I forgot I wanted to share this after Hazbin Hotel S2 finished.
We all saw how Alastor damaged Vox's confidence in their past friendship after Vox proposed they work together, but I think there was more to it than just Alastor thinking it was pathetic of Vox to suggest it. I believe it's possible Alastor felt insulted to the point that he had to laugh.
Alastor and Vox both lived during the same point of time in America: Segregation, and Alastor was on the worst end of it. Being biracial with stronger Black genes living in the South made everything harder for him; Rosie said he had to hustle himself, to prove he could do the same quality of work, while Vincent likely got handed his job as a Weather Man by comparison.
Alastor had to put in twice, or triple the effort on his own, while Vox had to do the bare minimum: charm and looks. And during a time when people of color were barely seen as humans, I can see why Alastor would react the way he did.
I don't believe Vivienne will pull race into the show on a grand scale; maybe Vox's stunts in S2 is likely to be the most we see, but that's still something to take into consideration.
