My personal takes on why each character from ACOTAR needs therapy ASAP
(Note - I'm not a professional, just a psych major with an obsession with analyzing characters)
(Other note - I'm only just now starting book three, so I know characters can change)
Feyre - PTSD from Under the Mountain, obviously. Seeks validation in those around her due to her insecurities from her family dynamic, unfortunately, often with men. Justifies all her actions because she was always viewed as the "bad" or "lesser sister for so long, whether they're good or bad.
Elain - Feels as if she is the "peace keeper" of the family, which is why she never joins in conflicts. Keeps a positive attitude to mask any actual emotions - possible anxiety???
Nesta - Anger issues - Uses her anger as a mask to keep others out and build up walls to avoid getting hurt. Her "better than everyone" attitude stems from deep insecurities in the first book. ~Still a diva~
Tamlin - Too many things to list. Needs extensive therapy.
Note- a little thing I noticed most don't is that he has a tendency to trauma bond a lot. Lucien had a terrible father as well, which led him to be close to him because they had that in common. The first time he ever takes any sort of interest in Feyre is when they both bring up their toxic families
Lucien - Canonically depressed. Needs trauma counseling for his awful family and PTSD from his former lover's death and Amarantha. Anxious attachment style and loyal to a fault due to his abandonment issues. Prescription: GIVE THIS MAN LOTS OF HUGS
Rhysand- Trauma and PTSD from Amarantha. Generational trauma he's been holding onto for way too long. Keeps people close to him just to make himself feel better about himself for his own faults. Night Terrors.
Cassian- Insecurities and masks negative feelings with humor. Early stages of alcoholism, but could be solved with some CBT sessions
Azriel- The brooding and self-loathing is strong within this one. Needs some trauma counseling for his past and some self-esteem boosts. Chases people out of his reach as a way of "reaffirming" why he is unlovable
Amren- Anger issues and possibly a narcissist???
Mor- Family trauma, but otherwise girlie is way too secretive to figure anything else out
(feel free to share your opinions in the comments! These are my own interpretations, but PLEASE no arguing in the comments with each other. If anyone wants a deeper dive or another character, please ask!)
