I was drawing This picture for all the women fighting as gamer like a D.va.

I hope that female gamers like D.va will be able to play game more fun And hope to be able to concentrate fully on fighting enemies not Misogyny.

The EU officially rejects the categorization of human beings into races. Because we learned something from WWII. Whereas US America is downright obsessed with “race” and someone’s descent and origin. 

What’s worse is that they take their concept of “races” and try to apply it everywhere else, which … doesn’t really work all that well (but when has that every stopped US Americans?).

Okay so in the notes a lot of people interpret this as europeans saying “WE ARE NOT RACIST BECAUSE WE DON’T SAY RACE” which is not what is said here (or at least it shouldn’t be). So to clear some things up: 

a) if a continental european asks you for your race, run as fast as you can. Literally nobody else but a very convinced and self assured Nazi will use terminology like that. (so basically what the rest of the post already says)

b) This does in no way mean that (white) Europeans don’t know or don’t see “races” in the American/English sense of the word. As a non-white person or a person with even the slightest accent, you will still get asked where you’re from, why you speak the language so well, etc… All the typical white questions. 

c) I think the most important part is the last comment with the link to the EU and their refusal to accept races.  The non-categorization into races is mostly an administrative thing. One of the strangest thing for a European when we have to fill out any kind of formular for the US, is when they ask what your race is. We don’t have that. Not for University (biggest thing that surprised me when I applied for Uni in Scotland), not for our ID, never. I don’t even recall a moment where they might ask for your ethnicity. The only thing they might do in Germany (and I France as well as I recall) is to ask your if you belong to a certain church (not religion. Church) and that’s for Tax Reasons. 

d) It’s also actually not that different from the US I guess? Because I cannot imagine any conversation where the word race is actually used to describe latinx/black/asian/etc… people, even in English, whereas saying “Black people are at greater risk of being shot by the police” sounds completely normal (in opposition to “The Black Race is _____”) (at least to me)

If you live in the US, you should not be freaking out about nuclear war with North Korea in a “we’re all going to die” way. DPRK has one rocket that can reach the continental US, it’s barely gotten functional, and they have no warheads small enough to be carried by that rocket. They can theoretically hit Hawaii and Alaska, but Hawaii is a small, long-range target and Alaska has very low population density, so attacks there would likely be ineffective.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be freaking out about nuclear war with North Korea. It’s to say that you should stop being so fucking self-centered about it.

We’re not going to die. If we nuke North Korea, we’ll wipe out thousands of noncombatants, just like we did in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Even in an “ideal” outcome for that first strike, where Kim goes down immediately, his military apparatus will retaliate — against South Korea and probably Japan. This hypothetical nuclear exchange will kill millions of civilians who, surprise surprise, live far away and look sort of not-European. Then we’ll spend the rest of our long, non-incinerated lives bickering with each other over whether it was cool of us to start that fight.

If you want to speak out against Trump’s nuclear bullshittery, don’t bleat “we’re all going to die.” Yell “no atrocities in our name.”
