After defeating the Absolute with Tav, Astarion is glad to have his beloved remain beside him. He didn’t expect it to be easy, living in the Underdark with his siblings and the other vampire spawn. Still, a new manuscript detailing vampire spawn has been discovered, and no one could expect to know what knowledge it reveals - about Cazador, about the other spawn.
Tav is a human Paladin, with an Oath of Devotion that has guided her and her companions through the events of Baldur’s Gate 3, saving as many beings as possible and protecting the weak and defenseless, as is her tenet. But she also has a secret that she has yet to tell anyone… That it’s time to tell Astarion …
But there is so much more to it than either of them know.
All things considered, even she doesn’t know how things will end for the two of them.

Location: 200 miles (321 km) south of Stanley, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas)
Subject Discovery:
Subject discovered via SeaBat-IDH T51-R Ultrahigh resolution Multibeam Echosounder Survey System. Anomalous reading detected at edge of 900m detection range. Subject stayed at edge of detection range as communication was established. Researcher(s) translated dialogue from English to range of vocalizations along the audio spectrum, until subject began to close gap in vicinity. Subject vocalization fits within range of typical Cetacean genuses.
Observations (partnered with Dr. Foster)
Subject name 'TIdus' (provided by subject). 'Tidus' appears to be a member of Siren Oceanus Rhincodon. While first specimen discovered, it is to be noted the potential for S. Oceanus species to exhibit Polar Gigantism. 'Tidus' appears to be a male specimen of aprox. 20ft. (6.09m) from nose to posterior fin. Reproductive organ, upon further examination, shows to be around 62in (160cm). [¹] Communication between Researcher(s) and subject considered amicable, with quick establishment of language conventions and expertise. English appears to be a language 'Tidus' has come into frequent contact with, given the subject's comprehension.
Interview with 'Tidus' provides the following details:
Subject considered young adult at 19 years old (subject measurements dictated by rate of time taken to complete circuit around southern hemisphere)
Eyesight reduced when head is not submerged.[²]
Human culture, technological achievements and anatomy considered of great interest. [³]
Has made proposals to be transplanted to nondescript facilities for further study, on condition that subject be allowed to study Researcher(s) in tandem. [⁴]

I don’t know how many people know this but I absolutely LOVE merfolk AUs and I have to do it for every fandom that I’m in. So, I couldn’t resist making one for BG3 as well.
Here is my merfolk design for Astarion - he’s based on a Chain Catshark, and the scars on his back are rope/friction cuts from when he was captured. Also, includes human Gale in this AU, who is a Professor in Mythology - I am currently working on some comics for this AU but whether they'll come into fruition.. We'll see.
