This is a blog that can hopefully be used as a resource for those who have service dogs, or are looking into getting a service dog. The stars of this blog are a 4y/o border collie named Hesper who is a PTSD, Autism, and Medical Alert service dog, and Virtue who is a 2y/o border collie SDiT. They hope you all enjoy sharing their adventures as much as they enjoy having them!

I just wanted to apologize to everyone who’s sent me asks over the last few months asking for advice/help. 

I usually don’t mind helping or offering advice, but I’ve been really sick lately and haven’t felt up to it. :’) I’ve also been super inactive on Tumblr (and in real life) in general, so that’s also contributed to the silence. 

Chronic illness has been kicking my ass lately, and we’ve been SUPER financially stressed the past 5 months or so, which keeps causing my illness to flare, which just creates a vicious cycle. 

But I just wanted to apologize. I’m not ignoring you because your questions aren’t valid or I don’t want to help, but I just don’t have the spoons or energy to answer your asks.

Honestly, I hate to gatekeep pet ownership, but if you hear the words “a dog can survive on a vegan diet, but will probably not thrive on it” and your immediate reaction is “cool, so I can feed my dog vegan!” then you shouldn’t have a dog.

No ifs or buts about it, you just shouldn’t have a dog. Give it to someone else.

can we talk about how much training strengthens your bond with your dog??? I think it does wonders for the relationship you have w/ a pet. I’m in no way a serious trainer, I don’t compete anymore and don’t have any set plans to in the near future, but I think pet ownership reaches a new level when you can work w/ your animal as a cohesive team.

So.. is there any dogblr (or not, just dont be a serial killer) in Canada that would consider taking Remedy and I in for a while, around end of august/sept? I probably need a place until febuary 2020. Its 6 months. Any amount of time you can help is good, theres no need to commit to the entire 6 months, i know its a lot. I can probably hop around.

I would be paying my part of utilities and helping with food and we can discuss helping w rent, and helping around the house as much as my health allows. Can obviously dogsit. Im quiet and can keep to myself if you want to be alone.

Hesper is just shy of four years old and about thirty-seven pounds.

He likes to rearrange furniture and wrestle with his brother. He likes eggs but not the shells, and his absolute favorite activity is watching birds. He is a terrible snuggler and utterly terrified of the cat.

New research led by Kazuo Fujita of Kyoto University has found that your dog is the best wing man/woman. The researchers tested three groups of 18 dogs by putting them in rooms with their owners as well as two strangers. The owners were tasked with opening a box, and solicited help from the two other people in the room (sometimes they would help and sometimes they would refuse). After watching their owners either be rebuffed or aided, the dogs were offered food by the strangers — and were much more likely to ignore the stranger who had been unkind to their owner.
