anyway yeah DELETE YOUR FUCKING ADVERTISING IDS
Android:
Settings ➡️ Google ➡️ all services ➡️ Ads ➡️ Delete advertising ID
(may differ slightly depending on android version and manufacturer firmware. you can't just search settings for "advertising ID" of course 🔪)
iOS:
Settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ tracking ➡️ toggle "allow apps to request to track" to OFF
and ALSO settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ Apple advertising ➡️ toggle "personalized ads" to OFF
more details about the process here via the EFF

We’re 1 week in, and ridiculous armour shenanigans are 40% funded, which is awesome! Massive thanks to everyone who’s donated so far!
Blumineck is raising money for a suit of fitted historical plate armour for both fun and serious historical and fantasy testing.

Aw man I can't remove that bc of the migratory blogger treaty act of 1918. very well.
Equiping an armor tutorial
i'll prob make more bc i love talking ab armors
While in general I agree with a lot of OP's points here, there's a few things to consider:
Plate armor is expensive and needed to be custom fit to the wearer. This means that at no point in history was it the standard for the majority of an army's soldiers. The elite knights would buy and maintain their own plate (well, their squires would do the maintenance), while footmen would get by with substantially less protection.
If a character is sufficiently concerned with their appearance, either through vanity or an attempt at intimidating their opponents, inadvisable accessories and flourishes might be added to the armor. Doubly so if they never actually expect to see combat and it's mostly ceremonial gear.
Plate armor comes in two varieties: battlefield gear and tournament gear. The considerations for both are slightly different. A lot of the more restrictive helmets we see are tournament gear, while battlefield gear compromises absolute safety for better mobility.
Part of the reason I'm so adamant about encouraging people to get comfortable with bugs, my own interests aside, is because we cannot have a bright, solarpunk future without them.
A green future is not a bugless future. It is, in fact, a fairly bugful future. If you care about ecological stability, then you need to start with bugs, because they're the most at risk with our current use of pesticides.
It's hard to express to people born after ~2005 or so how many insects there used to be. Even in cities. All the time. Everywhere. Swarms of gnats in the air during the summer. So many fireflies that it was disorienting. Couldn't drive even on an urban highway in some places during spring without apologizing every five seconds because a butterfly splatted on your windshield. Actually, just having to constantly clean your windshield from bugs in general.
Yeah, the mosquitoes sucked a lot. But there were plenty of other things too, including birds that ate the mosquitoes. Now the same birds don't come around because there isn't enough food to make it worthwhile. And there were toads out and about, all the time. In the middle of urban areas! Now I only see them close to natural parks. I'm only in my early 30s, and the decline I've witnessed in my lifetime is staggering.
A lot has contributed to this: urban sprawl creating habitat fragmentation, pollution in general, global warming creating climate change which shifts weather patterns away from what insects in the area are adapted to. But the absolute worst thing we've done (wrt insects) is pesticide use. We never needed to use pesticides in urban lawns (we never needed to have lawns in the first place). People are so afraid of insects that they would rather wage a forever-war with chemicals rather than cultivate a healthy ecosystem to more efficiently limit the populations they don't want.
And then cities started conducting aerial spraying for mosquitoes, which hastened the collapse of everything else. People will say "this pesticide doesn't target those other insects", but fail to understand that you can't just pull at one part of an ecological web and expect the rest of it to stay intact. Everything is interdependent. If we want to build a just future, we need to remember and honor reciprocity.
Reblogging for this super important note
And
I’m adding on these videos too, because tbh i think starting with cute content like this is a great way to begin to combat any phobias you might have rn
this is the thing I was talking about where people are playing with their cats the way that cats play with eachother lmao
I'm eternally grateful that polyamorists have created or popularized a lot of terms to describe common experiences such as feeling joy at seeing your partner happy in another relationship (compersion), societal pressure to follow a specific progression or series of milestones for a relationship to be considered Serious (the relationship escalator), and a partner of your partner (metamour).
But I think that, much like Therapy Speak and its cutesy friends neurospicy and neurosparkly, words that might be useful for describing your own life can become cliché annoying jargon when someone else starts applying them to your experiences for you.
anyway. this post brought to you by the acquaintance who asked if I was "fluid bonded to both my nesting partners." next time just ask who I'm fucking.
sorry i have to get on my soapbox bc the term fluid bonding is so regressive & conservative i actually hate that it has gotten literally any traction
there is no inherent “bond” that is created between people from having unprotected sex
anyone who uses this term has got to stop saying that. PLEASE. for me 🥺
I agree and it especially rubs me the wrong way when it's used like a euphemism for "having sex." Just say sex. If you mean unprotected sex specifically then say unprotected sex.
I could be wrong, but I suspect "fluid bonded" SPECIFICALLY came out of gay male culture in the wake of the AIDS epidemic. But given the awkward steps queer vocabulary has been making lately, I would not be surprised if the polyam crowd picked it up as a cute way to say "fucking" and not, like, "we have made specific informed decisions about our shared sexual health."
It's definitely existed as a term for a while now, so I wouldn't be surprised, but weird stuff happens when one community's slang escapes containment and loses its context.
every july. every fucking july this post gets reblogged to shit. why. why does this god forsaken website love egg. i gave egg a voice in 2013 and it always comes back. i try to forget egg. i bury egg as far as i can but somehow someone always finds fucking egg post. this post could be dead for months but it always managed to come back like some sort of zombie egg. enough egg. no more egg. fuck eg

A new study from Tulane University researchers has found that after decades of loss from deforestation and coastal development, mangroves ar
Mangrove forests used to be considered one of the world's most threatened ecosystems. However, recent analysis of satellite data shows that mangrove forests are no longer in decline and in fact the global coverage of mangrove forests has been increasing over the last 16 years due to restoration and natural habitat expansion.
The health of mangrove ecosystems is particularly relevant in the era of climate change, since they place a crucial role in protecting coastlines from storms and erosion in addition to storing carbon.

we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
torrents work like this
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
please learn to torrent
An expert guide to get started using torrentsTorrents are one of the most popular forms of file sharing on the internet, accounting for over
always use qbittorrent, do not use bittorrent or utorrent.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ... THIS is a good welt pocket and the people who designed Simplicity 2895 ought to be blasted well ASHAMED of themselves for the crap way THEY wanted a welt pocket made. *SNARLS*
This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.
I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.
