I am proud to present a screenshot from an interactive visual poem I will be personally presenting at RVCC's Student Art Show in the next few weeks. The piece is a short playable part of a poem I wrote back in high school called "Advent", detailing the abstract birth and ascension of a supersonic starchild, one obsessed with a mysterious dream... The player can explore one of the main landscapes from the "Farplane Tundra" section of the story, where the main character has just emerged from a spectral forest fire that has enveloped their place of residence (a massive tree ecosystem), and as a result they are smoked out and forced into the icy unforgiving landscape of the Farplane Tundra. As you can see this area consists of a frozen mountain lake with a lighthouse that serves as a misguiding beacon for lost souls trapped under the ice. The MC must make it across this frigid frontier, avoid the cold gaze of the light tower's eye (which spawns spirit-piercing ice spikes), scale the mountain, and cut off the astral energy source supplying the lighthouse with its siren-like powers. You can check out the upcoming exhibit complete with audio and a synchronized scrolling section of the poem at the upcoming RVCC Student Art Show taking place between April 23rd and March 3rd. I will be presenting the project as an augmented assignment for my Foundation of Game Engines course. Below in the comments is a piece of the poem this Unity 3D Terrain is based off of. Greetings Hypostatic Humans! This is a public announcement that Hypostatic Studios will continue releasing new content as of today (April Fools is over so you know it's no joke 😁). We collectively apologize for the lack of progress over these past couple months, unfortunately due to lack of funding we have had to put the project on hold for a while. As academics and circumstances allow, we will continue to post new content over the coming months, and we have also recently applied to E3 2019, which we would love to publicly present at if accepted. We'll keep you posted! Meanwhile, here is a #WIP Pic of our revamped Start Screen, featuring the surreal spaceship named The Prosopon, which means "external face/mask/tool" in Greek terminology, for it is the future face of humanity. Acting as a massive Water Memory propulsion clock, the makeshift mother of humanity regularly expels the Waste Water Memory of its patrons that have been sorted out through the Cognitive Dissonance Trials taking place inside. Only the most worthy internal elements will survive its turbulent psychological/psychedelic mindscape, the rest will be used as psychic jet fuel to propel the starship through the Superfluid Spacetime of The Firmament. The title text and start button are currently employing placeholder fonts (let us know if you have any suggestions!). When the player presses on the Start pool, the camera will zoom into the Prosopon's open mouth, where the user will dissolve and be transported to the portion of the ship of their choosing. A Viscera Vista from The Heart of Darkness, complete with the PsychoPathic Psyche's Internal Effigy, with the exposed exit of the Selfless Sewer where their heart once rested, and the faux feathers used to fool fused psyches into thinking its self a Pariah Messiah, unaware of what rests behind the cold masks of its Vain Vestigal Visages. The Image of the Beast can be seen in the bloody reflection of the Crimson Pool below (which is how this Psyche secretly sees themself). A scene from our Psychology+Ethics level, which we created in cooperation with the Psychology Department at The Rochester Institute of Technology. Our team directly consulted with a prominent professor specializing in mental illness (who also happened to be an avid gamer) in order to convey cutting-edge information on problematic psychological phenomena. In this way not only do we aim to provide our players with accurate intellectual insight into what it's like to experience some common mental conditions, but to actually simulate in real time these experiences to provide a better internal understanding of people who suffer from such psychological circumstances outside of their own personal control. The blackened vascular cage of The Heart of Darkness has four Arterial Areas to explore as your dissociated Shadow of the Self attempts to make its way back to its Mortal Form, withach level exploring a different mental illness. The enigmatic entrance to our Caverns of Eileithyia, the reproductive complex of The Prosopon. Eileithyia was a Greek goddess of childbirth, and accordingly she now oversees the underworld areas of the symbolic spaceship associated with the storage of Ego Eggs, literally human brains hidden away deep inside of the ovaries of The Prosopon, each awaiting their number to be called to take part in the numerological rebirthing of the Human Race. In ancient legend it was sometimes stated that there were in fact two Eileithyias, one who eased the pangs of childbirth and another who maliciously prolonged the painful proceedings. As a result there are two goddesses that oversee these chambers, each leading into disparate dens of deities that have aligned with either of her two variants. An excerpt from a scientific documentary on the sonic phenomenon that is Sonoluminescence. In this scene, Professor Seth Putterman from the University of California uses acoustics to create a "Star In A Jar", a sonoluminescent bubble of imploded water particles that reaches heat readings approaching that of our planet's sun. A very solid explanation by physicist John Koury discussing Superfluid Helium, the carrier liquid for the Hypostasis DNA Data in A Perfect Year.
