Nazi scientists after getting a job at NASA
you ever realize how able bodied people just are not expected to do things that cause them excruciating physical pain? like they’re just. not
if i shouldn’t use my cane because i can sometimes technically walk without it, it would just hurt like a motherfucker then abled people should no longer be allowed to use potholders to take things out of the oven because i mean
well they could technically pick up a hot pan with their bare hands. it would just hurt like a motherfucker
*sees an abled person using potholders*
i just think it’s really sad that you’re giving up on yourself like that
Because SOMEHOW people need to be reminded of things from literally ten years ago:
"Free the nipple" never meant "free to not wear a bra" or "free to breastfeed." Those were adjacent conversations that of course "free the nipple" supporters would boost, but that was NEVER the core of free the nipple.
The core of free the nipple was always that the breasts of people perceived as women ("female-presenting nipples" to use some Tumblr speak) are in no way different than the breasts of people perceived as men. And that since the chests of people perceived as men are not sexualized and are allowed to be exposed, so too should the breasts of people perceived as women. If men can be topless, so can women. If it's inappropriate for women to show their chests, neither should men. It isn't sexual assault for a woman to walk around barechested, because it isn't sexual assault for a man to do so either, and breasts are NOT sexual organs.
Claiming breasts are inherently sexual organs is factually and morally wrong, it is sexist and controlling, it is a tool of oppression, and it defines normal body parts (and bodily functions) as sex which leads to inherent sexualization of people with those parts. It leads to 12 year olds with large breasts being accused of seducing 40 year old men or trying to distract and corrupt their classmates.
"Free the nipple" doesn't mean "free the nipple in a god-fearing way." It means FREE THE NIPPLE, full stop, end of sentence. It means to free the nipple of the faulty social constructs that cast it as a sexualized, malicious force of seduction instead of a normal body part that should be free of expectations of shame or "modesty."
Breasts and nipples aren't shameful, sexual, immoral, porn-adjacent, kinks, a distraction, or things to be feared. They are a part of your body just like your elbows and ankles, and being afraid of them, thinking they will corrupt some innocent person or that being exposed to them is trauma akin to sexual assault, is the entire fucking problem.
Free the nipple, not just for breastfeeding, not just from bras, but from the fucked up social constructs that cast them as malicious instead of innocent. Stop trying to sanitize "free the nipple" for puritanical, conservative audiences who already hate you and the rest of us. You aren't helping anyone.
Free the nipple means FREE THE NIPPLE.
audiences have no idea how to be uncomfortable anymore
watch movies that make you uncomfortable read books that make you uncomfortable go to plays that make you uncomfortable watch tv that makes you uncomfortable look at paintings and sculpture and artwork that makes you uncomfortable. it is spiritually and morally and ethically and artistically really really good for you. think about why you are uncomfortable. what biases do you bring to art? what biases does the art bring to you? how do you reconcile this? how does your worldview grow and expand and change? all this and more will be answered and available to you if you just engage with art that does not coddle you and treats you like an intelligent human being that can sit through discomfort

About 6 years ago, I was in the hospital with awful pain… I was asked where it hit on the 0-10 scale and I said a 9… because I was told “10 is the worst pain you can imagine”.
I have a pretty vivid imagination. I was in the worst pain of my life, but I imagined that having my limbs torn off by a gator would probably hurt more. So I said “9”.
Turned out I had 6 simultaneous kidney stones. As anyone who’s ever had one can tell you, even a single kidney stone is monumentally painful- famously so.
I had 6 at once. 4 in one kidney, and 2 in the other.
When the doctor figured out what was wrong with me, he was floored that I hadn’t said “10”. Floored that I wasn’t screaming.
I told him about my imagination. He asked if I had chronic pain. I told him yeah, and that the reason I waited almost 10hrs to come to the hospital when I started was because “it felt like period cramps”.
His advice? “Any time anyone asks you where you’re at on the 0-10 scale? Add four to account for my chronic pain daily threshold.
This pain scale isn’t as useful, but it’s funny.
I saw it in my orthopedic surgeon’s office.
A useful pain scale:
If you have chronic pain, your baseline may be 6. A good day may be 5.
Don't downplay that for the doctor. If your recent bad day was 8 or 9 - if you regularly have days that hit 8 or 9 - say so.
Part of the problem with doctors ignoring women's pain and people of color's pain, is that people who are disadvantaged are told to "suck it up" a lot, and they downgrade their baseline at 2-4 to zero.
Fuck that.
Describe your pain as if you were an overprivileged white guy who's never actually done 8 hours of manual labor in his life.
This scale has been helpful for me too. It's based on the previous one, but takes into account the higher pain tolerance that comes with chronic pain.
I don't have an original source but it was on tumblr somewhere.
Sabrina Carpenter ratio'ed the White House the other day.
The dog walking bdsm pic lady has more moral fiber than Taylor Swift. Who knew?
feeding her stuffie must live on....
isn't it crazy that a woman being gender nonconforming literally just requires her to exist in her own body without making any changes whatsoever. why does the fact that i don't wear makeup and i don't shave and i don't wear a bra have to be some political act. why can't i just fucking exist
