weary and wary are not the same word and have very different meanings and if i see one more person use wearily when they mean warily I’m gonna combust
weary: tired, worn-out, beaten down, exhausted, in need of rest. they were weary after their long journey. wearily, she sat down on the couch and kicked off her shoes. he had grown weary of this conversation.
wary: guarded, cautious, on-edge, careful. they were wary of the approaching stranger. warily, she poked at the dark shape in the corner of her room. he paused, wary, but nodded anyway.
thank you for this reply you get the funny crown today with bonus points for accuracy
Thought crimes of course aren’t real but uh. We know those aren’t just thoughts anymore once you’ve posted them publicly, yeah?
Then they’re just crimes.
sure, fictional crimes since nothing happened and no one was hurt. should we put the fictional handcuffs on? "sorry, you wrote about murder which is illegal, go spend 20 years in mind jail"
y'all make so much more fuss about shit in fanfiction than crimes in real life
Agatha Christie is serving 100,000 consecutive life sentences for all the murders
Writing fiction (at least where I live) is not a fucking crime. The idea that it should be a crime is purely fascist. Trying to control fiction and censorship is making thoughtcrime a real thing. Y’all are fascist and need to get a fucking grip.
Also, can’t wait to serve my 1,300+ years with Agatha Christie.
China is doing this so, yeah. Don’t. Just don’t go down that path of thought crime

The tribes of Tumblr appeared to worship Apollo as their primary patron deity, most often under the epithet Apollo Spairahemon ("Apollo the Ball-Thrower") as a god of prophecy and sport. His name was typically invoked to celebrate a user blessed with uncommon prescience. Moments of prophecy were considered highly sacred and were often recorded, and such texts are sometimes accompanied by an artistic depiction of the god — either his traditional masculine image or, unusually, in the form of a young woman, which appears to have been an earlier style before a conservative shift toward more conventional iconography — preparing to cast a round rubber ball that our scholars believe was used in the sport known as "dodge ball". Much as other cults regarded his arrows as bringers of disease and health, this community believed that being struck by this ball would bestow prophetic visions.
Some icons are reproduced below:
An earlier depiction (c. 2020) of Apollo as a girl clad in a simple tunic and playing with other children. Figures are smiling and the image is brightly colored, indicating a celebratory outlook toward knowledge of the future.
A later piece (c. 2022) that resembles the traditional appearance of Apollo. References to childhood and play are omitted, and the god carries a more frightening aspect; perhaps this icon represented grim omens rather than good tidings.
Religious studies scholar here. These icons often appear appended to a post at a later date at which the original post has proven to be prescient. The icon is frequently shared without commentary, as it serves a complex and complete semiotic function in and of itself. Its presence acts as an acknowledgement of the god's favor upon the prophet.
The gift of prophecy is universally acknowledged as both blessing and burden. This ambivalence is implied in the symbol of the dodgeball that Apollo uses to physically impact the bodies of his chosen. Even in the playful icon c. 2020, her intended targets are seen bracing for the impact of her hurled gift. The c. 2022 icon is, as noted above, more explicit about the dangers of receiving the god's attention.
In this way, the beliefs of the Tumblrinas (as they are known amongst themselves) are Homeric in nature. Tumblrinas often relate to Apollo's gift of prophecy with a grim sense of irony that echoes the Iliad and Oddessey's treatment of Cassandra.

bringing back my too woke opinion that you should be allowed to change labels without the previous one being incorrect
i think you should be allowed to identify as trans without retroactively saying you were also trans in the past. i think the "born this way" rhetoric is limiting and you should be able say stuff like "i was fully a girl when i was a kid and now im a boy" without it invalidating your current identity but maybe that's just me
Younger folk are getting really good at spotting AI slop, to the consternation of marketing execs.
Found on Mastodon.
From what I remember of back when Millennials were outpacing Boomers at internet and tech stuff in general, this is going to cause a lot of issues for companies angling to use slop in marketing because the younger set are always going to be better at spotting it than the older, but the older are going to be the ones approving marketing campaigns and ads and etc. Meaning, the older people will not ever be able to tell what might actually convince the younger.
The good news is that if it persists and Gen Z and Gen Alpha continue to scoff at the generated stuff, then marketing departments aiming at them will just have to give up on using it because they won't be able to figure out how to fool their targets with it.
The bad news is that this won't apply to scams and campaigns aimed at older people, so once again we're going to have a situation where the kids will be the ones lunging across the coffee table to stop Mom from giving her financial info to that really obvious fake scam mom oh my god do NOT buy that it isn't even a real thing.
Anyway godspeed to the younger generations.
Every macho dipshit talks abt how many people they'd kill to protect their family as though I'm supposed to be impressed. I can hear the glee in your voice dude you're ACHING for a chance to do this, you're giving up nothing in this situation. Tell me how many loads you'd take to protect your family
"I don't care what's going on you mess with my wife and kids I'm putting a bullet in you" Yeah yeah yeah when was the last time you did the dishes without being asked. Can you picture your wife happily working at a job that makes more than yours without punching a hole in the drywall. Make her lunch

Longtime readers may be aware of how much I relish an excuse to bully a company, so I'm sharing the wealth;
Clothing company Patagonia is currently sueing drag queen Pattie Gonia for "irreparable” harm to their brand.
To be clear; Pattie named herself after the region in South America.
So Pattie is asking people to politely ask Patagonia to drop the lawsuit.
I'm extending the invitation to all of you, because sueing a drag queen for 'infringement' in the current political cultural landscape is vile. Especially a drag queen who has raised millions of dollars for non-profits, uses her platform to raise awareness for climate activism, and fully aligns with Patagonia's apparent climate-conscious mission statement.
They're claiming they're sueing for $1. They're actually asking her to stop using her name, and pay over $1 million in legal fees. They're straight up harassing her.
In contrast, drag queen Jan Sport has a Jansport bag line. It's that easy to just... work with a queen.
Anyway. Be respectful(ish), but feel free to be annoying on Patagnoia's socials, asking them to 'DROP THE LAWSUIT'
I think they have a twitter and tiktok too!
