Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? Holy shit. This is actually the first time I’ve seen a clear picture of the absolute obliteration of Tony’s chest via the missile. In the movie, it’s shot from Tony’s perspective, so it’s choppy and fast. But now, looking at it clearly, there is no freakin’ way he should’ve survived this! I mean, look at it! There’s at least a dozen marks where freakin’ metal shrapnel entered his chest cavity Not only that, but several of the wounds are quite sizeable! And with the speed at which a missile explodes, it’s quite possible that the metal went through the damn bones in Tony’s chest! Even if they didn’t, the rib cage isn’t all encompassing. Several pieces could’ve gone through the spaces in between the bones. Tony should’ve been dead on the sand the minute that bomb hit him.
He is one tough motherfucker! Don’t let anyone, ever, tell you different.

Legolas’s pupil size isn’t the problem here, though. 5 leagues is 17.262 miles. The curvature of the Earth means that for a person of average height, the visual horizon is less than three miles away. Even if your vision is telescopic and the atmosphere is perfectly clear, you can’t see around the planet. If they were standing on a hill, it would have to be at LEAST 198 feet above sea level in order to see the horizon at 17.2 miles away, with nothing tall in between. Which, knowing Rohan, isn’t impossible.

Also, for what it’s worth, there’s absolutely no reason to believe that the curvature of Middle Earth is the same as that of Earth.
There’s no evidence that Middle Earth curves.
Yeah there is. The Silmarillion states that the world was curved after the fall of Numenor (I believe), preventing access to Valinor. But Elves (among others) can travel the straight path across it.
So middle earth is round, but not for Elves because magic.
So wait, the reason he can see that far is because Elves just have the ability to ignore the curve of the earth? That’s awesome. It also means that no matter how good your optics got, you would always want elf eyes manning the spyglass because they can see arbitrarily far while everybody else is limited by this ‘horizon’ bullshit.

Why wasn’t this Toph’s future instead of becoming a freaking cop. This would have made so much more sense.
My favorite part of this is “when I am no longer fit to rule” because
1. Implying Bumi was fit to rule at any point
1.1 except maybe in the sense that he was completely shredded
2. That he has no plans to die, (nor would death necessarily make him unfit to rule), but that he apparently intends to like. Tuck his arms and legs into himself and just roll off into the sunset.
3. Given that the Earth Kingdom has an actual ruling family that causes some drama in LoK, Toph continuing to cause monarchy confusion is both 100% in character and fucking hilarious.
Toph takes over as King Bumi the second and everyone is like “no that’s not how inheriting works” and Bumi is like “No no she’s right, I did say “inherit my title!”
When toph is no longer fit to rule, she instills bumi (Aang’s son) as her heir and he is known as bumi 3.
Her first act as ruler is to ban herself from Omashu’s transportation system, thus fulfilling one of her life goals.
