why am i nostalgic for my teenage years bitch i didnt even have fun !!!
Yeah but your back didnât hurt
People with chronic pain/physical disabilities:
hey yâall wanna talk about a lesser talked about trauma effect?
loss of autonomy.
not knowing how to do anything without explicit permission or instruction.
feeling like youâll get in trouble if you do anything on your own will.
waiting until youâre given permission to do so much as eat.
not feeling like your body is your own.
if you experience this you arenât broken or alone. you were abused and traumatized and conditioned to be like this. remember you belong to nobody but yourself. you are and will be okay.
bring back the habits that made you happy as a child. thereâs no reason you should ever have to give up harmless things that bring you joy. you donât have to age out of having fun. finger paint. write mediocre fanfiction and questionable poetry. put chocolate chips in your waffles. sing in the bath, and while working in the yard, and while washing your hands. hammer tunelessly on a piano. spin in circles until you fall down. climb a tree. just because youâre now in charge of your life doesnât mean youâre expected to give up on the things that make life feel worth living
If I could impart one thing to a young adult - it would be this. This is literally the secret to being okay your entire life.
i really can't stand this anymore oh my god
so i have made a few posts talking about this, but my mom is Making Ultimatiums that are going to fuck me over financially just for the hell of it. i am currently unemployed, receiving no more benefits, and i have absolutely no savings. at this point i have a negative balance on my bank account and i have nothing much i can do about it. i am a trans man with adhd, ptsd, and severe depression so it has become inhospitable in my current living environment, and i need to move, except i currently live in one of the most expensive places in the US and i don't know how to drive. basically, i need to buy a bike, get a plane ticket, and find a job. so this is a mutual aid request but also like. if any of you know of any trans people who know of any trans safe living areas that are not wildly expensive, please message me!
anyway i have talked for too long, here is my info

1/23 update: my bank balance is still at -$300 and the notes on this post have slowed completely
please reblog if you can't donate and what not
it really bothers me that so many people on this site treat ableism like itâs black and white.
just now i saw a post where op was like âiâm glad that spinners are popular because it normalizes fidgets and decreases stigmaâ and someone replied like âno!! itâs absolutely TERRIBLE that neurotypicals are using these fidgets because when they get in trouble they make things harder for mentally ill kids!!â and like you guys do realize that? youâre both right? it isnât a decisive fact that neurotypicals using fidgets is either good or bad, there are both benefits and consequences that need to be taken into consideration.
a few months ago there was a post going around that was like, *neurotypical voice* why are you bouncing your leg, and somebody reblogged it saying that the post was ableist because autistic kids can get overstimulated by leg bouncing. i go to a school for the mentally disabled, and iâve been in this exact scenario, my classmate wasnât able to focus because i was bouncing my leg and although i felt bad i told him that i wouldnât be able to stop for long because i do it subconsciously due to my adhd. he wasnât being ableist for asking me to stop, and i wasnât being ableist for saying i couldnât, we just both had different needs. in the end, our compromise was that i went to work in the computer lab.
you have to understand that there is always more than one side to issues like these, and that we should be striving for understanding and balance over demonization of one side and blind support of the other. this is especially relevant when people on both sides are mentally ill or disabled, because sometimes symptoms will clash and you just need to deal with it.
Iâm both pro herbal medicine and pro vaccination because you can treat burns with aloe vera juice and sore throats with lavender infused honey but you canât rid a country of polio with plants.Â
Donât forget kids, jewelweed is a natural counteragent to poison ivy rashes but it wonât do shit against whooping cough
Mint for nausea, valerian and chamomile for sleep, antibiotics for fucking infections.
Iâm in love with this post

or we could let an unnecessary danger to swimmers die.
No the fuck we canât. Because last I checked humans donât own the fucking ocean, and last I checked, theyâre IMPORTANT apex predators, a super necessary part of the ecosystem. Not to mention NEW YORKERS bite 10x as many people as sharks do a year. More people die from lightning and fireworks than form sharks.
Sharks arenât a problem. They never have been. People are.
if you swim where the sharks are, itâs on you buddy, the animal gotta eat you donât gotta swim
To @keyhollow let sharks die naturally, donât go hunting them. Last I checked thereâs no such thing as an important apex predator. Why on Earth are New Yorkers biting people? Know what we did to lightning? We found ways to deal with them. Iâd say firework damage is usually from stupidity.
To @jeza-red so nobody can enjoy the beach now. The animal doesnât got to eat innocent bystanders that are definitely not fish.
Iâm gonna ignore 95% of that and focus on the apex predator part.
Theyâre super important because they control prey animal populations, of prey animal populations get out of control it can heavily and possibly irreversibly damage flora, other fauna, and land. A keystone predator is literally irreplaceable
AÂ âkeystone predatorâ is nowhere near irreplaceable.
Do you know what keystone means??
First off, calling something a keystone predator is erroneous at best. Second, keystones can be replaced.
No
You literally just have no idea what youâre talking about.

