hey all, i'm red, i'm originally from pallet town; kanto but me and my friends are like almost constantly traveling around, i'm a pokemon trainer with a special interest in pokemon biology! i know a lot about pokemon (and i've been a professor's assistant and a league champion so i'm like, qualified to be interacting with wild pokemon) and i like to talk about them. or type about them i guess (i'm nonverbal) so if you have any pokemon care related questions... my ask box is always open!

Pokemon headcanon that once Absol are studied and people realize they prevent disasters instead of causing them, particularly dangerous workplaces get themselves a workplace Absol and it also decreases accidents.

Construction sites and fishing ships and factories will have one that pretty much just lazes about until it just gets up howling one day and knocks a dude down. They almost never figure out what would have happened but they're always like "yes absol thank you absol I am so grateful to be on the floor right now. Can I offer you a treat in this trying time"

Posting some of my old Fakemon project I eventually adapted into its own thing for No Reason At All. Also don't mind the stuff I hastily scribbled with my mouse cuz I didn't wanna file manage. Some of the best things pulled from this project's design bible.

I know electric types are high-energy, but which ones are on the lower end of the energy spectrum?

the mareep line are fairly calm; since their static wool protects them from predators, they don't need to be high strung

tadbulb and bellibolt are also pretty relaxed and slow electric types

rotom are easy to care for and don't need exercise the way a lot of other electric types do, though untrained ones are prone to mischief/breaking things

helioptile and heliolisk spend most of their time soaking up sunlight and don't need a lot of exercise, though they do need a good outlet for their stored energy every once in a while. helioptile and heliolisk also don't need to eat, they can get all their necessary energy from the sun. (you should still feed them, though.) helioptile is a very easy electric type to take care of, they're small and relaxed and don't need a lot of care.

joltik and galvantula don't need exercise, especially galvantula is pretty sedentary. joltik are fast and small so they can be a pain when they feel like scampering around but galvantula like to stay in their dens

Toxtricity maybe, but not toxel. The issue isn't the electric side, it's the poison. Toxel has notoriously poor toxin control, and can be a challenge even for experienced trainers.

Lower energy yes, but its a bit like having your pet rock be asbestos.

I know it's a bit of a edge case, but in the event that your heliolisk loses the ability to photosynthesize or there's too little light for them to todd photosynthesize properly, they eat a LOT.

During the winter, your heliolisk will broomate, becoming even less active. You have to feed it during this time, even if you are in a tropical region with plenty access to sun. Their bodies expect to pivot to a dietary way of gaining energy, so they will get sick if not fed enough.

Heliolptile do not broomate, but they do require more frequent excursions to spend their excess energy, because even though they produce less of it, they also can't store as much.

anything you can tell me about the trapinch line? :3

trapinch is very top heavy and if it tips over it struggles to get back on its feet. please flip trapinch if you see them fallen on their back (get behind it, put your hand/s on the back of its head so it can't bite you, and tip it forwards until it's upright. you can also put a hand on its shell once you've tipped it up enough so it's weight isn't just on its head). if you approach it from the front it can bite you. they have a very strong bite force and have bad eyesight, so if they sense/see something they'll bite and won't let go, since that's how they catch their prey. if you lift it off the ground it will usually let go (make sure when it falls its not stuck on its back)

vibrava's wings vibrate together to create ultrasonic (sounds above human hearing) waves that cause headaches or migraines. they do this to deter predators and make prey easier to catch, so if they aren't threatened they won't do this. give vibrava space and move slowly to avoid a bad headache. their wings aren't strong enough to fly very well, so they still crawl on the ground most of the time.

flygon's wings make a sound humans can hear. it's called a song, since people used to mistake flygon for singing while it flies. every flygons' wings make different sounds depending on their shape, size, weight, speed of wingbeats, etc.

flygon's eyecaps protect it from the sand its wings whip up in its natural habitat, and it has better vision than trapinch, but now (unlike vibrava, who has the best vision of the line) it sees everything tinted red. the eyecaps can also get scratched and sanded down over time. old flygon have very blurry vision because of this.

flygon tend to be aggressive and paired with their speed they can be very dangerous. they get into fights with other pokemon, even other flygon (they're a solitary species). the entire line has very good focus, they will not give up prey easily, so it's very important to not aggravate flygon, especially if you don't have pokemon to protect you.

the entire line need a hot, dry climate to thrive. they do very badly in the cold and dislike humidity, but occasional splashes in water is nice as long as they can dry off quickly in the sun. at night, all of the line bury themselves in the sand for insulation and warmth.

Fun fact Red is the shortest of the Kantrio as a teenager (as pictured here) then he ends up as the tallest by the time he's in his early 20s. (My headcanons.)
