A soul by the name of Ernest Pentious has finally reached the gates of Heaven. Everything is fine, until Lucifer himself shows up and bitterly presents undeniable evidence that that man was once a Sinner. Despite all odds, it seems a Sinner has redeemed himself after death. The high angels discussed the fate of this man, debating whether to send him back to whence he came. Ultimately, a decision was reached- they would test this theory of post-death redemption and present the results to St. Michael. An angel named Sera and her younger, bright-eyed sister Emily, are put in charge of leading this experiment. Who knows what the future may hold for this pair?
- Major Character Overview -
Sera - The Angel in charge of leading the Experiment. Emily’s older, wiser, and more serious sister. Distant towards Sinners.
Emily - Sera’s sweet younger sister. The Angel of Joy, loves those around her and wants nothing more than to help all the Sinners.
Angel Dust - One of Hell’s most famous Adult Film Stars. Addicted to drugs but on his file was labeled as ‘Non-Violent.’ Specifically paired with Emily for his therapy.
Husk- Alcoholic Cat. Former Overlord.
Olivia and Clara - Two Freshly-Dead Residents of Purgatory. Have yet to be judged, identical twins.
Vox - Television Host that’s broadcasting the experiment. Not actually a patient.
Alastor - Radio Host who will not leave. Isn’t actually part of the experiment. No one knows how he keeps getting in.
Charlie - Princess of Hell, daughter of Lucifer. Theater kid bitch. There to monitor the experiment for Hell.
Zestial - The Eternal Watcher of Purgatory.

Hello everyone! Billie and I (Midnight) have decided to start posting proper explanations of our thoughts behind all of the designs we have here (as spoiler-free as we can).
To start us off, we’ll be looking at Emily and Angel’s designs. You’ll even get to see some concept artwork for the pair, brought to you by Billie herself (say hello Billie. “Hello Billie.”)
. . .
💫 Emily 💫
(First Concept Page Versus Most Recent Artwork)
Emily didn’t change too much since her first concepts! We mostly just got better at drawing her and emphasizing her shapes haha
Billie’s Thoughts when Designing Her:
- “She needed pupils- I get there might have been an uncanny ‘be not afraid’ thing they were trying to do with her original design, but it wasn’t working.”
- “Originally this was kind of a Swap!AU, so I wanted to give her the friendly vibe of a business-hotelier without going full blown ‘I AM THE DOORMAN.’ That’s why she has so many ruffles and circles in her design, to appear small and gummy bear-esc. The bob also helps emphasize that shape.”
- Gave her facial dots/freckles to match with Angel, her sinner.
- “In terms of her actual Angel form, something I realized immediately was… Spoonily.”
✨Spot the Difference✨
- “I leaned into this, but changed the spoon to more of a teacup inspiration. When Emily was first concepted, she was fully Sera’s sister. She was the teacup to Sera’s teapot.”
- “I wanted her cooler, more desaturated colors to make her stand out and contrast against the Sinners of the group.”
🕷️ Angel Dust 🕷️
(First Concept Page Verses Most Recent Artwork)
Angel also hasn’t changed, but that really depends on whose artstyle you’re talking about. We’re both much more comfortable drawing him now, and he’s also been narrowed out a lot since the first time we drew him. His face is a lot thinner than before.
Billie’s Thoughts when Designing Him:
- “Angel in the show is… ugly. I’m not exaggerating, he’s supposed to be a porn star and he is just not that. He looks like he somebody bashed in his head by a brick. He’s built like a twig. There is nothing attractive about this man.”
- “So, the immediate question is: what is the beauty standard in Hell? There was a chance that the beauty standard is that ‘Everyone is Furries, so brick-head Angel is very attractive.’ According to what I knew about Viv’s Hell (at the time) was that the more humanoid you are, the less egregious your sin. So suddenly the beauty standard is How Humanoid You Are. Thus you should work backwards from there.”
- “As an Italian myself, I wanted to put some of the fun aspects of being that. Like him having curly, wavy hair that’s almost impossible to maintain.”
- “I did like some aspects from the canon one and reused those- like his mismatched eyes and ‘freckles.’ More could have been done to emphasize the spidery-ness, however, which is where the spiderbutt, mandibles, and funky legs come in.”
✨Sexiest Man Alive, Folks.✨
Yes there is a doll out there of this Angel. Yes there is also an Emily one. School projects go crazy folks.
- “I also kept him pure white because very few members of our cast sport that kind of color palette, with the exception of, say, Mimzy and Crymini. I wanted him to be stand out as one of our main characters.”
- “…bro was also supposed to be more built at first because of him being a stripper and all that, but we’ve toned that down significantly. He still has more meat on his bones than OG Angel, but it’s less so.”
- “All in all the main idea behind the design was to make him humanoid and attractive, because that’s what I imagine would actually sell to a majority of the population of Hell. Not everybody is a furry.”
. . .
There were, of course, a few more things that we’ve subtly changed to fit their ever-evolving stories better, as well as fit the Rules we have in place for Sinner Forms in PP. If you’re curious what those are, please drop us an ask!
Tune in next time for our thought processes regarding Sera and Vox’s designs!
A little screenshot redraw from a shot in Stayed Gone, featuring PP!Alastor and PP!Vox (heh pp). Billie had a lot of fun with this one, from picking out all of the outfits (the angel one being the most ironic- bro would never have been a little church boy) to doing all of the layout and coloring. We’re tempted to do some kind of parody/cover of the song for these guys, even if this isn’t 100% canon accurate. Let us know if that’s something y’all would be interested in 👀
I hope you find PP!Vox in Canon!Vox’s clothes just as cursed as I do, his little hat terrifies me
The interviews continue, just as (if not more) chaotic than before. Everyone needs a break.
Notes:
WARNING FOR: Sexually explicit language and references (and LOTS of it), references to drug abuse, hints of ableism, and Vox (but he gets dogged on so it's a little better).
It’s not midnight yet so this is still legal to post 😗👹
Anywho YEAHHHH EMILY FAMILY aka Adam, Eve, and WOAH HELLO ABEL! She technically calls them her ‘Aunt and Uncle’ but like… they’re basically her parents. They’ve raised her ever since she was a wee angel, and they all love each other quite a bit. Emily tried her hardest to make a cake, and her and Abel emerging from the kitchen utter messes is too amusing for the family to handle. Adam snapped a photo to cherish the memory, as one of the only people in the room who knows how to work a digital camera Oop-
I think this is the second time we’ve shown Adam’s design on here! Welp- one day we’ll post his full ref, for now enjoy the mans with his silly mutton chops. Love this fellow (and he loves his wife and kids very very much).
Bro is decked out in a bunch of equipment that he stole off of human stuff, like cables, underwater drones, lights from submarines, scuba goggles, etc. He’s based on a mako shark but makes himself look bigger by using the equipment (bro is pretending to be a great white, what a NERD)
He’s summoning his bubble stands to fight you with (COME MY LITTLE BUBBLE-KUMAS). People in this tsudo-AU use bubbles to watch TV and such.
In order to craft a proper reality show, Vox has to introduce each of the guests at the Purgatory Palace. Interviews seemed like the best way to do so- if only anyone knew what they were doing.