Sharks play a critical role in keeping our oceans healthy and in balance because most shark species are at the top of the marine food web.
The Importance of Sharks
@miasmicsiren If youâre too stupid to read adult content, thereâs even a childrenâs book on the subject!
Cherrypicking sources from shark apologists wonât work for you either.
Ah yes. âShark apologistsâ. Those who defend the problematic behavior of *checks notes* preserving species and protecting the ecosystem.
Whatâs with all these bitches who saw Jaws once and feel like every shark needs to die
What in the fuck is this bitch talking about âKeystone predators can be replacedâ WHAT

Most trauma survivors will openly acknowledge that they have taken away some important lessons from their experiences. But never lose sight of the fact that those lessons could always have been learned in MUCH less harmful and debilitating ways. There is usually a silver lining, but it could have been mined a thousand times over without having to involve the cloud or the storm.
âIf possible, you should help others. If that is not possible, at least you should do no harm.â

Itâs okay to not want to have sex ever. Itâs okay to never even try it.
I was 23 before it even occurred to me that not starting with sex ever was an option. The feeling of relief was so great I actually cried.Â
You donât have to if you donât want to. You can have a fine live without ever having sex, I promise you.Â
SHOUT OUT TO MY WRITER HOMIES WITH MUSLIM OCS/CHARACTERS;
1. WEARING A SHAWL TO BATTLE IS THE EQUIVALENT OF HAVING GIRLS FIGHT IN STILLETTOS.Â
Just so you know, this is what Iâm talking about;
-Is it bad-ass? Abso-fucking-lutely. Is it Practical? Not a chance in hell. Especially not if itâs silk. If itâs cotton, you are skating on thin fucking ice. That bitch will NOT stay on. It barely stays on with me just walking down the street to Walmart. Wielding axes and rifles and swords and daggers? I PROMISE you it will not do the job itâs expected to-WHICH IS TO COVER THE HAIR. (Some muslim girls dont wear them-and thatâs fine. But those who DO do it to completely cover the hair in public. Is it ~Aesthetic~ to see the flyaway hairs in battle? Sure, but those arenât usually practical either. )Consider instead;Â
sport shawlsÂ
-For one thing, itâs actually DESIGNED to be worn to atheletic activities. Archers tuck hems into the collar of their shirts so they donât get in the way, and track runners pins (ill get to this bit later) them down into the shirts to prevent flyaway bits and to stop them from getting slapped in the face. Itâs breathable, stretchy, presentable without being attention seeking.Â
BawalsÂ
In a pinch, bawals work just as well-as long as you specify that they are COTTON. Unlike the shawl, which are rectangular, bawals are SQUARE, and thus easier to manipulate, fold and pin down. If you wear it right, they carry an equal aesthetic value to shawls, and come in plenty of pretty patterns as well.Â
2. Iâm not sure about the USA, but the girls I know wear this underneath the headscarf;
Does it kinda look like a beanie? It sort of works like a beanie too. Hair is slippery. It tucks in any extra hair you might miss just by wearing the headscarf, its harder to pull down and on the event the shawl DOES fall down, your hair is still not exposed. It protects the ears-which is important even on a daily basis, because pins, headphones and any other headgear that might pinch them. It comes in plenty of designs, including ones that has open backs to allow long hair and ponytails.Â
3.SPEAKING OF PINS; IâM TALKING ABOUT THESE BAD BOYS;
BROOCHESÂ
though , i suppose most of yâall are most familiar with safety pins, right?
whatâs the difference? Well, if your oc/character is an athlete, itâs actually LEAST likely theyâll be wearing SAFETY PINS. Theyâre cheap and super easy to buy in bulk, true, but they also SUPER easy to wear out even with the smallest amount of strenuous activity. Between the three of âem, Iâd put the brooches as the best option to wear in battle because 1) it has a large surface area, thus hurts less when pressed on with heavy items, which includes bag straps and weapons, (pins are sharp and can poke you painfully); and 2) more secure-the latch is covered by the gaudy jewellery above, and theyre usually smaller and tighter. Stays on the stubbornnest, even when headscarf is pulled. very roughly. Iâm saying that even the cheapest brooches will allow the shawl to be ripped apart before even letting it go.Â
3. They probably ponytail their hair. Because Come On, guys.
Anyway itâs been bothering me and I just thought if yall could bother knowing the difference between skin tones for POC you could bother with muslim practicalities too. Or somethingÂ
another trick that can help keep a scarf of any kind in place on your head is a velvet headband. You can get em from wig stores I know tichel stores sell them but itâs a life save if you have fine textured hair. Less chance of slippage and less pins.
