The grass is damp. A misty morning fog swirls around as the sun shines brilliantly through it, evaporating in curly tendrils. Person A walks barefoot across the grass, heading toward the side of the house where the garden grows. B is sitting on a shallow concrete stair, spade in hand, lounging amongst the potted plants that will soon be residing in the ground. "Growing plants or growing up?" A laughs. "Growing attached to you," B says. "Aww, that's cute!" "So are you." "Smartass," A says. A rolls their eyes and stretches, arms extended above their head and back arching. B simply stares, distracted by A, smiling and observing the curves of A's body as A moves, and noticing how A always shifts their body weight to their left leg and juts out their hip when standing idle. "Is there a problem?" A asks, glancing at B sideways. "Nope." "Then why are you staring?" "Just... Lucky, that's all." B smiles, a mysterious and cryptic look crossing their face. There's no point in hiding it anymore, B realizes. "I'm lucky to have someone like you in my life." "Thanks, A. I appreciate it. I guess I'm lucky, too." "I love you," B states matter-of-factly. "Love you, too." A examines a nearby flower from the garden. It's been obvious that they love each other for a long time, but neither had said so out loud. B gets off the step, and joins A. Carefully, B plucks the bloom that A had been examining, and lightly tucks it behind A's ear.
