It’s nails on a chalkboard to my ears when someone condemns the radfem movement by saying “you just tell women that all they have is trauma and terror and that’s what unites women as a class, it makes being a woman sound terrible.” Like.
Yeah babes. Connect with reality rq. Being a woman is great, yes, and it’s also largely fucking awful. Girlhood and womanhood is not a majority of unicorns and pink dresses; most women I know started getting harassed by adult men as puberty began to hit. For as much of girlhood and womanhood is fun and lovely, such a massive portion of it is the never-ending trauma of living under misogyny. Refusing to see that or being incapable to acknowledge that a large part of womanhood is the persecution faced daily is either stupid and shallow, or straight up misogynistic.
They want us to be palatable... you know, like objects to be sold.
