Its a story about a ethnic minority child being raised by parents who, despite their best efforts can't understand them. Changing their name after adopting a child from a different ethnicity is so common. Susie being treated like a threat and a problem child even tho she hasn't actually done anything looks almost exactly like my childhood. Idk its probably cause this is the 80% white website but its so much the experience of being a poc in a white neighborhood that I'm shocked more people arent talking about it

With Rhaena, I'm on the fence. To me, it makes sense that she'd look that rough because she's in a situation where she doesn't know what to do and with no one to stand with her. Cutting off her locs to hide her white hair makes sense, especially because no one is maintaining all that on the run. But it does seem like she's being placed into harder circumstances than her combo of characters implies she should be, in a way her white counterparts just... Aren't. They've made Alicent far kinder, apparently!

And as for Louis, Claudia, and Armand? Yeah. The Islamophobia with Armand? Check. The antiblackness with Louis? Check. A white woman being the author of this last episode and how it is clear that she was having so much fun with the violence that she clearly did not consider (or maybe even just believes in) what this all looks like? I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

I honestly find it quite strange how some people who claim to love claudia refuse to accept that louis is also her abuser. Putting the blame entirely on lestat feels genuinely insane to me and i say this as someone whose favorite character is literally louis

Perhaps that's why episode 6 felt out of place to them, as this was quite clear to me from the minute he begged lestat to turn this child without her consent to fix their marriage and continued to use her as a way to appease his own guilt over the things he'd done

She was never truly her own person to him, rather an extension of himself and she knew this too so it's crazier to me that people are shocked she hated him just as much as lestat

I guess i also just fail to understand how we're watching a show about literal monsters and people are still having debates over who is more morally correct than the other
