretion advised.
Here is every religion in the world.
Here is every language in the world.
Here are methods of torture. Discretion advised.
Here are descriptions of the various methods used for the death penalty. Discretion advised.
Here are poisonous plants.
Here are plants in general.
Feel free to add more to this!
An exceedingly useful list of lists for writers.

Yes, the nine heroes of Hyrule have a buddy system. Twilight insists on this. Do you know the chaos that comes with them all being dropped in a Hyrule alone??? Because he does! He's the one who usually ends up tracking them down!
Wild unsupervised will either end up terraforming via explosions or acquiring a cult following. One time that following had been made up of Hylians. Another had been bokoblins.
Wind, in contrast to Wild, will instead end up joining a cult, of his own volition no less, only to completely destroy it in a matter of hours after being found. He will also know everybody by name and be recognized by every town's population in an eight mile radius.
Time, as much as he loves his mentor, will fall back on kokiri behaviors. Finding him involves a lot of pranks that he and the gaggle of children he inexplicably obtained at some point won't ever claim credit for.
Hyrule, without another of the chain to pull him along, will hunker down and trigger the most elaborate and anxiety-inducing game of hide-and-seek Twilight has ever had the displeasure of participating in. He hides so well he practically falls off the face of the Earth. One time, that was literal.
Legend, despite his pride and grumpy demeanor, will find himself adopted by the nearest elderly lady. He will become one with the town. He has always been there, everyone will say, and no one he asks will admit to the presence of a traveler of his appearance. Legend gets gifts of baked goods and the odd trinket, and if any other Link finds him before either himself or Time, he will bully them into also helping said elderly. Nothing else usually happens after that, because by that point Legend has a buddy and gets convinced to leave the town that's trying to absorb him into their community, much to the obliviousness of Legend himself.
Sky, on multiple occasions, went from "I found a lost child" to "This is my foster now" in the span of twelve minutes. He has also, on one very memorable occasion, wiped out several monster camps harrassing a town, killed some corrupted monster the locals claimed to be an evil god, and was then worshiped as a benevolent deity after returning with the thing's eye as proof. They built statues. The last time they visited said town the locals built him a church. Sky himself is still under the impression they made him mayor, not a god.
Four... Four does Four things without a buddy to ground him. Sometimes that's holing himself up in a library for two days without the poor librarian's knowledge. Sometimes that's wandering around in a way that makes him mistaken for a lost child taken by the fairies. Sometimes that's taking over the nearest blacksmith workshop and getting his nineteenth master's certificate.
Warriors, bless the man, will somehow end up with contradictory reputations everywhere he goes. The children and the elderly adore him, the middle-aged think he has the worst vibes imaginable. He'll be recognized simultaneously as a man of honor and a womanizer in the same village. He'll stop a thief in the streets, then turn around and end up arrested because someone framed him for property damage.
He himself is not immune to the insanity of being left alone to his own devices in an era not his own, according to the others. He's been told he has a tendency to avoid civilization unconsciously and was once the origin of a cryptid ghost story that gained oddly enthusiastic traction amongst the children.
