“I hate school I’m sorry Malala”- Funny yet poignant. Acknowledges both the difficulty of the task and the fact that doing that task is a privilege. Gives credit to the people who fought for that privilege with a tongue in cheek acknowledgement of the irony of the initial statement
“I’m just a girl I should be home baking bread not doing calculus” - at best historically uninformed at worst leaps decades back in time. Refusal to acknowledge the charged history of education and slights the centuries of women’s labor it took to reach this point
the thing about misogyny is that femininity is both devalued AND forced on women (and those misgendered as women). if you fail to meet the arbitrary standard of Womanly Charm you're ugly and unwanted and hate yourself and if you succeed you're shallow and brainless and weak. if you don't try to conform you're lazy and if you do you're vain. it is not possible to beat this system. feminism needs both "feminine doesn't mean weak or less-than" AND "women don't have to be feminine to have value", and if you are fighting for one of these the people fighting for the other are not your enemies, nor are they privileged over you.
this post is inclusive of trans people, including but not limited to trans women and transfeminine people. exclusionary sentiment is not welcome.
hot take, but the whole rise of the terms “yaoi” and “yuri” are annoying af. Like, ya’ll do know those terms were created with the intent to fetishize the queer/lgbtq+ community, hence making the terms very degrading and are one of the major reasons why most queer relationships in media are presented as mid?
no? Just me? Alright then.
Thanks for pressing the “keep reading” button, cuz that means you’re interested in what I have to say about the matter.
So, without a further ado…
Hasn’t anybody else realized whenever mlm content is posted to the internet it’s always made by women for women?
It makes no fucking sense, I mean, I don’t care who it’s made by, but instead I care more about who it’s being presented to.
And I don’t like how MAJORITY OF BL is made for women to fetishize (since majority of BL plot has practically no story and only focuses on the characters romance ((which isn’t even a romance since it focuses more on the sex))).
Not only that, but has anybody else realized just how fucking sexist the terms “yaoi” and “yuri” really are? Even the terms himejoshi/danshi and fujioshi/danshi are sexist af.
Because, for some disgusting af reason, yaoi means “no climax, no meaning”
That’s fucking disgusting. The term yaoi literally means “if there’s no hot sex involved it’s not a good mlm story”. What.
And then look at the fucking term yuri, yuri fucking means “lily”, which in Japanese culture is seen as purity and innocence.
How come stories involving two girls is considered more complex and sweet? But then when there’s a story between two guys it’s always turned perverted, shallow, and dark?
This is some next level sexism that nobody talks about.
Not only that, but (as I said earlier about fujioshis/danshi and himejoshis/danshis) the “titles” these fans use on themselves are sexist as fuck too since fujioshi means “rotten girl” and himejoshi means “princess”.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
And it gets worse from there, because it’s very common for in the fu community, and the hime community, to ship IRL PEOPLE TOGETHER REGARDLESS IF THEY’RE UNCOMFORTABLE OR NOT. Just so they can get off to the idea of them being together.
yeah, no. I can’t stand by the rise of the terms “yaoi” and “yuri”.
You can block me all you want, but I’m standing my ground.
i get why people don't believe in marriage as a social construct but legally it is the best and easiest way to say "this is who i trust to take care of me when i can't take care of myself" and i'm so glad gay people fought for that right bc when shit gets scary at least i know im in good hands
Anyway, pansexuality is both biphobic and transphobic, thus pan people don't belong in the LGBT community.
Asexuals aren't inherently LGBT and don't belong, either (unless they also happen to experience same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria). Some aces are also pretty homophobic.
As for nonbinaries...well, I'm nb-neutral, but I do find it odd how no one identified as nonbinary before it was cool.
