So… I know I’ve said something like this before, but does nobody find it odd how the majority of SamBucky shippers do not care about Sam outside of Bucky and outside of using him as a self-insert for their Bucky centered fantasies? I mean, does nobody else find it strange that the majority of SamBucky shippers are okay with anti-Blackness in fandom, especially in fanworks? Nobody else finds it the least bit bizarre that a person gets more pushback and vitriol for responding to racism and disrespect to themselves and/or Sam, than the people who are dishing out the racism and disrespect get? Nobody finds it just a wee bit odd that now, in 2026, the most popular and biggest SamBucky accounts on every platform make no secret about preferring Bucky while regularly shading, or disrespecting, or mischaracterizing Sam? Nobody thinks it’s even a little weird that people are openly fetishizing Sam and interracial relationships? None of you care that what most of the shippers seem to enjoy about the ship is that they can use Sam as a warm body to take care of poor ol’ Bucky?

**Brand New Day Discussion w/ Semi Spoilers**

I saw spider-man last night and I’ll be honest the second that they straight up said she was Jean Grey (even if I already knew I was holding out home in the end) I started to not enjoy the movie as much cause I love X-men they’re so important to me and I’ve said it here multiple times that I don’t trust the MCU with the X-men so I unfortunately began to disengage from the experience emotionally when she was on screen. But I woke up today having some time to think and I want to say that I still have my reservations about them handling the X-men but I loved this movie and this was a fairly good depiction of Jean Grey. Jean Grey is a messy and does inhumane things (all the X-men do…) as a response to the way they are treated and they did that very accurately in this movie. Sadie Sink did an amazing job playing Jean which I could see even if during my viewing I didn’t like that Jean was in this movie. This is something I’m just going to have to get over one way or another whether it be not really engaging with the MCU anymore as a whole (which I kind of have been) or just still engaging just curbing my enthusiasm a little bit. I know x-men is going to be a big part of doomsday and I have very mixed feelings about that movie as a whole and I guess this was a decent was to introduce the idea of the X-men (I’m not counting ms marvel bc it’s really fucking stupid if they go through with making her a mutant cause they’re too big of pussies to do inhumans don’t pmo)

But I just wanna talk about the absolute mindfuck of being a biracial person raised both on the poorer side and entirely by white people.

Now to preface this: I am a white mom-black dad biracial person. I only spoke with my father once before he died in 2025 when I was 19-20 years old because he kinda dropped me and my mom to the point my six siblings didn’t know of my existence till 2023 when I graduated high school. I had no connection to my black side whatsoever.

That fucks you up A LOT. There’s a sense of “I don’t belong with these people” (like I had to keep trying to convince myself that I was not in fact adopted because everyone always assumed I was) This is especially true when a lot of the places, because I was raised with my grandparents as well, were primarily white and so I never really had a place where I felt normal. There’s a unique sense of isolation where everyone is looking at you and touching you like you’re not even human and not really ever being explained why. In fact my grandparents drilled into my head that “you’re not black you’re biracial it’s different”. I wasn’t Black or any other kind of marginalized race so I never connected until years later as an adult in therapy that I was experiencing racism near constantly as a child primarily through microagressions. I was also raised on the poorer side which doesn’t give you a bit of a complex because through I did have certain experiences as a child that were expensive it was a result of my mother saving up, planning, and borrowing money so I could have those experiences. But I did feel different from my peers in school. I didn’t have an identity as a labeled person of color (despite being pretty tan and with really curly hair) so I identified as poor-middle class.

Now as I look back so much of what I thought were class differences and monetary differences now seem so obviously more race centered than anything.

Someone else mentioned Hamilton in the tags and I literally I hated Hamilton when it first came out bc all the white theater girls who were lowkey racist to me (though I didn’t realize at the time I thought I just wasn’t cool or interesting enough to hang out with) LOVED it and it just made me so uncomfortable and angry. It took YEARS for me to actually get into the musical and a few more years to realize why it made me so uncomfortable and mad that they were talking about it and praising it so damn much.

I think the most charitable interpretation of this is that people connect to characters that are like them, and that the experiences of Blackness is so alien to them that the White characters are the only ones that White people connect with. Combine that with the fact that Tumblr is so White as a platform, and you get this issue.

It’s still bad and racist, but it is understandable. People should still do better though. (I’m not trying to justify, I’m trying to come up with an explanation)
