I fundamentally disagree with the idea of DNIs but just in the nature of keeping things civil: I am currently very into royed. Fiction can and does affect reality. However, there is a very, very big difference between wide sweeping fictional trends and exploring taboo topics in safe, fictional environments. In fact, I think the second is a vital part of a healthy society. Pro shipper vs Anti feels like a reductive framework that I don’t like using. so idk, block me or whatever if you don’t fuck with any of that. I guess.

the fact that Reylo discourse is now almost entirely 'is this ship toxic :)' always throws me off so much because I genuinely think the MUCH bigger issue with Reylo was that it pushed a black man to the side as Not Love Interest Material in favor of a white nazi. Like the issue is that shipping Reylo arrived transparently because people did not care about the black man – which I know, because the ship became popular before we even had The Last Jedi! When they'd barely interacted! If Kylo were black and Finn were white, Reylo would not be popular and it would never have become canon in any way, and I do think a refusal to grapple with that is honestly very embarrassing.
The scene where Yoda sort-of gently tells off Obi-Wan for questioning the Council's decision to let Anakin go on the mission to protect Padme in AOTC is so funny with hindsight because, like, Yoda's right to give Obi-Wan advice about not letting his fears for his apprentice turn into something that genuinely holds Anakin back when Anakin is old enough to start making his own mistakes and learning from that, but also Obi-Wan's COMPLETELY CORRECT ABOUT ALL OF IT. Anakin IS too arrogant for this, he ISN'T ready for a solo mission (especially when it involves Padme, something Obi-Wan is acutely aware of at this point), and we know exactly how wrong that mission goes and all of the things this mission ultimately leads to down the line (destruction of the Republic and the death of the Jedi).
So. You know. Sure, in any other situation with probably any other Master/Padawan pair, this would've been really great proper advice in this situation. Every first time Master likely has similar feelings when their Padawan goes on their first solo mission and worries about whether the Padawan is actually ready or not and needs to learn to let go of those fears and have faith in their training and allow the Padawan the freedom to learn from their own mistakes. But in this situation, it may have behooved them to listen to Obi-Wan about Anakin's issues because Obi-Wan's not actually being arrogant when he tells the Council that Anakin's not ready. The Council DID get that assessment wrong and Obi-Wan knows it and has to just let go of that worry in order to let Anakin learn from his own mistakes and hope those mistakes aren't too terrible, and then Anakin ends up going off and committing mass murder and abandoning his duty and getting secretly married to a sitting Senator. Obi-Wan had SUCH GOOD REASON to question the Council's decision here and gets given great advice that just ends up completely terrible specifically because Anakin is the worst person in the world and no one quite realizes it yet.
How to Podfic: A Highly Biased and Incomplete Tutorial
So, a while ago, some of my friends and fellow cast members of the @sansukhpodfic asked about how to make and edit podfic on their own. I created this tutorial for them, as a supplement to the resources already posted by the Sansukh mods. In the wake of the most recent @auralphonic episode asking for technical advice on podficcing in Audacity, I thought I would polish this up and post it.
This tutorial explains how, once you have permission to record a story, you go about turning it into a podfic using Audacity. It focuses on technical and logistical details, rather than artistic advice, and is cobbled together from my own experience, my knowledge of the mathematics behind signal analysis, and other people’s tutorials. There’s lots of communities and resources out there that give advice on the artistic side (Auralphonic, for example, has an episode for newbies), which I recommend checking out.
Disclaimer: There is no one standard method of doing this! This is the method I have found gives me the best results, personally, but there may be better ways to do this. I strongly recommend checking out other resources for comparison.
